A study on the state of the art on the construction and the new technology of the underground structure(underpass, underground passageways) (지하구조물(지하차도, 지하통로)건설 현황 및 관련 신기술 개발동향 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate how to design, where to construct, why to degrade, what plan to use systematically the underground structures such as underpass, underground passageways. About 50% of the underground structures are located on Seoul, Kyungi-Do. In design of the underground structures such as underpass, underground passageways, the required conditions are defined. And also in construction stage, the conditions of soil, required structure depth, site characteristics, reasonable construction method, are investigated. In the selection of details for underground structure, the items mainly considered, are the wall and column type, the sidewalk type, anchoring-system type, the water-proofing method, entranc shape. The reason and the adequate measures for the degradation of concrete structure are also investigated. The initial cracking properties due to the thermal characteristic are considered. The state of the art report on the new technologies are reviewed. The recent project for the systematically application to the underground structures is reviewed.

  • In this study, the possibility of seismic performance design was proposed and the quality verification test method was reviewed as part of the design of waterproof performance in underground walls under accelerated environment conditions for waterproofing materials, which are barrier and finishing material that can prevent ingress or overflowing water from inside and outside of a building by attaching all of the construction materials used in construction structures. Considering the current state of earthquake-resistant design of construction materials in Korea and abroad, seismic product groups are rare and mostly dependent on construction methods because there are no regulations on materials, although there are still regulations on earthquake-resistant design in the building process under the current law. Overseas, it was possible to confirm that various building materials that gave seismic performance to non-structural materials, such as Japan, Canada, and Germany, are being developed. If it is possible to have a complementary response to earthquakes in the advanced external waterproofing materials, it can be expected to be applicable as leak prevention and prevention technology along with the seismic designed structure.

Fire Loading Analysis of Underground Box Structure with Considering of Concrete Spalling I : Spalling Analysis (박리를 고려한 지하박스구조물의 화재하중해석 I : 박리해석)

  • In this study, the numerical fire analysis for temperature distribution and spalling behavior of underground concrete box structures that contained lifelines, such as power cables and communication cables. The temperature field of inner space was assumed based on the fire curve with the thermal gradient obtained from CFD analysis. It was assumed that the spalling behaviors of concrete are occurred when the concrete temperature reached the threshold, as dehydration degree. In this case, the elements correspond to spalling parts were removed and the analysis model were updated. Three fire scenarios were analyzed and the results were showed adequate spalling behavior. The bearing capacities of the box structures would be estimated in the companion paper.

  • Concrete structures are damaged by aging and external environmental factors. This type of damage is to appear in the form of cracks, to proceed in the form of spalling. Such concrete damage can act as the main cause of reducing the original design bearing capacity of the structure, and negatively affect the stability of the structure. If such damage continues, it may lead to a safety accident in the future, thus proper repair and reinforcement are required. To this end, an accurate and objective condition inspection of the structure must be performed, and for this inspection, a sensor technology capable of detecting damage area is required. For this reason, we propose a deep learning-based image processing algorithm that can detect spalling. To develop this, 298 spalling images were obtained, of which 253 images were used for training, and the remaining 45 images were used for testing. In addition, an improved loss function and data augmentation technique were applied to improve the detection performance. As a result, the detection performance of concrete spalling showed a mean intersection over union of 80.19%. In conclusion, we developed an algorithm to detect concrete spalling through a deep learning-based image processing technique, with an improved loss function and data augmentation technique. This technology is expected to be utilized for accurate inspection and diagnosis of structures in the future.

  • There are various national standards designed to test the physical properties of waterproofing materials for the respective countries based on each of their environmental parameters, variables and requirements. The problems of these standard systems can be outlined in the following: (1) there are too many test methods and criteria to satisfy in order assess one waterproofing membrane system, and (2) there is currently no known method to compile the separate testing results to provide a comprehensive report on waterproofing system durability. This paper outlines and compares the performance testing results of various types of asphalt waterproofing membrane systems and discusses the potentials of a complex environmental deterioration analysis method.

  • Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) is widely used for tunnel structures such as shotcrete and segments. Corrosion of steel fibers and steel reinforcements may affect on the long-term durability of the concrete structures with steel fibers and reinforcement. Therefore, a study on the feasible method to evaluate corrosion possibility and permeability of the concrete structures is required. This experimental study examines the effect of steel fibers and internal reinforcement on the surface resistivity. Steel fiber mix ratio and corrosion of internal reinforcement were considered as variables. In the results, steel fibers significantly reduce the surface resistivity due to those conductive characteristic. In the case of 3% mix ratio, it was difficult to evaluate rate and permeability of corrosion due to the great reduction of resistivity by mixing of steel fibers.

  • PHDC(Promoted High Durability Concrete) is developed for preventing the chlroide attack to concrete structure on the reclaimed ground. In this study, the basic characteristics and the field application of PHDC is examined through experiments, the durability standard of the company is suggested. the long-term monitoring experiment for measuring the chloride penetration is also performed.

  • Recently, as construction market scale is getting bigger and transportation industry is developing, the underground structure construction such as subway, tunnel (excavation box) or shield tunnel structure is becoming more diverse, and its demand is gradually increasing. However, for the concrete structures constructed underground, the water leakage is occurred due to the expansion joint and construction joint, or movement, uneven settlement, excessive load and vibration during application causing cracks. Many waterproofing method and materials are used in jobsites, but areas such as underground railroad and subway that has movement and vibration at all times, the ability of waterproofing layer is declined causing repetitive water leakage due to crack, erosion and separation, which is a vicious cycle. Therefore, this study evaluates the responsiveness to a movement for adhesive/flexible waterproofing material that can cope with the vibration and the movement of the structure. Also to recommend a waterproofing technology that can cope with structure movement through examples of actual jobsite applications such as subway and tunnel where there are constant movement and vibration.

  • Impact-echo is a method for non-destructive testing of concrete structure. This method is based on the use of impact-generated stress wave which is propagated and reflected from internal flaws within concrete structure and external surface. In this study, we performed non-destructive testing using impact-echo methods for safety diagnosis of civil engineering and building structures. There are testing cases for the three models having one-dimensional form ; The first case is the measurement of thickness change of the model, the second is the detection of cavity in the model, and the third is the predictions of the lining thickness and the position of the cavity under tunnel lining condition.
