  • The recent Multiple Lapse Time Window (MLTW) analysis of Korean Peninsula event showed that the focal depth was far greater influence factor than the velocity structure of the model, applying the analysis of the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. Thus, using the events with focal depth of about 10 km, this study considered 330 paths connecting 41 events and 71 stations, and re-examined uniform and depth-dependent velocity models previously studied. As a result, the residual of misfit function greatly decrease from analytic model to DSMC model, reflecting variation of the focal depth from 0 to 10 km. On the other hand, the difference of residuals for each velocity model were relatively small.

  • In this paper, a new method for first order plus dead time(FOPDT) model identification is proposed, which can identity multiple points on a process step response in terms of classification of time response. The process input and output to the test are decomposed into the transient part and the steady-state part. The steady-state part express one FOPDT model and the transient part express variously FOPDT model using least square estimation method. The optimum parameter tuning algorithm for PID controller of the Smith Predictor is proposed through ITAE as performance index. The Simulation results show the validity and improvement of performance for various processes.

  • This paper proposes a performance analysis model of security servers comprising IPSec accelerators. The proposed model is based on a M/M1 queueing system with traffic load of Poisson distribution. The decoding delay has been defined to cover parameters characterizing hardware of security sorrels. Decoding delay values of a commercial IPSec accelerator are extracted yielding less than 15% differences from measured data. The extracted data are used to simulate the server system with the proposed model. The simulated performance of the cryptographic processor BCM5820 is around 75% of the published claimed level. The performance degradation of 3.125% and 14.28% are observed for 64byte packets and 1024byte packets, respectively.

  • Even though FOPDT(First-Order Plus Dead-Time) process is most widely applied in the industrial control field, it is difficult to figure out a in precise process model because of the long dead-time problem. Also, control performance may be deteriorated due to the mismatch problem of plant and model. Thus, the accuracy of process identification is the most important problem in FOPDT process control. In this paper, the proposed method using real-coded genetic algorithm outperforms the existing estimation methods that use step-test responses. The proposed strategy obtained useful result through a number of simulation examples.

  • The Internet has been widely applied to the remote control system. The network-based control system, however, has a random time delay and an inherent weak point of the network, when the data ate transmitted. The network delay may result in performance degradation or even system instability in teleoperation. In this paper a prediction model of network delay using TSK (Takagi-Sugeno-Kang) fuzzy model is presented. An adaptive scheme is developed to update the prediction model according to the current network status. The prediction model is applied to the control of an Internet-based mobile robot to show its usefulness. In the computer simulation the TSK Prediction model of network delay is proven superior to the conventional algorithms.

  • In this paper we suggest multimedia synchronization model that is based on the Petri-net and services desirable quality of service requirement. Proposed model applies variable buffer which can be allowed, and then it presents high quality of service and real time characteristics. This paper decreases the data loss resulted from variation of delay time and from loss time of media-data by means of applying delay jitter in order to deal with synchronization interval adjustment. Plus, the mechanism adaptively manages the waiting time of smoothing buffer, which leads to minimize the gap from the variation of delay time. The proposed paper is suitable to the system which requires the guarantee of high quality of service and mechanism improves quality of services such as decrease of loss rate, increase of playout rate.

  • The ignition of ethanol-oxygen-argon mixture was studied in reflected shock waves over the temperature range of 1281-1625 K and the pressure range of 0.69-1.06 bar. The ignition delay time was measured by the sudden increase of pressure profile and the radiation emitted by OH radicals. The relationship between the ignition delay time and the concentrations of ethanol and oxygen was determined in the form of mass-action expressions with an Arrhenius temperature dependence. In contrast to the behavior observed in methanol, ethanol acts to inhibit rather than accelerate its own ignition. Several kinetic mechanisms proposed for ethanol oxidation at high temperatures have been tested by the computer simulation.

  • This paper presents a data prediction method and its application to haptic-based teleoperation systems. In general, time delays inevitably occur during data transmission in a network environment, which degrades the overall performance of haptic-based teleoperation systems. To address this situation, this paper proposes an autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model-based data prediction algorithm for estimating model parameters and predicting future data recursively in real time. The proposed method was applied to haptic data captured every 5 ms while bilateral haptic interaction was carried out by two users with an object in a virtual space. The results showed that the prediction performance of the proposed method had an error of less than 1 ms when predicting position-level data 100 ms ahead.

  • We studied on crack growth retardation in single overloading condition. Crack tip branching which as the second mechanism on crack growth retardation was examined. Crack tip branching was observed to kinked type and forked type. It was found that the branching angle range was from 25 to 53 degree. The variations of crack driving force with branching angle were calculated with finite element method The variation of {{{{ KAPPA _I}}}}, {{{{ KAPPA _II}}}} and total crack driving force(K) were examined respectively So {{{{ KAPPA _I}}}}, {{{{ KAPPA _II}}}} and K mean to mode I, II and total crack driving force. Present model(Willenborg's model) for crack growth retardation prediction was modified to take into consideration the effects of crack tip branching When we predicted retardation with modified model. it was confirmed that predicted and experimental results coincided with well each other.

  • In this paper, we develop an analytical expression for the propagation delay of submicrometer CMOS inverter using the triangle-shaped waveform of output current and two fitting parameters. Our model shows that simulation results are well in accordance with HSPICE results. Maximum simulation errors of total inverter delay and jitter are below 0.6% and 2.8%, respectively. Comparing with previous researches, the new model has better fittering characteristics in the range of low operating voltage. We also have fabricated the inverters with ten chains and estimated inverter delay and jitter characteristics. The results show that the values of delay and jitter in the fabricated samples come close to the values of those in the new model.
