We investigate and analyze the effect of population density on digital divide in Africa by applying the panel data analysis therein. From the estimation results based on the panel data analysis, it has been found that population density as well as both levels of income and education has a significant effect on the digital divide in African region. In particular, the fact that the variable of population density makes a significantly influential role implies that the construction cost of information infrastructure in Africa behaves such a considerable obstacle to Africa wishing to enter into information society. In conclusion, throughout the integration of the estimation results in the paper, the following implications for economic cooperation with Africa can be drawn. The estimation results mentioned above strongly imply that the variable referred to as population density should be considered in selecting which countries to assist for construction of information infrastructure.

This paper is concerned with the relationships between large firms with global reaches in their markets and subcontracting firms, mostly small and medium-sized firms. It then attempts to focus in more detail on the dynamic relational dimensions between the two. In doing so, we draw upon the secondary data and the results of interviewing survey with some senior managers. The empirical study shows that the localisation of subcontracting networks have been increasingly reinforced thanks to the increasing tendency of vertical disintegration by LC. However, it is identified that there is a tendency that local subcontractors are specialised in producing relatively low value-added and low technology-intensive electronic parts/components. Based on these results, the author suggests the implications of regional economic development in the context of innovation and learning.

This study examined the importance of social contribution through the existing research data on social contribution and the progress of social contribution activities of public institutions in Wonju Innovation City. The social contribution activities of nine organizations out of 14 public institutions were analyzed in detail and suggested the right direction of social contribution activities of public institutions based on this analysis. First, recent trends are being developed to cooperate with local communities through public interest activities rather than simple donations or sponsored forms of social contribution. Second, the synergy effect was maximized by systematically approaching local communities rather than a one-time, one-off social contribution. Third, it should contribute to the revitalization of the local economy in the mid- and long-term by creating a social economy in cooperation with local civil society rather than a one-sided social contribution.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of customer's innovation and usefulness on the use intention of Service Robots by potential customers. Based on Davis(1989)'s Technology Acceptance Model, this study formulated three hypotheses, which were about relationships between customer's innovation, usefulness, and use intention of Service Robots. For this study, structured questionnaires were used and data were collected from the 171 people in Seoul and Cheonan. To test three hypotheses, collected data were analyzed using hierarchical regression technique. The results showed that customer's innovation has no influence on usefulness, whereas customer's innovation and usefulness have effects on use intention.

메가 스포츠 이벤트(Mega Sports Event, MSE)는 방대한 수의 내방객, 스펙터클한 미디어 캠페인, 대규모 투자와 지역 인프라 혁신을 특징으로 하는 스포츠 대회이다. 본 논문에서는 MSE에서 다루는 서비스를 살펴보고 향후의 경기장에서의 ICT(정보통신기술)의 역할을 기술한다. ICT는 경기장을 찾는 관람객의 방문동기를 최대한 충족하는 익스피어런스를 제공하도록 활용되어야 한다. 이를 위한 ICT 익스피어런스 프레임워크를 제안한다.

미국전기전자학회(IEEE)의 1999년도 파워 엔지니어링 소사이어티(PES) 윈터 미팅이 미국 뉴욕시에서 개최되었으며, 여기에서는 고압직류(HVDC)송전 기술이 21세기의 에너지개발 프로그램에서 수행하게 될 역할에 대한 발표가 있었다. 패널리스트들은 HVCD 기술이 앞으로 어떻게 활용될 것이며, 직류송전의 유리한 점을 적용시킬 수 있는 전세계의 지역, 기대되는 HVDC 기술의 혁신 그리고 이들이 민간주도로 이루어질 수 있을 것인가에 대하여 초점을 맞추었다. 그들을 또한 전력공급산업에 나타나고 있는 HVDC 송전연계 시스템에 대한 규제철폐의 충격에 대하여 토의하였으며, 기술혁신이 직류 변환소이 건설비를 감축시킬 수 있을 것인지에 대한 논의도 있었다. 제기된 문제에는 아래의 것이 포함되어 있다. - 기설 교류 송전시스템을 직류방식으로 전환시키는 상황이 발생할 수 있을 것인가? -투자자 소유의 독집 직류방식 송전선로 프로젝트가 실현될 수 있을 것인가? -시스템 성능을 본질적으로 개선 시킬 수 있도록 직류방식 송전시스템에 적용시킬 수 있는 개선책은 무엇인가? PES의 에너지개발 및 발전위원회의 국제분과위원회 위원장인 토마스 J. 하몬스 씨(영국 스코틀랜드의 글래스고 대학)가 세션의 좌장을 맡았으며, 매니토바 하이드로(캐나다)의 데니스 우드포드씨가 모더레이터 역을 맡았다. 그리고 하몬스 씨와 우드포드 씨가 이 세션을 계획$\cdot$준비하였다. 이 문제에서 국제적인 시야를 가지는 패널리스트들은 HVDC 송전기술의 장래에 대한 전망을 가지는데 비하여 북아메리카에 국한된 시야를 가지는 패널리스트들은 HVDC 사용에 대한 장래의 잠재성을 낮게 보고 있는 것이 흥미로운 일이다.

4차 산업혁명의 도래로 산업 유형은 어느 한 종류로 단정하기 어려운 융복합적 형태로 변화를 거듭하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 과거 성장 중심 경제발전 모델이 저성장과 함께 양극화, 고용불안과 같은 다양한 사회문제를 야기함에 따라 새로운 발전 패러다임에 대한 관심과 요구도 그 어느 때보다 높아지고 있다. 이러한 일련의 환경 변화는 과거 제조업 중심의 경제성장을 주도해왔던 한국 공적보증제도에도 혁신을 촉구하고 있다. 신용보증기금은 2018년 현재 총 보증잔액 50.5조원을 보유한, 한국에서 가장 큰 규모의 공적보증기관이으로 지난 1976년 설립 후 40여 년간 산업육성과 시장안정이라는 두 가지 정책적 목표를 달성하기 위해 다양한 산업 분야와 기업에 신용보증을 제공해왔다. 1997년 IMF 외환위기, 2008년 글로벌 금융위기 등 국가적 위기 때마다 시장안전판 역할을 성공적으로 수행하며 한국경제가 신속히 위기에서 벗어나는데 공헌하기도 했다. 그러나 이제 신용보증기금은 과거의 성과와 역할에 얽매이지 않고, 급변하고 있는 경제 기술환경 속에서 또 다른 역할을 모색하고 있다. 구체적으로는 중소기업에 대한 보증지원이라는 기존 역할에서 한발 나아가, 혁신생태계 조성, 데이터뱅크 플랫폼 구축, 사회적가치 확산을 위한 전사적 사업구조 혁신을 단행하고 있다. 본 보고서에는 환경변화에 부응해 새로운 역할을 수행하고자 노력하는 신용보증기금의 활동과 성과를 담았다. 여기에 제시된 신용보증기금의 사례들은 벤처캐피탈이 활성화된 서양 국가들과 달리, 정책금융 역할이 상대적으로 중요한 아시아 지역의 중소기업 금융 활성화에 효과적인 정책적 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

This study considers the improvement of R&D promotion program and its investment efficiency for regional industry. We find out some problems of R&D promotion program and suggest plans to improve investment efficiency of R&D through practical analysis of achievement. Since the 2000s, our country has implemented diverse policies for regional industry; R&D for regional industry has become a core part of business from the point of view of regional industry. As ever, these policies are highly supported for the purpose of securing industrial competitiveness by the central government and local governments. This study, through practical analysis of certain region (Jeonbuk), reviews some problems of R&D promotion program and suggests plans to enhance the achievements of a variety of policies, strategies, and projects. We perform practical analysis using three methods for three different aspects: shift-share analysis for each industry type, performance analysis for each investment type and characteristic analysis for each company type. Reviewing the results of practical analysis, we suggest some plans to promote the collaboration of main R&D support organizations and to minimize the doubleness caused sporadically by the central government and local governments. This research will be used effectively in setting up, implementing, and evaluating R&D investments for regional Industry.

For fostering the biomedical industry, the formation of a high-tech-based innovation cluster is continuously being promoted. Accordingly, studies dealing with domestic clusters are being conducted based on case studies on major overseas clusters, but they are limited to a single case. In this paper, content analysis was used based on the literature about innovation clusters and bio-medical industry to comprehensively summarize the factors to be considered for the creation and activation of bio-medical clusters. Subsequently, the factors derived through content analysis were applied to the case of the Hongreung Innotown. The requirements for the successful creation of the Hongreung Innotown, it is required to improve settlement conditions, prepare systems to create start-up culture, and revitalize translational research, attract investment, and cooperate and connect with local clusters.

This study analyzes the performance and characteristics of the fostering policies for the focusing on growth path and type occupied in the Technoparks. First, the companies occupied in the Technoparks have shown the characteristics of landing on an actual growth phase beyond the start-up and fostering phases, and when considering the possession of a dedicated R&D organization and the portion of highly educated technical personnel having masters and doctorate degrees, these companies have also entailed the characteristics of being a technological innovation company. Second, about 30% of the companies that left the Technoparks secured their own factories and offices after standing alone, indicating that the fostering function after startup in the Technoparks has been performing a significant role on the growth path of start-up companies from a temporal perspective. Third, a majority of the companies occupied in the Technoparks were composed of scale-up companies or preliminary scale-up companies that contained promising innovative growth potential. However, it seems to urgently require the acceleration of innovation because many companies are categorized into a stagnated growth type that demonstrates a high R&D investment but low sales revenue growth.
