A Content Analysis of Picture Book Reviews in Korean Periodicals (국내 정기간행물에 나타난 그림책 서평의 내용분석)

  • In this study, the picture book reviews shown in Korean periodicals were analyzed to provide the developmental foundation for picture book reviews and expand the professional area of librarians as the producers of book review. Through the literature research and the Delphi Technique the desirable standard of book reviews was suggested, the contents in domestic book review mediums were analyzed for the rightness of describing based on the standard of the book review and henceforward the way of development was suggested. The result from analysis of book review showed that the outstanding book reviews should be more produced based on the desirable standard of book review and the evaluative statements should be developed more than the descriptive statements. Depending on the mediums the contents of the book review were different by the book reviewers' occupations, so the book reviewers should develop their professional knowledges in literature and art. Because the longer book review made the outstanding book review with the rightness of the desirable standard of book review, the certain quantity of book review should be needed and the role of librarians as the book reviewers should be further extended.

  • Korean picture books have been recognized for their value as cultural products in the international publication markets. As results of analysis of publishing situation of Korea picture books that have been introduced in the inside and outside of the country, knowledge information picture books for education are mainly exported to China, and picture books of traditional culture and books about Korean emotions to Japan and France. Specially in France, fantasy picture books in various genres and themes, and picture books with various attempts expanded the boundary to children's literature have been introduced. Based on this situation, Korean Libraries can discuss and present their roles and extensional plans of picture books as reading contents and also fine cultural contents in other country.

A Pre-school Teacher's Educational Meaning of an Activity : 'Discourse between Children through Books' in 3-year-old Children's Classroom (유아교사가 생각하는 만 3세 교실에서 '책을 통한 유아들 간의 의견나누기' 활동에 대한 교육적 의미)

  • This study aims to discover how three-year-old children to search for existence and its meaning, while they participate a programme, 'discourse among children through books' as a way of resolving curiosities. Data were collected between April 2, September 10, 2010 and the collected data included teacher's class records, pictures, discussion notes and interview materials. The results showed that 'discourse among children through books' follows steps in a process. The steps include: Deciding a topic that children should search for, choosing an appropriate book to resolve children's curiosities, spending some time for discoursing among children by using pictures in the book, and sharing what they had understood. Through this process, a pre-school teacher met with children who were full of abilities, ideas and motivation to explore with a little assistance. The pre-school teacher was able to overcome preconceived ideas that informational books could be difficult for children, and experienced various lessons, while the children led their own learning. It represents that the activity, 'discourse among children through books' can be a children centered inquiry learning teaching strategy, because the informational books ensure that the children gain knowledge and are actively in cogitation.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of book content, celebrity recognition, and celebrity expertise on book purchasing, and to suggest implications for the marketing factors for sales and the factors to consider when publishing celebrity books . The implications of this study are as follows. First, when a celebrity publishes a book, it should actively promote marketing activities that can give credibility to the reader and to the credibility of the information about the book field that he usually compiles. Second, when a book is compiled, celebrities should pay attention to book designs and pictures that fit their images. In addition, it is necessary to build a new type of advertising strategy will be. Finally, celebrities should ask for various means to inform viewers and pens of their information, experiences, and learned knowledge in various advertising environments before publishing the book. If you continue to recognize it, your future purchases of books will increase.

Analysis of Children's Social Efficacy Appearing through Early Childhood Education Teachers' Reflective Journals : Focusing on Picture Book Activities (보육교사의 반성적 저널을 통해 나타난 유아의 사회적 유능감 분석 : 그림책 활동을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the social efficacy of children shown in reflective journal writing of early childhood education teachers focusing on picture book activities. The subjects were 47 3, 4 and 5 year old children in G Child Care Center in the Capital Area. Teachers were asked to do 20 picture book activities and to write a journal according to reflective thinking after each picture book activity. Through the reflective journals collected, this study attempted to interpret and analyze them qualitatively by classifying the journals and yielding text contents according to factors for children's social efficacy such as emotionality, emotion control, interpersonal relationship technique, and social knowledge understanding. From the results of this study, first, it was found that children expressed their emotion naturally and that they learned their unique emotionality while they lived together with their friends. Second, it was found that children perceived and controlled their own emotions by using their sympathy and empathy. Third, it was found that children recognized and accepted that they are different rather than the counterparts are wrong through their differences in each other's thoughts to compose the capability of interpersonal relationship. Fourth, it was found that children improved themselves by their understanding, respecting and accommodating their friends as members of society.

An Analysis of Sexuality Education Books for Children and Young Adults (어린이·청소년 대상 성교육 도서의 현황 분석 연구)

  • This study analyzed the 77 most popular sexuality education books for children and young adults published in Korea, based on various criteria, including subject matters, format, implied readers, and author's occupational background. Among the key topics of the International technical guidance on sexuality education developed by UNESCO, the most mentioned was that it is natural to have curiosity on one's own feelings and body and that sex education books can help them learn about them. Respect on one's own body, knowledge of sexual and reproductive organs, eggs and sperms, menstrual cycle, effect of hormones were also easily found topics from the books. The least mentioned topics were HIV/AIDS and Gender-based violence. 63.5% of the analyzed books were books with/without illustrations. Other formats include picture books, comic books, and photo-illustrated books. Publication of books aimed for particular gender started to increase from 2019. Diversity of authors' occupation were also shown starting 2019. Further research on the role of sex education books is crucial to help all children and young adults develop their own sexuality and understand that of other people, and ultimately to live in a harmonious society.

  • 지금까지의 어린이교육은 책을 읽거나 책의 그림을 보거나 단순 영상물을 통한 지식습득에 국한되어있었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기존의 교육콘텐츠의 학습 효율성을 높이기위해 사용자가 눈으로 보는 현실세계에 가상 물체를 겹쳐 보여주는 증강현실 기술을 응용하여 기존의 교육콘텐츠보다 학습 효율을 높인 어린이 교육 콘텐츠를 개발하게 되었다.

A Qualitative Evaluation Research on the Relationship Between Creative Thinking and an Infinite Creative Space Program (공공도서관 무한창조공간 프로그램과 창의성간의 관계에 대한 평가 연구)

  • This study developed a program suitable for operating an infinite creative space within the public library, and analyzed the effect of promoting participants' creativity through a trial run of the program. To do this, we operated a "picture book making activities" program in the infinite creative space of J library located in Chungbuk. This program was performed for 18 elementary students in grades 3-6. Torrance TTCT (The Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking) tools were used in this study to measure the overall creativity. As a result, first, awareness of the importance and interest in environmental science was improved through the whole program process. Second, participants' problem-solving abilities improved during the program by having to derive a solution for a given problem through brainstorming. Third, storytelling ability improved after the story-creating elements of the program. Fourth, each participants' creativity was improved through creative activities. Fifth, by publishing the results of creative activities of participants as books, the self-esteem of participating children improved as well.

  • ${\ulcorner}수변복원(水邊 復元, stream restoration){\lrcorner}$은 미 연방정부의 관련 기관들이 공동으로 참여하여 1998년 10월 발간한 하천과 그 연변의 복원을 위한 종합적인 가이드라인이다. 이 책은 "원칙, 과정, 실무"라는 부제가 붙어 있다. 이 책의 제작 취지는 연방 정부의 범 기관 차원에서 전국에 악화되가는 하천과 그 연변을 복원하는데 있어 실무자들에게 개념적, 방법적, 기술적 가이드라인을 제공하는 것이다. 이 가이드 라인의 제작에 참여한 기관은 농무성, 환경청, 상무성, 국방성(공병단), 내무성 등 15개 기관이다. 이를 위하여 각 기관에서 양해 각서를 조인하여 하천 기술자들은 물론, 생물, 생태, 조경, 하천 형태 등 관련 100명 이상의 전문가들이 '연방기관 수변복원 실무그룹'을 구성하여 추진하였다. 이 가이드라인 구조는 3부와 9장, 그리고 부록으로 구성되어 있으며, 원색사진과 그림을 강조하며 추후 수정보완을 위해 바인더로 만들어졌다. 이 가이드라인은 기본적으로 손상이 된 하천의 복원 설계보다는 손상이 안된 하천의 구조와 기능 이해에 더 중점을 두었다. 따라서 이것 하나만으로 하천 복원에 관한 모든 기술적 지식을 얻기는 어렵다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 가이드라인 제작팀의 규모와 노력 등을 고려할 때 당분간 미국은 물론 세계적으로 하천 복원과 자연형 하천공법 등의 실무에 상당한 기여를 할 것으로 보인다.
