A Study on the Factors Affecting Knowledge Contribution in the Public Sector (공공부문에서의 지식기여 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to find factors that have influences on the knowledge contribution activities, and to offer some suggestions to improve the knowledge contribution. Especially this study suggests to improve knowledge contribution by analyzing both on-line and off-line knowledge contribution activities in the public sector. The results of data analysis by structured equation model(SEM) indicate that leadership, intrinsic motivation, and knowledge quality significantly influence on-line and off-line knowledge contribution. Based on the results, the potential implications for the strategy of effective knowledge contribution are discussed.

The Effects of Motivational Factors on the Intention to Contribute Knowledge to Online Communities (온라인 지식 커뮤니티에서의 지식기여 의도의 동기요인)

  • This study examined the intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors affecting the intention to contribute knowledge to online communities. It examined enjoyment, knowledge self-efficacy, and commitment as the intrinsic motivational factors, and anticipated reciprocity, image, and subjective norm as the extrinsic motivational factors. The results showed that intrinsic motivational factors, enjoyment and knowledge self-efficacy were found to have significant influences on attitudes towards knowledge contribution to online communities, but commitment was not. Of the extrinsic motivational factors, anticipated reciprocity was found to have a significant influence on attitudes toward knowledge contribution to online communities, but image and subjective norm were not.

A Study on the Development of an Instrument for Knowledge Contribution Assessment (조직 구성원의 지식기여도 평가 도구 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper defines appraisal items and weights of the items for the purpose of developing an appraisal instrument that objectively measures employee's effectiveness of knowledge contribution. Deductive research is used for the development of appraisal items and delphi method for the development of weights of the items. In the deductive research the term, "effectiveness of knowledge contribution" is first defined. Then knowledge contribution activities are classified as "dimension of explicit contribution" and " dimension of tacit contribution" due to the characteristics of knowledge. Each dimension is divided again by components. The dimension of explicit contribution is divided according to the content of knowledge, and the dimension of tacit contribution is divided according to the extent of tacitness of knowledge contribution. The total components of dimensions are 7. The dimension of explicit contribution is composed of factual knowledge and procedural knowledge. The factual knowledge is made up of "procedural knowledge outcome" and "other factual knowledge". The procedural knowledge is made up of "procedural knowledge manual" and "lessons-learned procedural knowledge". The dimension of tacit contribution is composed of "agency", "model" and "Q&A". The basic framework for measuring 7 components of knowledge contribution is quantitative and qualitative approach. This paper is premised on the assumption that the outcomes of employee's knowledge contribution activities are recorded in the knowledge management systems in order to evaluate them objectively. The appraisal items are defined as follows: at the dimension of explicit contribution, in quantitative approach, "the upload number" or "performance number", and in qualitative approach, other employee's "referred number" and other employee's "content and format satisfaction evaluation"; at the dimension of tacit contribution, "demanded number of performance" After the development of appraisal items by the deductive method, delphi method was used for the analysis of the weights of the items with the total degree of knowledge contribution, 100. This research does not include the standard marks of the appraisal items. It is because when companies apply this appraisal instrument, they could use their own standard appraisal marks of the appraisal items considering their present situations and companies' goals. Through this almost desert-like research about the appraisal instrument of employee's knowledge contribution effectiveness, it proposes a cornerstone in the research field of appraisal instrument, which provides a standard for employee's knowledge contribution appraisal, and appraisal items that make organizational knowledge to be managed more systemically in business sites.

  • When we introduce knowledge management system in our organization, first of all, we need to change the way of motivating the members so as to voluntarily activate knowledge sharing activity For this, it is very important to establish fair evaluation and adequate reward system about knowledge contribution. In this study, I hypothesized a desirable evaluation and reward model for knowledge contribution on the basis of analysis of documents and cases concerning them in domestic enterprises and R&D institutes that adopted knowledge management. Also, I took a survey to analyze the response of the members of KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) about the evaluation and reward for knowledge contribution. I expect that the analysis results of this study can be applied very usefully in R&B institutes that want to introduce knowledge management.

A Study on Sustaining Knowledge Contribution Intention of Participants in the Open Source Software Development Communities (오픈소스 개발 커뮤니티 참여자들의 지속적 지식기여 의도에 관한 연구)

  • The major characteristic of open source software (OSS) is innovativeness. Innovativeness stems from the process of sharing and solving technical problems. This study analyzes the impact of voluntary participation and collaboration of OSS developers on sustained participation in the community based on organizational citizenship behavior and social capital theories. Based on Bolino et al. (2002) and Wasko and Faraj (2005), a research model and hypotheses are developed. A total of 152 OSS developers participated in the survey. The hypotheses are tested by LISREL modeling. The results of analysis show that royalty, social participation, and advocacy participation enhance or positively influence social capital. In addition, reciprocity and shared vision reinforce intention of sustained knowledge contribution. However, the result shows a statistically insignificant relationship between social participation and shared vision and between cohesiveness and intention of sustained knowledge contribution.

  • 본 연구는 1982년부터 2002년까지 우리나라 15개 산업부분의 패널자료를 이용하여 지식생산함수추정을 시도하였다. 해당 산업부문의 지식생산활동에서 서로 다른 산업부문간에 산호작용영향이 중요하다는 관점을 고려하여 Mark et al. (2005)이 제시한 DSUR(Dynamic Seemingly Unrelated Regression)추정량을 이용하여 관련된 지식생산함수의 모수를 추정하였다. 본 연구의 추정결과를 살펴보면, 우리나라 지식생산함수에서 연구원 규모가 지식생산에 기여하는 탄력성정도는 0.25이며, 기존 지식축적량이 기여하는 탄력성정도는 0.353으로 나타났다. 이러한 실증분석 결과는 우리나라의 경우에 기존 지식축적량이 새로운 지식생산에 기여하는 탄력성정도가 1보다 작음을 보여준다. 지식생산함수의 관하여 추정된 계수의 크기가 시사하는 바는 우리나라의 장기적 경제성장률은 제품 및 서비스생산함수에 관련된 탄력성과 인구성장증가율에 따라서 결정되기 때문에 정부의 직접적인 R&D정책개입보다는 지식관리 및 보급 그리고 공유체계정비라는 간접적 R&D정잭개입을 통하여 지속적인 경제성장전략을 추진해야한다는 주장을 뒷받침한다고 볼 수 있다.

  • 지식경제사회에서 국가의 경쟁력은 국가의 잠재적 지식자원을 어떻게 유형화하고 부가가치화하느냐에 따라 결정된다. 국가의 지식자원을 각 개별 경제주체가 소유한 지식자원의 총체적 개념으로 정의할 때 이 개별 주체들의 지식자원을 공유하도록 유도하고 공유된 지식을 활용하여 부가가치화 하도록 하는 것이 국가의 지식경쟁력 강화와 직결되는 정부의 역할일 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 개별 경제주체가 소유하고 있는 지식을 국가적 차원에서 공유토록 유도하고 그것을 활용하여 경쟁력을 강화토록 하는 산업지식유통시스템 모형을 제안한다. 정부의 정책적 배려와 지원하에 본 연구의 제안이 현실화된다면, 산업지식유통 시스템은 산업수준의 지식유통 활성화를 통하여 기업의 지식기반 경영능력의 향상에 기여하고 선진국과의 지식네트워크를 통한 선진 지식의 도입 활성화에 기여함으로써 지식경쟁력 강화를 통한 국가 경쟁력 향상에 이바지 할 것이다.

  • This paper is to outline a methodology for establishing the fair market value of knowledge assets that may be associated with a going-concern business enterprise and identify the elements of knowledge assets and provide the basic concepts for valuing thorn Within this contort we will identify the nature of some of the more common or well-know forms of knowledge assets, discuss the normal relationship of these forms of knowledge assets to the monetary and tangible assets of a business enterprise from an investor's perspective.
