Five representative reference evapotranspiration(RET) equations were selected, and these equations were compared with pan evaporation by correlation analysis. Pan coefficients were also estimated. Furthermore, five selected RET equations were compared to find the similarity among those at the 21 meteorological stations located in South Korea. Five RET equations selected from 4 different category were Penman(combination approach), FAO Penman-Monteith(FAO P-M) (single source approach), Makkink and Priestley-Taylor (radiation approach) and Hargreaves(temperature approach) equations. In this study, the geographical and topographical conditions were considered for the selection of study stations. The daily meteorological data measured from 1970 at an interval of 5 years were applied in this study. The evapotranspiration estimates obtained by applying evapotranspiration equations were evaluated with numerical and graphical methods. The correlation coefficients between pan evaporation and RET in study stations were above 0.9 indicating very high correlation; however, the slopes of the individual regression lines show the values greater or less than 1.0. Hargreaves equation(temperature approach) shows the most similar evapotranspiration estimates to those of FAO P-M equation from 12 study stations, which are located near to seashore except Daegu station. On the other hand, Priestley-Taylor equation(radiation approach) shows the most similar evapotranspiration estimates to those of FAO P-M equation from 8 study stations, which are located in inland.

The main results that can be drawn from the thematical analysis, based on 173 geographical names of Dong(洞) in Daegu city, are as follows. Firstly, the origin of the geographical name of Dong is divided into 10 groups such as natural landscape, human landscape, situation, and so on. Thematically, natural landscape is the most important factor among them. In particular, Dong-gu is such a case since Mt. Palgong and Geumho river are widely distributed around the area. Secondly, the origins of the geographical name of Dong in Jung-gu and Buk-gu are mainly concerned with human landscape and situation. Especially, Daegu-Eupseong(大邱邑城) has a great influence on the origin of the geographical name of Dong in Jung-gu. Thirdly, in 1914, the unification of administrative district established new Dongs(洞) and the geographical names of the new Dongs were made by borrowing each word from the existing geographical names of Dong. Fourthly, the geographical names of Dong in Suseong-gu and Dalseo-gu made after 1980s' were made in many cases by utilizing the existing natural landscapes. However, it is identified that Suseong field in Suseong-gu, Seongdang lake and Mt. waryong in Dalseo-gu have been recognized as the important natural landscapes. Lastly, the geographical name of Dong is commonly concerned with historical place names such as Gongsan battle in Dong-gu. It is judged that the geographical names of Dong based on Gongsan battle or a most intriguing piece of legend will make a great contribution on developing the regional tourism by storytelling.

The amputation of body parts of wild animals can affect their activities in the wild and the behavior of mothers raising their cubs can cause behavioral characteristics in their offspring. In 2017, an Asiatic black bear was caught in a snare at the Jirisan National Park and had a right forefoot amputation. It was released into the wild the same year and gave birth to two cubs. The seasonal analysis of the behavioral rites of five females who gave birth in the same year as this individual showed specific home ranges, activity altitudes, and movement distances compared to other populations. Physical disabilities in the mother could lead to difficulties in food activity, hibernation, and cub-rearing, but the bear's maternal instincts helped to overcome difficulties in the wild and ensure the cubs' survival. It also became a special experience in the process of promoting the restoration of Asiatic black bears at Jirisan National Park. Although the Asiatic black bear's cubs, which grew up in difficult conditions compared to other populations, are not currently causing problems, continuous monitoring will help determine the success of the disabled mother cub-rearing study. Furthermore, these case studies will be used to establish long-term management directions and plans for conflicts with people from various perspectives.

In this study, when interpreting leakage using the concept of geographical dispersion based on grid, to choose an appropriate spatial resolution, the statistical characteristics of drainage path length and the pattern of change of hydrodynamic parameters have been observed. Drainage path length has been calculated using an 8-direction algorithm from digital elevation model, from which the hydrodynamic parameters of the watershed were estimated. The scales of topographical map for this analysis are 1:5,000 and 1:25,000, appling grid sizes 5, 10, 15, 20 m and 20, 30, 50, 100, 150, 200 m, respectively. As results of this analysis, depending on the scale of stream networks, the statistical characteristics of drainage path length by spatial resolution and hydrodynamic parameters of the watershed have been changed. Based on the above results, when interpreting leakage using the concept of the geographical dispersion based on grid, in the case of 1:5,000 scale topographical map, a spatial resolution of 5 m will be better showing geographical and hydrodynamic characteristics to apply to the well developed stream network in basins, spatial resolution of 5~20 m to the less developed stream network in basins. And in the case of 1:25,000 scale topographical map, spatial resolution below 50 m is more desirable to show above two characteristics to apply to both cases.

Although landslides were frequently occurred under Tripterygium regelii and Rubus sp. vegetations, the damage of landslide was not observed in sasa (Sasa borealis) stands. These phenomena may be affected by forest vegetation types. This result suggested that the landslide occurred in Jirisan (Mt.) National Park may be closely related to water retention capacity at Sasa borealis stands. This study compared and analyzed the water retention capacity of each soil horizon of sasa, larch (Larix leptolepis) and mongolian oak (Quercus mongorica) stands. Soil bulk density in A horizon was lower in sasa (0.776g/$cm^3$) than in mongolian oak (0.828g/$cm^3$) and in larch stands (1.282g/$cm^3$). Water permeability in A horizon was 0.02055cm/sec for sasa, 0.00575cm/sec for mongolian oak, and 0.0007cm/sec for larch stands, respectively. The water permeability of sasa stand was about 3.6 times and about 29 times higher than in mongolian oak and in larch stands, respectively. This result indicates that water infiltration of soil surface during a rain event is more rapid in sasa than in other two stands. Soil organic matter content in B horizon was lower in larch (0.7%) than in mongolian oak (6.5%) and in Sasa (3.3%) stands. The solid ratio in A horizon was highest in larch among three stands, but that of mongolian oak and larch stands showed a similar rate. Pore space rates was 70.7% for A horizon and 70.6% for B horizon of sasa, 68.9% for A horizon and 70.6% for B horizon of sasa, 68.9% for A horizon and 70.6% for B horizon of mongolian oak forests and 51.7% for A horizon and 49.2% for B horizon of larch forests, respectively. According to pore space rates, the water retention capacity may be poor in larch stand compared with other two stands. Soil strength in sasa and mongolian stands was over 25kgf/$cm^2$ from 40cm depth, while the strength was over 25kgf/$cm^2$ from 25cm depth in larch stand. The result indicates that tree growth and water permeability in larch stand could be limited due to high soil strength. Larch stand was poor for soil pore space development to be offered to the water retention capacity, but water retention capacity of A horizon soil in sasa stand was high than that of other two stands. Therefore, establishment of sasa stand under larch stand could help to prevent landslides.

To investigate the restoration procedure on soil physical properties at the surface of visiting road affected by rest-year system. This study was carried out at visiting roads of stream of Chilsun in Jirisan. Mean soil strength in 20cm of soil depth was lower in the Rest-Year System areas (1.5-1.9 times in Site 2, 1.1-7.5 times in Site 3) than in the control (Site 1). Soil strength was recovered by the Rest-Year System in the national park. Mesopore rate (pF 2.7) in 0-15 cm of soil depth was higher in the Rest-Year System areas (1.2 times) than in the control. This indicates that mesopore rate is rapidly restoring in the Rest-Year System areas. Pore space rate in 0-7.5 cm of soil depth was higher in the Rest-Year System areas (23.2% in Site 2, 23.6% in Site 3) than in the control (22.4% in Site 1). Pore space rate in 7.5-15 cm of soil depth was also higher in the Rest-Year System areas (22.9% in Site 2 and Site 3) than in the control (18.9% in Site 1). Soil pore space was remediable by the Rest-Year System. Bulk density in 0-7.5 cm of soil depth was lower in the Rest-Year System areas (1.674g/$cm^3$ in Site 2, 1.668g/$cm^3$ in Site 3) than in the control (1.723g/$cm^3$ in Site 1). Bulk density in 7.5-15 cm of soil depth was lower in the Rest-Year System areas (1.785g/$cm^3$ in Site 2 and 1.721g/$cm^3$ in Site 3) than in the control (1.721g/$cm^3$ in Site 1). Soil bulk density was decreased in the Rest-Year System areas of the national park. Amount of soil erosion was lower in the Rest-Year System areas ($0.017m^3$/km/yr in site 2, $0.023m^3$/km/yr in site 3) than in the control ($0.054m^3$/km/yr in site 1).

This paper criticized the recent Korean 'creative economy policies' focused on regional developmental implications. Even though the policies targeted to promote ICT new startups and build virtuous circle of ICT industrial ecosystem in Korea as a whole, the outside regions of the Seoul-Busan industrial axis where the bases of ICT industries are very weak would suffer from systematic exclusion in ICT investments and deepening regional disparities. Second, ICT-centered policies would selectively affect or operate commensurate with the size of regions in this low-growth, after-financial crisis age. Third, the possibilities of regional insularity and lock-in in these low levels of 'related variety' regions would worsen the industrial competitiveness. Lastly, the policies should be reoriented to fortify region-based creative economic ecosystem based upon triple helix learning region.

There are a few interesting areas which show freezing during summer season in Korea, three of them are especially important. They are located at Milyang(Gyungnam province), Uisung and Chungsong(Gyungbook province). They are named Eoleumgol(ice-valley) or Binghyul(ice-cave). The purpose of this study is to clarify geomorphological and geological characteristics about the distribution areas of freezing during summer season in Korea in relation to previous works, which have been studied in hydrological or micro-climatological viewpoints. The main results are summarized as follows. 1) The main geomorphological and geological characteristics in the distribution areas of freezing during summer season (1) Thick debris accumulated slope within deep valley (2) North facing slope (3) The component debris of volcanic rock such as andesite or rhyolite 2) The ice-cave as a system that give rise to freezing phenomenon in summer season is closely related to talus slope. The ice-cave has thick accumulated debris and lots of vacant spaces within the rock deposits, some of vacant spaces are very big and connected with underground water system. 3) A partly freezing within underground water system is required freezing phenomenon in summer season. Judging from this point of view, two ideas are suggested; one is the evaporation theory, another is that the frozen condition in winter remains untill late summer.

While the growth of Taegu has occurred through the land readjustment project, the public sector development project and the construction of roads, its growth pattern has been shaped by physical constraints such as mountains, streams and rail roads. The processes of urban growth of Taegu are classified into four stages: the stage of urban embryo in the Chosun Era; the formation stage of the basic urban system after the Japanese Colonial Era up to 1960; the stage of urban growth in the industrialization period from 1960s to 1980; and lastly, the stage of urban expansion and maturation, with construction of extensive newly developed districts, after the 1980s. Since its promotion to a metropolitan city with the inclusion of Seongseo, Wolbae, Gosan, Ansim and Chilgok in 1981, those regions have grown into newly developed residential districts, with its accompanying high density and high rise apartments complexes, through the public sector development project. These newly developed districts are located about six to seven kilometers away from CBD of the city along with main radial roads. The sites are also located on the route of the fourth belt way of the city. While the Sangin, Seongseo and Jisan Beommul newly developed districts have developed contiguously with the existing built-up areas, the Siji and Chilgok districts have developed separately by the green belt and the Geumho River, respectively.

The industrial development of Goryeong County was started by the operation of the Ssangrym Agro¬industrial complex in the 1980s. As of 2m3, there are 6 industrial complexes in Goryeong County which account for 80 percent of total employment and 67 percent of total production outPuts in local manufacturing. The local manufacturing industries grew steadily before the 1997 financial crisis which resulted in industrial decline and have shown again a growing tendency since 2000. In this period of growth, manufacturing outPuts are increased and the industrial structure are improved, while employment and value added are in stagnation. The major industrial agglomerations are based in Gaejin-Myun, Dasan-Myun and Ssangrym-Myun, all of which are those in which the agro-industrial complex is operated. More than half of local manufacturing finns are those which came to move in from other regions, looking for cheap labour forces, agglomeration of the related finns and the easy accessibility to transport and communication. However, such local advantages are increasingly losing due to the shortage of labour forces and the lack of industrial networks. Some policy agendas can be suggested as follows. First of all, industrial policy should attempt links with the building-up of the Daegu Technopolis and the up-grading of the local industrial structure towards the knowledge-based industries. Secondly, the local government should make efforts to establish the innovation supporting system for local firms and the industrial and residential basis.
