Development A Standard of Traffic Signal Controller and Expectations of Standardization (교통신호제어기 표준 규격 개발)

  • As of March 2005, the standard of traffic signal controllers became effective. The standard presents specifications and functions of a traffic signal controller which collects traffic information, sends it to the traffic control center, and controls traffic signal with adequate traffic signal timing provided by the traffic control center. Since the controllers by the previous standard lack parts compatibility and have different control functions and communication protocol, the maintenance cost has been increased. Also, some important functions like conflict detection have not worked out perfectly. To overcome these disadvantages, first of all, this standard secures hardware compatibility. Conflict detection method has been enhanced. Communication protocol to the traffic control center was included in the standard. With this standard, independent maintenance system and prompt treatment of hardware malfunctions becomes possible. Also, the unified intersection traffic control method will increase traffic safety.

  • This paper suggests a new map-matching algorithm for matching traveling trace of vehicle, which is measured by GPS receiver, to the road of a digital map This eventually brings the Improvement of positioning accuracy of the vehicle with GPS receiver After representing the travelling vehicle's motion by state equations using Singer's model, the proposed map-matching algorithm places the position of a vehicle right on the road and also improves the positioning accuracy of the vehicle using a Kalman filter In the crossroad, since it is difficult to determine precisely a current travelling road, we take linear regression to the estimated values from Kalman filtering This gives the direction angle of turning vehicle, then we can determine the correct route direction after comparing with each route-direction angle at the intersection.

  • When a video surveillance system tracks a specific object, it is very important to get quickly the information of the object through fast image processing. Usually one camera surveillance system for tracking the object made results in various problems such like occlusion, image noise during the tracking process. It makes difficulties on image based moving object tracking. Therefore, to overcome the difficulties the multi video surveillance system which installed several camera within interested area and looking the same object from multi angles of view could be considered as a solution. If multi cameras are used for tracking object, it is capable of making a decision having high accuracy in more wide space. This paper proposes a method of recognizing and tracking a specific object like a car using the homography in which multi cameras are installed at the crossroad.

A study on Link Travel Time Estimating Methodology for Traffic Information Service (Determination of an Adequate Sample Size) (교통정보제공을 위한 구간통행시간 산출 방법론 연구 (적정표본수 결정방법을 중심으로))

  • 구간검지체계를 기반으로 한 첨단교통정보제공시스템(Advanced Traveler Information Systems)은 그 기능 수행시 다음의 중요 고려사항을 지닌다. 첫째는 제공 정보의 신뢰성이며, 둘째는 정보수집비용에 관련한 수집자료수의 한계이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 한계성 극복을 위해 보다 대표성 있는 교통정보 형태의 설정 및 통계적으로 신뢰성 있는 정보산출을 위해 요구되는 적정표본수의 결정에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 도시고속도로(올림픽대로)와 도시간선도로(천호대로)의 실측 구간통행시간분포 분석결과 단일교차로 구간의 경우 다른 구간들의 단일봉(unimodal)의 정규분포형태와는 다른 두 개의 봉우리를 지닌 분포형태(bimodal)가 나타났다. 따라서 이러한 구간은 기존과는 다른 새로운 교통정보 형태가 필요하며, 본 논문에서는 모든 통과차량들의 평균통행시간으로 정의되는 한 개의 대표치가 아닌 신호주기에 의한 정지여부에 따라 분리되는 주행시간과 지체시간 또는 주행속도와 통행속도 개념의 세분화된 정보형태를 설정하였다. 또한 중심극한정리를 기초로 한 통계적인 표본수 결정식을 이용하여 설정된 신뢰수준 하에서의 정보산출을 위해 요구되는 적정 표본수를 산출하였다. 그 결과, 교통이 혼잡할수록 요구되는 표본수는 적어지는 것으로 나타났다. 우선 적정 표본수 만큼의 표본추출을 하고 제안된 정보산출 방법에 의해 교통정보를 산출한 후 실측치와의 오차를 비교하였다. 그 결과 산출된 교통정보는 신뢰수준 95%와 허용오차 5㎞/h를 만족하였다. 다음으로 구간검지체계를 이용하여 정보를 산출하는 타시스템 교통정보와의 오차율을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 실측치와 본 연구의 산출방법에 의한 교통정보, 로티스교통정보 및 차량번호판 인식시스템의 교통정보와의 비교 결과 제안된 교통정보형태의 타당성을 볼 수 있었다.

  • COSMOS(Cycle, Offset, Split Model for Seoul), a real-time traffic adaptive signal system. estimates queue lengths on each approach on the basis of arithmetic average spot speeds calculated on loop detectors installed at each of two adjacent lanes. In this paper, A new method, a traffic volume-weighted average method, was studied and compared with the existing arithmetic average method. It was found that the relationship between the ratio of volumes of two lanes and the difference of average speed of each lane has a linear form. With field data, The two methods were applied and the proposed method shows more stable and reasonable queue estimation results.

  • Automobile collision analysis is composed of various shapes, and the speed variation working to the vehicle during collision are utilized as a very important factor in evaluating the degree of vehicle collision or passenger safety. So, the method of analyzing result values on the speed variation utilizing collision analysis program become necessary. This study utilized PC-Crash program in order to compare actual values and analyzed values of braking distance with the friction coefficient of road surface according to vehicle velocity. As a result, the smaller friction coefficient found to be larger error, and the maximum error range of collision velocity in case of each different vehicles (MATIZ, SONATA, or BUS) at the intersection showed 1.2%, 1.8%, 3.1% according to the difference of vehicle weight. Moreover, an accidental fall at IN-CHEON large bridge in order to reappear was verified with practicing simulation which has a slight error.

  • Walking plays an important role in promoting peoples' health and reducing the increasing pressure of traffic congestion. However, for cities in developing countries located in areas with unfavorable weather, such as hot and humid weather, there is not much research on walking. Therefore, this study focuses on the walkability and the effect of the built environment on walking in the center district of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The correlation between the built environment and walking frequency of people was analyzed. Besides common elements that have been used in previous studies, other specific factors of the built environment were determined to estimate the walkability index. The results were then compared with the amount of walking obtained from surveys of local people. The result shows that people tend to walk more in the areas with a higher walkability index.

Estimating Utility Function of In-Vehicle Traffic Safety Information Incorporating Driver's Short-Term Memory (운전자 단기기억 특성을 고려한 차내 교통안전정보의 효용함수 추정)

  • Most traffic information that drivers receive while driving are stored in their short-term memory and disappear within a few seconds. Contemporary modeling approaches using a dummy variable can't fully explain this phenomenon. As such, this study proposes to use utility functions of real-time in-vehicle traffic safety information (IVTSI), analyzing its safety impacts based on empirical data from an on-site driving experiment at signalized intersection approach with a limited visibility. For this, a driving stability evaluation model is developed based on driver's driving speed choice, applying an ordered probit model. To estimate the specified utility functions, the model simultaneously accounts for various factors, such as traffic operation, geometry, road environment, and driver's characteristics. The results show three significant facts. First, a normal density function (exponential function) is appropriate to explain the utility of IVTSI proposed under study over time. Second, the IVTSI remains in driver's short-term memory for up to nearly 22 second after provision, decreasing over time. Three, IVTSI provision appears more important than the geometry factor but less than the traffic operation factor.

  • Purpose : Verification within 5mm is one of the important QA process of IMRP and SRS. Therefore, we improve accuracy of patients set-up using scale point. Materials and Methods : We compare MLC scale pointer with customerized port film graticule for patients who was underwent IMRT and SRS. Results : Scale pointer using MLC showed accurate location of patients landmark including divergency of beam, and any point of patient could be certified by means of cross of MLC. Conclusion : MLC scale pointer is effective and convenient method in verification of patients set-up using L-gram.

  • Recently, Classification of characters in a 3D FPS game has emerged as a very significant issue. In this study, We propose the game character Classification method using Image Region Segmentation of the extracting meaningful object in a simple operation. In this method, first used a non-linear RGB color model and octree color quantization scheme. The input image represented a less than 20 quantized color and uses a small number of meaningful color histogram. And then, the image divided into small blocks, calculate the degree of similarity between the color histogram intersection and adjacent block in block units. Because, except for the block boundary according to the texture and to extract only the boundaries of the object block. Set a region by these boundary blocks as a game object and can be used for FPS game play. Through experiment, we obtain accuracy of more than 80% for Classification method using each feature. Thus, using this property, characters could be classified effectively and it draws the game more speed and strategic actions as a result.
