A Study on Transport the Hydrological Property of Debris Accumulation at Flood (홍수시 유송잡물 이동에 관한 수리학적 특성연구)

  • 강원도 산간지역에 위치한 소하천의 경우 유송잡물 및 토석류에 의하여 교량이 파괴되거나, 통수능이 작아져 댐의 역할을 하게 됨으로 인해 교량 상류지역이 침수피해를 입는 경우가 많이 발생하고 있으며 강원도 산간지역에 설치된 소규모 수공구조물들은 교량의 경우 교각이 많아 경간장이 짧고, 교량 상판이 제방고 보다 낮게 설치되어 있는 등 하천흐름에 장애를 주는 많은 요인들을 내재하고 있어 홍수시 하천유량의 증가에 따른 하천흐름 해석, 유송잡물의 발생원인 및 수공구조물에 미치는 영향들에 관한 판단기준 마련이 시급한 실정이다. 유송잡물의 발생경로는 대부분 산지계류에서 집중호우시 산사태발생에 따른 유목과 토석류 발생이 주원인이 된다. 또한 유송잡물은 큰 홍수시 고수위가 오랜 시간동안 지속될 경우 가장 많이 발생하는데 이때 발생한 유송잡물은 개별적으로 이송되고 일반적으로 하천의 중앙으로 이동하는 경향이 있으며 수심이 깊고 유속이 빠른 곳에 집중된다. 또한 유송잡물은 큰 홍수시 고수위가 오랜 시간동안 지속될 경우 가장 많이 발생하는데 이때 발생한 유송잡물은 개별적으로 이송되고 일반적으로 하천의 중앙으로 이동하는 경향이 있으며 수심이 깊고 유속이 빠른 곳에 집중된다. 본 연구에서는 홍수시 유송잡물 이동특성에 대한 국내 외 문헌조사, 현장피해사례조사 및 현장모니터링 조사를 실시하고 1차원 모형인 HEC-RAS와 2차원 모형인 RMA-2를 이용하여 수리모델링 분석에 따른 수치모의를 실시하고 분석하였다.

  • 직격뇌가 높은 건축물에 치거나 인접 건물로부터 뇌전류가 유입되었을 때 잘못된 피뢰설비로 인한 피해는 매우 심각한 실정이다. 낙뢰가 치는 순간에 반도체와 같은 민감한 전자부품을 사용하는 전자 및 통신기기는 뇌전류로 인한 전자기장의 영향으로 오동작이 발생하거나 부품의 손상을 입기가 쉽다. 본 논문에서는 건축물 구조체에 직격뇌가 유입되었을 때 건축물 구조체 및 건물 주위에 나타나는 전위분포특성을 연구하였다. 본 논문에서 30m 높이 건축물의 상부 모서리와 중앙부 그리고 건축물 하부 모서리와 중앙부로 뇌전류가 유입된다고 가정하여 건축물의 전계분포특성을 시뮬레이션하였으며, 뇌전류는 2중 지수함수형태로 모의된 20kA 임펄스 서지 전류를 주입하였다. 뇌서지 전류의 주파수 특성은 Fast Fourier Transform(FFT)을 이용하여 얻었으며, 얻어진 주파수 값을 이용하여 건축물 구조체와 인접지역의 Scalar Potentials과 Electric Fields의 특성을 시뮬레이션하였다. 또한 철골 빔 건축물의 철골 빔에 직접 뇌전류가 유입되는 경우와 건물 하부의 접지전극에 뇌전류가 유입되는 경우로 분리 하여 연구하였다. 그 결과 뇌전류의 유입경로가 건축물의 모서리부분 보다는 중심부에 위치될 때 전위 및 전계 크기가 작았으며 건축 철골구조물보다 건축물 하부에 접지전극이 설치될 때 더 낮은 전계 값을 갖는 것을 확인하였다.

A Study on Typhoon Impacts in the Nakdong River Basin Associated with Decaying Phases of Central-Pacific El Niño (중앙태평양 엘니뇨의 쇠퇴특성에 따른 낙동강 유역의 태풍영향 분석)

  • This study classified abnormal sea surface temperature changes of the central pacific region according to three evolution patterns. Focusing on typhoons that affect the Korean Peninsula, the research analyzed typhoon's occurrence spot and track, change in the central pressure characteristics, and the characteristics of change in typhoon precipitation and the number of occurrences of heavy rainfall in the Nakdong River Basin. As a result of analysis, in case of prolonged-decaying years and symmetric-decaying years, typhoon-related summer rainfall and heavy rainy days appeared to be higher than long-term average. But in case of abrupt-decaying years, the pattern of general decrease appeared. This is because typhoon's occurrence spot is located comparatively near the Korean peninsula, typhoon's central pressure is high, and typhoon's route generally moves to Japan. As the outcome, this study is expected to reduce flood damage through analyzing the characteristics of typhoon's activity according to CP El Ni$\tilde{n}$o evolution patterns and the characteristics of local typhoon rainfall. In addition, it is expected to provide useful information for establishing adaptation and mitigation to climate change.

Parking Location Control Algorithm for Self-Driving Cars (자율주행 자동차를 위한 주차 위치 제어 알고리즘)

  • With the advent of autonomous cars, we explored the problems which will soon arise while parking in car parks. These include structure of parking lot suitable for autonomous cars, finding the closest parking slot available, and navigation to the location. We provide an initial solution, wherein we use a central server and the graph of the parking lot to guide cars to the closest parking slots available. Our experiments have shown that the proposed method is effective for the controlled parking for self-driving cars.

  • A wireless ad-hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any centralized adminstration or standard support services. Wireless ad-hoc networks may be quite useful in that they can be instantly deployable and resilient to change. In this environment, for many crucial distributed applications, it is necessary to design robust virtual infrastructures that are fault-tolerant, self-stabilized, and resource-efficient. For this task this paper proposes a scheme of maintaining robust spanning trees which are little affected by topological changes. By maintaining such a spanning tree and adapting it to the environments with frequent topological changes, one can improve the reliability and efficiency of many applications that use the spanning tree.

  • The Ultra-Wide Band sensor is widely used as a wireless indoor localization technology with frequency bands in the GHz range. Meanwhile, in museums, not only the real-time location of visitors but also information on visit route and duration time is required for patrons' behavior analysis. In this paper, the analysis system based Ultra-Wide Band radar for visitor's viewing behavior is introduced and experimented in the real environment. We built the system in National Museum of Korea, and its 22 Ultra-Wide Band radar sensors receive the real-time location of their visitors: this analyzes the visit route and visit time for patrons.

  • Recently, due to an explosive growth of the internet traffic, the limitations of a current framework for a mobility management have been focused. The current centralized mobility management is prone to several problems and limitations: suboptimal routing, low scalability, signaling overhead, and a single point of failure. To overcome these problems and limitations, IETF is working about the distributed mobility management scheme that the centralized mobility functions of HA(Home Agents) are distributed to networks edges such as access routers. These distributions of mobility functions overcome the limitations of the centralized mobility managements and go with the trend of flat networks e.g. more simple network architecture. This paper analyzes the distributed mobility management based on Proxy Mobile IPv6 and demonstrates the performance superiority.

Importance of Governance Infrastructure on Sustainable Agricultural Production: A Case of Central Asia (지속가능한 농업생산에 있어서 거버넌스 기반의 중요성: 중앙아시아 사례 분석)

  • Achievement of sustainable agricultural development is one of the most important issues in many developing countries. In addition, basic inputs such as labor and capital, and social and environmental factors are important factors in agricultural production in developing countries. This study examines impact of governance conditions of Central Asian newly independent Post-Soviet Union countries on agricultural production and production efficiencies by using World Bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators. The studied countries had similar socio-economic conditions and environments before independence; however, those countries have different forms of development. Empirical results showed that governance improvement helped to increase agricultural production significantly. In addition, we found that each governance factor has different effects on agricultural production. The findings of this study would be a base for sustain agricultural production in developing countries, and stressed the necessity of improved governance conditions as well as input investments for achievement of agricultural development.

A result of prolonged monitoring underwater sound speed in the center of the Yellow Sea (황해 중앙부에서 수중음속의 장기간 모니터링 결과)

  • A time-series variation of temperature, salinity, and underwater sound speed was analyzed using an Array for Real-time Geostrophic Oceanography (ARGO) float which autonomously collects temperature and salinity for about 10month with 2 days cycle among 12 floats in the center of the Yellow Sea. As a result, the underwater sound channel appeared below the thermocline as the surface sound channel, which is dominant in the winter season, reduced in April. Besides, for a certain time in the spring season, the sound ray reflected the sea surface frequently due to the short-term temperature inversion effect. Based on the case of successful observation of ARGO float in the shallow water, using prolonged monitoring unmanned platform may contribute to predicting sound transmission loss if the temperature inversion and sound channel including background environment focusing are investigated in the center of the Yellow Sea.

  • Since the 1st of July, 2004, the public transport system of the Seoul metropolitan area has been rearranged. In the new system, bus lines are divided into 4 classes-wide area, arterial road, branch, and rotation lines with renewed fare system based on the total distance travelled. Since central control center known as the Bus Management System (BMS) integrates the entire system operation. it now becomes feasible to collect travel information and provide it to the users scientifically and systematically. The Purpose of this study is to forecast transit travel time using real-time traffic data coming from both buses and subway. This is significant contribution since provision of real-time transit information and easy access to it would most likely boost the use of mass transit system, alleviating roadway congestion in the metropolitan area.
