  • Urban green spaces have been contributing to the improvement of environmental, mental, and physical health for humans. In addition, recent studies showed the potential role of vegetation in reducing the amount of crime in inner-city neighborhoods at the micro-scale level. However, little is known about the positive role of urban green areas in improving urban safety at the regional level. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between urban green areas and actual outdoor crime rates, while also considering socio-demographic factors. The study area is the city of Austin, Texas, USA, which consists of 506 block groups. This study utilized socio-demographic factors based on U.S. Census data and vegetation-related factors utilizing GIS and ENVI software. For analyses, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and an ordinary least square (OLS) regression were utilized. The results from ANOVA showed that yearly crime rates per acre for areas having 0%~25% trees in their neighborhoods were 0.46% and 1.05% higher than those of having 25%~50% and >50% trees in the neighborhoods, respectively. The results from the OLS regression represented that income, NDVI and park rates in neighborhoods were negatively associated with the crime rate per acre, whereas the percentage of minorities and the percentage of teenage school dropouts were positively associated with the crime rate per acre. This study implies that urban green areas may help to improve the safety of urban areas.

Through the couching technique Psychodrama, it is possible to accurately inform the situation of the victim, the persecutor, and the rescuer who plays the psychological game. Also, couching technique can perform role training for solution. The concept of the ego state of The Transactional analysis can be useful for the director to understand the Protagonist's language and attitude and to set the scene. • Increase of immigrants in Korean society means that ethnic and cultural diversity witnessed in Western immigration countries is also appearing in overall Korean society. The purpose of this study is to suggest policy directions which fit multicultural society in the future by comparing and analyzing the difference in the recognition of multiculturalism between Koreans and immigrants. As the result of empirical analysis, it turned out that there is difference in recognition between Koreans and immigrants, for which different policy directions are required. First, it was contact experience that decided Koreans' multicultural attitudes. High level of influence of contact experience means that although Koreans take multicultural society as granted, they actually have low level of contact experience with immigrants, which requires policy tools to convert actual strengthened contact experience into positive directions. Second, in the case of immigrants, the less they recognize discrimination and the more bias is fortified, the more they accept multiculturalism as a threat. This exhibits their dual sense of identity in which they recognize themselves as foreigners toward Koreans but they distinguish themselves from other foreigners. Thus, assimilation to Korean society is not deemed to be the only alternative and Korean society needs to practice genuine multiculturalism to strengthen immigrants' ethnic identity. Study also conducted in-depth discussions on the implications of above results.

This type of accident, which is known as a dog bite accident throughout the United States. Dog bite accidents are serious public health problems and can cause immeasurable hidden costs to the community. South Korea has enacted several laws to address dog bite accidents, which include the Animal Protection Act, the Civil Act, and the Criminal Act. On March 20, 2018, the Animal Protection Act was amended to reinforce the current legislation. This paper is intended to review the present situation of dog bite legislation in several states in the United States, which have a variety of laws that address dog bite accidents, and compare them with current South Korean dog bite legislation. Through this research, this paper will discuss what issues may exist in South Korean's current dog bite laws, analyze the responsibility of companion dog owners, and provide solutions to any issues that are discovered.

  • This study examined the effects and roles of transmedia such as trailer (i.e., trailer) and webtoon OST (i.e., Original Sound Track), which have recently served as extended content in webtoons. In recent years, the number of transmedias using webtoons has increased rapidly, and production and consumption in various directions have been taking place. However, studies on whether these contents lead to positive emotions and attitudes toward webtoons are not actively conducted. Therefore, this paper examined the effect through loyalty and perceived enjoyment, and found that 'increasing immersion in content through transmedia' plays a major role as a major variable. In addition, it is determined whether these mechanisms appear differently by gender, and in the case of women, media consumption tends to be based on emotional signals compared to men, so transmedia will further increase the level of immersion, but webtoon content did not show gender effects on media consumption. This is a meaningful result that shows that in general, media consumption methods according to gender appear differently in webtoons. Therefore, based on the results, this study presented directions and implications to keep in mind when planning the production of various transmedias using webtoons.
