The purpose of this study was to identify the main laboratory instruction types with Classification Scheme of Laboratory Instruction (CSLI) in elementary and secondary schools science. For the purpose, the validity of the instrument CSLI was 4.23 and laboratory instructions were collected in 100 elementary schools and 30 secondary schools. Before analyzing the collected laboratory instructions, the inter-rater reliability about the analysis results was identified as 0.91. The results of this study were found that in elementary school, the main laboratory instruction types were verification type and discovery type and in secondary school were discovery type and verification type. In the category of the procedure, a large part of the procedures of laboratory activity in both elementary and secondary schools was given to students by worksheets or teachers themselves. In the category of approach, inductive approach was the main in elementary and deductive approach in secondary.
This paper compared and contrasted the views of effective mathematics instruction by 223 elementary school teachers and 151 middle school mathematics teachers using a questionnaire with 4 main domains (i.e., curriculum and content, teaching and learning, classroom environment and atmosphere, and assessment) and a total of 48 sub-elements. The analysis of results showed that elementary school teachers put their priority on the curriculum and content domain, while middle school counterparts did on the teaching and learning domain. The teachers commonly agreed with instruction which fosters students' self-directed learning ability, reconstructs the curriculum tailored to students' diverse levels, and establishes appropriate interaction between the teacher and students. However, elementary school teachers agreed more than middle school teachers with regard to the 23 elements related to effective mathematics instruction. In contrast, middle school teachers agreed more than their counterparts as for only 2 elements (instruction fostering mathematical representation and instruction eliciting students' learning motivation). This paper includes suggestions and implications related to Korean teachers' perception of effective mathematics instruction.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of perception by analyzing self-reflection journal of the pre-service teacher's in PBL. For this purpose, 30 pre-service teachers participated in PBL for 4 weeks of summer semester. The researcher analyzed the self-reflection journals using ATLAS.ti 8 and the meaning of the teaching innovation factors was derived from the self-reflection journal contents. The results of the study are as follows. Pre-service teachers' solved the problem from the teacher's perception. Through the PBL process, the pre-service teachers' perception was changed such as new teaching-learning method, recognition of important of teaching method and interaction. Based on this, this implies the necessity of research on teaching innovation for pre-service teachers' creativity-convergence.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the change in beginning science teachers' inquiry-oriented teaching practice through mentoring program. Participants in this study are three mentor teachers and three beginning teachers. The three beginning teachers are middle school science teachers who have less than four years teaching experience. Also three science teachers participated in the program as mentors, who have more than twelve years teaching experience. We collected data such as video recordings of beginning teachers' classes, lesson plans, recordings of one to one mentoring and RTOP class observation reports. Mentor teachers observed and analyzed five classes of each beginning teacher. Before the mentoring program, beginning teachers' teaching methods were more concept-oriented and teacheroriented. They rarely used inquiry-elements including prediction, reasoning, hypothesizing and students were not actively engaged in communicative interactions in a classroom. But during the mentoring program, these teachers recognized and responded to student diversity and encouraged all students to participate in science learning. Beginning teachers' teaching methods have changed to become student-oriented, teachers and students collaborated in pursuit of ideas, and students often initiated new activities relevant to an inquiry. As a result, this mentoring program provided beginning teachers the opportunities to reflect on their own teaching and reform their classes. The results show that school-centered mentoring program is helpful to enhance beginning science teachers' inquiry-oriented teaching ability.
Teaching competence is the best part of mathematics teachers's competence. It need to make instruction plan by oneself, systematic self-reflection and improvement in instruction performance for development of teaching competence of pre-service mathematics teacher. As artificial intelligence (AI) is emphasized in elementary and secondary school education, interest in AI-applied class activities is increasing. Since AI is taught across various subjects in schools, teachers must plan lessons based on the principles of convergence education. In this paper, the concept of convergence education and matters to be considered for productive class activities were reviewed. Then, considerations for designing AI classes in schools are presented in the following aspects: characteristics of AI education in schools; educational goals for each school level in the general guidelines of the national curriculum; resources to be referenced when composing class content; perspectives on AI-applied software; and anticipated instructional procedures. As a suggestion, the following is presented. First, it is necessary to derive competencies that can be cultivated by AI education in school. Second, it is necessary to specify the design elements and procedures of AI classes based on the subject characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to investigate secondary science teacher's concepts of good science teaching. To do these, I have developed a questionnaire composed of 32 good teachings on education content, instructional method, instructional environment and atmosphere and assessment categories. 136 secondary science teachers have participated in the questionnaire and were requested to show agreement. Additionally, they were requested to describe the best science teachings that they have experienced. Results are as follows: First, the best science teaching that science teachers thought is a teaching that is in full accord with students' level in education content category, a teaching with an energetic interaction in instructional method category, a teaching in a trustful atmosphere in instructional environment and atmosphere category, a teaching in which students could learn something through a teaching-related assessment in assessment category. Second, secondary science teachers thought that a self-directed learning, a differentiated instruction and a teaching with diverse materials are not important factors in good science teaching. Third, there is a difference between good teaching that secondary science teachers have conceived and good teaching that they have experienced. It shows that science teachers did not precisely understand what good science teaching is. Additionally, I discussed the need of finding a case on good science teachings and a support of an interaction-focused teaching.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the enhancing creative competency and changes in academic challenge for the pre-service teachers. For this purpose, 94 pre-service teachers participated in project learning through the preparation of the convergence instruction and the class demonstration during one semester. The pre and post questionnaire survey was conducted the measurement of creative leader competence and K-NSSE for academic challenge. Analysis of data was performed using the IBM SPSS 18.0 program for the corresponding sample t test. The creative competency included 'higher mental thinking', 'problem solving', 'curiosity', 'sensitivity' 'task commitment', 'the pursuit of social value', and 'co-operations and considerations'. This results was significant(p< .05). Academic challenge, high-order learning domain and learning strategies domain were significant(p< .05). Based on this, in order to generalize the convergence education and convergence lesson, it is necessary to design various convergence lessons and practice study to make a plan and practice it. In addition, the implications for the necessity of correcting and supplementing the effects after repeated convergence lessons were discussed.
This study aims to investigate reflections of secondary pre-service mathematics teachers and their changes through practicing as assistant teacher in mathematics classrooms. For the purpose of this study, research questions are addressed on the reflections and their changes. During the 2015 Spring semester, secondary pre-service mathematics teachers took a course related to working as assistant teachers in regular mathematics lessons in a middle school. This study selected cases of two pre-service teachers. The data such as reports on their practices and final meeting report with teachers were collected during the semester. The results showed that the secondary pre-service mathematics teachers reflected teachers, students, mathematics contents, and themselves in their reports. In addition, each participant showed different contents of reflections. This difference implied that secondary pre-service mathematics teachers could have different reflections according to the types of lessons that they participated in.
