Wireless LAN System based on IEEE 802.1x EAP-TLS Authentication Mechanism (IEEE 802.1x EAP-TLS 인증 메커니즘 기반 Wireless LAN 시스템)

  • The IEEE 802.1x standard provides an architectural framework which can be used various authentication methods. But, IEEE 802.1x also has vulnerabilities about the DoS(Denial of Service), the session hijacking and the MiM(Man in the Middle) attack due to caused by structural of authentication protocol. In this paper, we propose a WLAN system which can offer safety communication by complement of IEEE 802.1x vulnerabilities. The WLAN system accomplishes mutual authentications between authentication servers, clients and the AP using PKI and prevents an illegal user from intervening in communication to disguise oneself as a client, the AP or authentication servers. Also, we guarantee the safety of the communication by the Dynamic WEP key distribution between clients and the AP.

  • The IEEE 802.1x standard provides an architectural framework which can be used various authentication methods. But, IEEE 802.1x also has vulnerabilities about the DoS, the session hijacking and the Man in the Middle attack due to the absence of AP authentication. In this paper, we propose a WLAN secure system which can offer a robust secure communication and a user authentications with the IEEE 802.1x framework. The user authentication on the WLAN secure system accomplishes mutual authentications between authentication severs, clients and the AP using PKI and prevents an illegal user from intervening in communication to disguise oneself as a client, the AP or authentication servers. Also, we guarantee the safety of the communication by doing secure communication between clients and the AP by the Dynamic WEP key distribution.

Side Channel Analysis with Low Complexity in the Diffusion Layer of Block Cipher Algorithm SEED (SEED 블록 암호 알고리즘 확산계층에서 낮은 복잡도를 갖는 부채널 분석)

  • When the availability of embedded device is considered, combined countermeasure such as first-order masking and hiding countermeasures is quite attractive because the security and efficiency can be provided at the same time. Especially, combined countermeasure can be applied to the confusion and diffusion layers of the first and last rounds in order to provide the efficiency. Also, the middle rounds only employs first-order masking countermeasure or no countermeasure. In this paper, we suggest a novel side channel analysis with low complexity in the output of diffusion layer. In general, the attack target cannot be set to the output of diffusion layer owing to the high complexity. When the diffusion layer of block cipher is composed of AND operations, we show that the attack complexity can be reduced. Here, we consider that the main algorithm is SEED. Then, the attack complexity with $2^{32}$ can be reduced by $2^{16}$ according to the fact that the correlation between the combination of S-box outputs and that of the outputs of diffusion layer. Moreover, compared to the fact that the main target is the output of S-box in general, we demonstrate that the required number of traces can be reduced by 43~98% in terms of simulated traces. Additionally, we show that only 8,000 traces are enough to retrieve the correct key by suggested scheme, although it fails to reveal the correct key when performing the general approach on 100,000 traces in realistic device.

A Typology of Maritally Violent Men: Testing the Three Batterer Subtypes Derived from Theory (가정폭력 행위자의 유형: 이론에 따른 세 하위유형의 검증)

  • This study investigated subtypes of men who batter, and explored the differences among them. It was based on 217 subjects from all around the nation who received legal punishment. In the analysis of the typology, we specifically tested whether the Holtzworth-Munroe and Stuart proposed typology was verified. The results of the cluster analysis revealed support for their theoretical distinction for three types of abusers. These results imply that Holtzworth-Munroe and Stuart's batterer typology is applicable to Korean batterers to some degree. Type 1 men demonstrated the lowest levels of physical and psychological abuse toward their wives and were the least likely to have had a history of child abuse or alcohol problems. These men had lower MCMI scores and did not show any extraordinary personality traits. Men in this category were violent only against their wives, had relatively liberal sex role attitudes and had the most satisfaction in their intimate relationships. Type 2 men were violent only at home, using a moderate level of violence. These men had very high levels of dependency on others and showed a borderline, avoident or passive-aggressive personality. The amount of alcohol consumption was similar to Type 1, but scores of jealousy, self-esteem, and attitudinal variables were similar to Type 3 men. They lacked assertiveness skills and reported the least marital satisfaction. Type 3 men used the most severe violence and were violent both inside and outside the home. These men showed signs of antisocial and aggressive personality. They had experienced frequent physical abuse during childhood, were the most likely to abuse alcohol and had lower self-control. Type 3 were the most traditional in their views of women's roles and had attitudes supporting violence. Based upon the study findings, practical implications of enhancing treatment efficacy were considered.

  • Online transactions are more familiar in various fields due to the development of the ICT and the increase in trading platforms. In particular, the amount of transactions is increasing due to the increase in used transaction platforms and users, and reliability is very important due to the nature of used transactions. Among them, the used car market is very active because automobiles are operated over a long period of time. However, used car transactions are a representative market to which information asymmetry is applied. In this paper presents a DID-based transaction model that guarantees reliability to solve problems with false advertisements and false sales in used car transactions. In the used car transaction model, sellers only register data issued by the issuing agency to prevent false sales at the time of initial sales registration. It is authenticated with DID Auth in the issuance process, it is safe from attacks such as sniping and middleman attacks. In the presented transaction model, integrity is verified with VP's Proof item to increase reliability and solve information asymmetry. Also, through direct transactions between buyers and sellers, there is no third-party intervention, which has the effect of reducing fees.

  • With the diverse services of the current M2M environment being expanded to the organizations, the corporations, and the daily lives, the possibility of the occurrence of the vulnerabilities of the security of the related technologies have become an issue. In order to solve such a problem of the vulnerability of the security, this thesis proposes the technique for applying the cryptography algorithm for the protection of the device key of the M2M environment. The proposed technique was based on the elliptic curve cryptography Through the key exchange and the signature exchange in the beginning, the security session was created. And the white box cipher was applied to the encryption that creates the white box table using the security session key. Application results cipher algorithm, Elliptic Curve Cryptography provides a lightweight mutual authentication, a session key for protecting the communication session and a conventional white-box cipher algorithm and was guaranteed the session key used to encrypt protected in different ways. The proposed protocol has secure advantages against Data modulation and exposure, MITM(Man-in-the-middle attack), Data forgery and Manipulation attack.

  • Widespread use of smartphones and wireless LAN accompany a threat called rogue AP. When a user connects to a rogue AP, the rogue AP can mount the man-in-the-middle attack against the user, so it can easily acquire user's private information. Many researches have been conducted on how to detect a various kinds of rogue APs, and in this paper, we are going to propose an algorithm to identify and detect a rogue AP that impersonates a regular AP by showing a regular AP's SSID and connecting to a regular AP. User is deceived easily because the rogue AP's SSID looks the same as that of a regular AP. To detect this type of rogue APs, we use a machine learning algorithm called SVM(Support Vector Machine). Our algorithm detects rogue APs with more than 90% accuracy, and also adjusts automatically detection criteria. We show the performance of our algorithm by experiments.

  • TELNET is vulnerable to network attack because it was designed without considering security. SSL/TLS and SSH are used to solve this problem. However it needs additional secure protocol and has no backward compatibility with existing TELNET in this way. In this paper, we have suggested STELNET(Secured Telnet) which supports security functionalities internally so that has a backward compatibility. STELNET supports a backward compatibility with existing TELNET through option negotiation. On STELNET, A client authenticates server by a certificate or digital signature generated by using ECDSA. After server is authenticated, two hosts generate a session key by ECDH algorithm. And then by using the key, they encrypt data with AES and generate HMAC by using SHA-256. After then they transmit encrypted data and generated HMAC. In conclusion, STELNET which has a backward compatibility with existing TELNET defends MITM(Man-In-The-Middle) attack and supports security functionalities ensuring confidentiality and integrity of transmitted data.

  • Recently, there has been a lot of ongoing research regarding financial transactions and payments due to the emergence of financial technology (FinTech). Payments have been processed through cash and credit cards, and payment methods have been simplified and are more convenient, with mobile payment via mobile cards and mobile phones. This study offers a new mobile payment method by using a mobile phone instead of a card reader or terminal. For payments, authentication is processed with the user's biometrics and a built-in fingerprint scanner, and the payment is processed after receiving an authentication code issued by the authorizing institution to confirm the user's identity. User biometrics and payment information is secured from any kind of malicious hacker by saving it in a Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) section in a smartphone. Regarding key security, every key is securely created in the FIDO TEE section, providing secure mobile payment by neutralizing various malicious attacks, including sniffing and the man-in-the middle attack.

  • Recently, a mobile IPv6 binding update protocol using Address Based Keys (BU-ABK) was proposed. This protocol applies Address Based Keys (ABK), generated through identity-based cryptosystem, to enable strong authentication and secure key exchange without any global security infrastructure. However, because it cannot detect that public cryptographic parameters for ABKs are altered or forged, it is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks and denial of service attacks. Furthermore, it has heavy burden of managing the public cryptographic parameters. In this paper, we show the weaknesses of BU-ABK and then propose an enhanced BU-ABK (EBU-ABK). Furthermore, we provide an optimization for mobile devices with constraint computational power. The comparison of EBU-ABK with BU-ABK shows that the enhanced protocol achieves strong security while not resulting in heavy computation overhead on a mobile node.
