A survey was conducted on 400 care workers working in long-term care facilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. We conducted a hierarchical regression analysis to grasp the effect of the leadership of top-leader and mid-level leader on the care burden of care workers. Monthly income of care workers was significantly associated with care burden. In next step, the leadership of the top-leader affected the care burden of care workers. But, In last model 3, only the leadership of mid-level leader affected the care burden with monthly income. This findings suggested that it is urgent to stabilize the salary level of care workers, and to develop the leadership skills of mid-level leader. The improved leadership of Mid-level Leader will help to reduce jop chaos for care workers.

  • This study examines the effects of transformational leadership on helping behavior for the secretary workers. We also demonstrate comprehensively the moderating effects of job resources(LMX) and job demands(utilization of mobile devices after work) on the relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. The results of this study targeted 140 incumbent secretaries are as follows: First, transformational leadership has a significant positive effect on the helping behaviors of members. Second, the interaction effect of LMX(synergistic effect) was verified in the positive relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. Finally, interaction effects of utilization of mobile devices after work(buffering effect) were confirmed in the relationship between transformational leadership and helping behavior. The results of this study are that transformational leadership of middle managers is important to strengthen worker's helping behavior, but it is also important to understand the contextual factors such as social support(LMX) and work environment(utilization of mobile devices after work) that affect the will and autonomy of members in accepting leadership. Finally, we suggest the theoretical and practical implications of this study, present limitations and future research directions.

  • This article aims to understand the process of effective leadership in the Community Care Centers for the Disabled(CCCD). Using a qualitative approach and the concept of 'Sensemaking', a term introduced by Weick (1995), I described and explored the process of leadership. Sensemaking enables leaders to have a better grasp of what is going on in their environments. Sensemaking theory offers a perspective on leadership that resolves successfully complex situations surrounding the CCCD. The CCCDs face the environmental changes such as a paradigm shift of disability and a rivalry system with private services. In this time of uncertain change, the CCCDs are in need of leadership of the executives who could reduce complexity with shared meaning. Data were collected over 5 weeks from the 6 CCCDs, through semi-structured interviews, with practitioners, middle managers and chief executives. The interview scripts were thematically analyzed through Atlas-ti programme. The findings showed three subjects, the people's perception of environment, organizational visioning and interactions among post positions. Even though the 6 CCCDs were under the same environment, the perceptions and the enactments of the practitioners were influenced by the chief executives' sensemaking. The important factors of the chief executives' sensemaking were the daily interaction as well as ongoing reflection on their experiences.

  • Recently, urban parks are required to actively participate with residents in order to strengthen social functions and maintain sustainable management. This study analyzed the formation process of volunteer resident groups (Chamsamo) in the neighborhood parks in which local residents can participate in an ongoing basis based on the solidarity of a daily living space. The important factors in the activation of resident activity are derived from 5 aspects including resources, local area, resident group capacity, resident group role, and public support. The results of the study are as follows. 1) Life-friendly resources: It was important to find life-friendly resources such as 'Chamsaem' in the park. The combined resources of continuous human activities provided various benefits to the residents. This has led to stronger attachment and community activities to continue to utilize attractive resources in the park. 2) Sharing Common Daily Spaces and Expansion: As the Chamsamo activities were centered around the neighborhood, the network of activists in the local community expanded. This led to continued resident interest and favorable participation as well as to the regional expansion of Chamsamo activities. 3) Park management as part of everyday life: Park management became a part of everyday life, and pleasant park management was facilitated by utilizing the talents of the residents, who carried out diverse activities and constantly streamlined their hard labor. 4) Chamsamo's Leadership Linking Residents and the Public Sector through Leading Park Management Activities: Chamsamo served as a middle leader in linking the public sector and its users. 5) Role and Support of the Public Sector: In order to be able to sustain the activities of residents, the government's willingness to support the resident-led activities of the park in planning and operating the public sector was required. In the public management system of the park, support for residents' activities such as financing, education, and consulting was necessary.

  • This study is aimed at contributing to the future development of Home Economics Education Department by suggesting basic data of TQM(Total Qualify Management) for evaluating TQM of Home Economics Education Departmeut in education colleges. A survey was conducted involving all junior(3rd year) students of Home Economics Education Department in education colleges either by making a visit to 3 different schools or by sending it in the mail to 10 different schools. Responding answer-sheets, 302 copies(88.3%) out of 342 copies in total were returned. Finally, we used 285 copies(83.3%) as data for analysis. The results of this study are as follows: In terms of Professional Qualification of Home Economics Teachers, the students had passion for their Home Economics Education and also had a great pride and mission to be future Home Economics teachers. However, their ability proved to be poor and low in presenting a vision for Home Economics, in conducting extra-curricular activities, and the computer skills. In the case of college students, their satisfaction showed an average point 3.15 on a scale of 5. Those students who entered school voluntarily or those who hoped for re-entrance showed more satisfaction than those who entered school with good academic records or those who do not hope for re-entrance into school. In terms of professors' leadership, Students are perceived to choose 'Transactional Leadership' instead of 'Transformational Leadership'. Students', who have higher satisfaction and hopes for re-entrance, perception level about their professors' leadership style showed higher satisfaction than average. The students empowerment level showed average point 3.52, which is considered relatively high. Students at the college where professors majored in Home Economics Education are employed showed higher empowerment level than students at the college with professors who did not major in Home Economics Education. The result of evaluating general demand for renovating of Home Economics Education Dept. showed that: they perceived the "Teacher Education Course" of Home Economics Education Dept. as in need of cultivating practical skills in secondary school. They also said, "Teaching Method" is in great need of renovation. In the case of teaching method, they preferred laboratory work, and practical training. In earning credits, they emphasized the importance of faithfully completing the "Study of Content". For the Subject Matter Education, they required a training course to be set up in the secondary school. Finally they claimed that the teachers and students need to take the initiative in developing a Curriculum of Home Economics Education Dept. Based on the findings mentioned above, I would like to suggest further research on how to adopt and evaluate TQM in Home Economics Education, and faculty-centered evaluation methods. I also would like to suggest to vitalize quality research through the form of narrative research.
