  • The induction motor drive for the spindle of machining center is required to do not only a constant torque operation in low speed region(below base rpm), but also a constant power operation in high speed region(beyond base rpm). Also, control voltage shortage due to high speed operation must be overcome. The vector controlled inverter system with input 3 phase pwm converter is designed for that kind of condition. We experimented the performance of the inverter system with spindle motor made by Hyosung industries co.

  • When the spindle is rotated for machining the workpiece, the vibration is generated due to the spindle unbalance. This vibration affects surface finish, dimensional accuracy, tool life, and spindle bearings. To compensate this effect of the spindle unbalance, the spindle system using an EME(electro magnetic exciter)is proposed in this paper. In the proposed spindle system, the vibration due to the spindle unbalance is monitored using vibration sensors and is compensated by electromagnetic attractive forces generated in the EME which are excited by anti-direction forces corresponded with the measured unbalance. Firstly, the spindle system using an EME and control system are constructed to compensate the effect of spindle unbalance in this paper. And then the system is modeled by bond graph to analyze the system. Finally, a controller for vibration compensation due to spindle unbalance is designed and is implemented in real experimental system. As a result, experimental results show this proposed spindle system is very effective to compensate the spindle unbalance.

  • Recently, a high speed cutting is essential requirement to satisfy latest demand of high precision product and machining of hard materials. However heat generation by high speed rotation causes many problems. The machining error and shortening spindle lifetime by thermal stress is typical example. Generation of heat is mostly caused by sliding at the rotor and bearing. For minimization of heat generation at bearing, decision of the condition of proper lubrication is necessary. The thermal study about 40,000rpm spindle by changing the condition of oil-air lubrication method is carried out in this paper. The results of this paper can be used effectively in the decision of oil-air lubrication condition of other types of spindle for machine tools.

  • The spindle is the main component in machine tools. The static and dynamic stiffness of the spindle directly affect the machining productivity and surface integrity of the workpiece. The static and dynamic stiffness of the spindle depend on the shaft size, bearing arrangement, bearing span length, and so on. Therefore, the selection of shaft size and bearing span length are important to improve the spindle stiffness. This paper presents the determination of shaft size and bearing span length in spindle design step. In order to select the optimal bearing and built-in motor locations with constraint conditions, the extreme vertices design was applied. The results show that extreme vertices design is usable for spindle design with design constraints.

  • This Paper proposes a simple identification method of the moment of inertia for high performance spindle motor of machine tool. It uses the dynamic equation of a simple mechanical system, the torque reference of a speed controller, and the actual rotating speed of machine. The identified inertia can be for auto-tuning of the gains in the speed controller. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by the computer simulation.

이동열원을 고려한 CNC공작기계의 열오차해석 및 보정

  • 공작기계의 가공정도는 공작기계의 운동기구가 가지고 있는 기하오차와 절작작업시 발생하는 진동, 열,절삭력에 의해서 공작기계의 구조계,주축계,이송계의 변형에 의해서 직접적인 영향을 받는다. 또 가공정도는 제품의 정밀도 및 품질에 직접적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 가공정도를 향상시키기 위한 방법으로 공작기계의 오차를 측정/해석하는 방법이 연구되고 있다. 일반적으로,공작기계의 오차는 Quasi-static 오차와 Dynamic오차로 구분할수 있다. Dynamic 오차는 기계의 진동,채터 및 스핀들의 진동에 의해서만 발생하는 오차이며,Quasi-static 오차는 공작기계 구성요소인 안내면,칼럼,볼스크류등의 기하오차와 온도변화에 의한 열변형오차에 의해서 발생한다. 특히,공작기계 및 절삭가공중에 발생하는 열원에 의한 열변형 오차는 공작기계의 기하오차에 비해서 가공정도에 큰 영향을 미치며[1,2],발생오차의 약 40~70% 정도가열변형 오차에 기인한 것으로 알려져 있다[1]. 실제 많은 실험결과를 볼 때 CNC공작기계이 경우는 열변형에 의한 오차는 기하오차에 비해서 매우 크게 나타났다. 이러한 열변형 오차는 공작기계 주위 온도와 공작기계 구성요소(칼럼,이송유니크,스핀들유니트)의 비선형적인 온도 특성에 의해서 주로 발생하고, Time-variant특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 작업중에 발생하는 온도특성에 따른 열변형 오차를 최소화 할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 스핀들유니트는 냉각방식을 사용하여 온도변화를 줄이고 있으나 반복적인 작업과 스핀들의 고속회전으로 인해서 복합 적인 온도변화를 발생시킨다. 또, 볼스크류의 지지방식이 양쪽 고정단 형태이기 때문에 조립시 예압(pre-load)을 주어서 열팽창을 보상하고 있으나 공작기계의 반복적인 이송으로 인해서 발생하는 온도변화에 의한 열오차를 보상하는데는 어려움이 있다.됩니다. 생리적 저항력이 없는 어린이들은 이러한 공해와 생활조건의 제일희생자가 되는 것입니다. 엄마들이 "얘는 감기, 비염, 편도선을 달고 삽니다...." "얘는 코감기, 목감기 번갈아 가면서 하도 앓고 있어서 양약율 중지하고 현재 한약을 먹고 있습니다." 이러한 역경은 극복할 수 있는가\ulcorner 질병의 메카니즘은 어떻게 작용되는가\ulcorner 등등을 육미회 센타에서 체험한 사례를 가지고 말씀드리고자 합니다..ell layer (PCL)와 glia에 SOD-1이 강하게 염색되었다. A study on automation of modal analysis of a spindle system of machine tools using ANSYS (ANSYS를 활용한 공작기계 주축 시스템의 진동 모드 해석 자동화에 관한 연구)

  • An analytical model was developed in this study and then implemented into a tool for automation of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) of a spindle system for natural frequencies and modes in the universal FEA software, ANSYS. VBA of EXCEL was used for the implementation. It allowed graphic user interfaces (GUIs) to be developed for a user to interact with the tool and, in addition, an EXCEL spreadsheet to be used for data arrangement. A code was developed in the language of ANSYS to generate the geometric model of the spindle system, sequentially to construct the analytical model based on the information in the GUIs, and finally to perform computation for the FEA. Its automation of the model generation and analysis can help to identify a near optimal design of the spindle system under design in minimum time and efforts.

  • High cutting speeds and feeds are essential requirements of a machine tool structure to accomplish its basic function which is to produce a workpiece of the required geometric form with an acceptable surface finish at as high a rate of production as is economically possible. Since the bearings in high speed spindle units are the main heat source of the total cutting system, in this work, the thermal characteristics of the spindle bearing system with a tilting axis were investigated using finite element methods to improve the performance of the spindle bearing system. Based on the theoretical results, a specially designed prototype spindle bearing system has been manufactured. Using the manufactured spindle bearing system, the thermal characteristics were measured. From the comparison of the experimental results with the theoretical ones, it was found that the finite element method predicted well the thermal characteristics of the spindle bearing system.

Effects of a drawbar and a rotor in dynamic characteristics of a high-speed spindle (드로우바와 로터가 고속주축계의 동적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. For more quantitative analysis of a built-in motor's dynamic characteristics, that of tile mass and stillness effects are considered. And the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition according to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft. Therefore, in this paper following items are performed and analyzed : 1. Modal characteristics of the spindle. 2. Analysis of rotor's mass and stiffness effects. 3. Modal characteristics of the spindle including drawbar, rotor and tool. The results show enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of the spindle, and considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

  • Since the spindle bearing systme is the main source of the total cutting point compliance of machine tool structures, in this work, the static and dynamic characteristics of the spndle bearing systme driven by the gear located on the bearing span were investigated using analytical and finite elemtn methods to improve the performance of the spindle bearing system. Based on the theretical results, a specially designed prototype spindle bvearing systme was manufactured. Using the manufactured spindle bearing system, the static and dynamic characteristics were measured. From the comparison of the experimental results with the theoretical results, it was found that the finite elemetn method predicted well the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle bearing system.
