Development Trends of Life Support System for the Manned Space Exploration (유인 우주탐사용 생명유지시스템 개발 동향)

  • Environmental Control & Life Support System (ECLSS) technology is essential for humans to live safely in space other than on Earth and celestial bodies (ex, Moon, Mars etc.) in our solar system. Life support systems generally consist of Air Management System (AMS), Water Recovery System (WRS), and Waste Management System (WMS), and it can enable humans to breathe and live in enclosed dwellings in outer space. First, this paper described the development trends of life support systems that have been developed under the leadership of NASA. In addition, we introduced the current development status of life support system in operation on the International Space Station (ISS) and prospected the development trends in Korea.

  • Due to the recent surge in single-person households, solitary death is drawing attention as an important social problem. We herein develop an adaptive monitoring system using RFID to protect the socially disadvantaged who are exposed to the risk of solitary death. The developed system consists of a wearable RFID tag, an RFID reader attached to the residence, and a user monitoring App. The developed system measures the retention time of a user with a wearable tag in a place where a reader is attached. When the retention time exceeds an adaptively determined threshold, an emergency notification is sent to the caregiver. We verify the effectiveness of the designed system by implementing a prototype modeling a residence based on Arduino.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the residential satisfaction and the residential satisfaction in the residential environment. For this study, we analyzed the main factors of occupancy satisfaction by integrating previous studies on brand and housing and purchase intention, developing a research model based on the theoretical study on occupancy satisfaction, and establishing a research hypothesis. The results of this study are as follows: First, the relationship between first brand image and occupancy satisfaction is statistically significant. Second, the relationship between residential satisfaction and residential satisfaction is significant. In addition, the relationship with prices acting as parameters is analyzed to be somewhat significant. Therefore, this study is expected to provide not only useful information in the relationship between apartment supplier and consumer, but also provide basic information on similar research. However, due to limitations such as selection of control variables and analytical errors, future research should be conducted through development of more comprehensive and valid indicators.

  • The main point of this paper is to examine the composition of interior space of the residence centered on carved ceramic candlestick with the motive of Yeonga. And with the Yeonga candlestick developed using that, the application of space convergence in the interior design is researched. As the industry develops, pleasant and comfortable living environment draws attention in choosing residence with the psychology to engage nature into the house working. It is anticipated that the Yeonga candlestick interior accessories will be used to smoothly connect floor, wall and ceiling. As the shape of Yeonga includes the aura of the luminaire, the design element of Yeonga is researched through it. These sources are applied to the carved candlestick to investigate their application as indoor lighting. It is also a major viewpoint to develop this as a ceramic product and actively utilize it as a necessary interior item in daily life.

  • China's urban regeneration, which has been focused on economic growth since the 1950's, has brought about the uniformity of cities. In order to improve on this, the urban regeneration policy has been transformed into a cultural city resource, which is promoting urban regeneration while utilizing the cultural characteristics of each region. However, the specific application methods are still lacking. In this study, I attempt to modify the apartment environment of the city, Hanan-sung, based on the pattern-language of Christopher Alexander, a space planning tool that can be used in urban regeneration. First, 23 patterns were chosen from the primary pattern-language. Next, I investigated the characteristics of the traditional housing culture of Hanan-sung through the literature review, surveyed the opinions of current apartment residents, and summarized the requirements. Finally, a new pattern-language was developed for the regeneration of the old apartments from the viewpoint of the culture, by modifying it according to the characteristics and requirements of housing culture of Hanan-sung which summarizes 23 pattern-languages.

  • The frequent regional torrential or heavy rain and typhoon mostly caused by climate change has resulted in sediment disasters particularly in mountainous or hilly areas. More than 65% of South Korea is mountainous and development and rapid urbanization has brought lots of steep sloping industrial complexes, which are adjacent to cities. Such continuous urbanization and industrialization can result in an increase in serious damage to those places. Korea has very high population density so sediment disaster could result in a tremendous loss of property and life. A recent 10-year (2001~2010) study of the average annual loss shows 68 casualties and property loss of 1.7044 trillion Won(?), which indicates a 20% and 25% decrease for both life and property, respectively, but urban areas are experiencing increasing damage. In this paper, a comprehensive simulator composed by references, analyses, and the recent technologies was applied to visualize the scale of the damaged Woomyeon-san (Mt.) and verify the performance of the simulator.

Feminizing of Real Estate Speculation -A Study on the Bokbuin in the Korean Narratives in 1970s~1980s (주거의 투기화, 투기의 여성화 -1970~1980년대 한국 서사에 나타난 복부인의 형상화 양상 연구)

  • In the 1970s, the full-scale development of the area now known as Gangnam began, ushering in the era of real estate investment on apartments which transformed housing styles in Korea. Apartments were pitched as the most ideal type of housing, creating a competitive market of high demand and skyrocketing prices. The apartments were also viewed as a means of quick asset investment among middle-class Koreans. Within this apartment frenzy stood the female real estate speculator, the bokbuin. This study seeks to locate the bokbuin in the real estate development market after the late 1970s. The apartment speculation boom cannot be attributed to the bokbuin alone, yet she became the target of public anger and criticism, singled-out as being responsible for fueling illegal and unethical investments. The apartment boom of the 1970s was in fact generated in large part by the government, developers, construction companies and realtors. While their pursuit of profit was deemed as legitimate, the bokbuin's conduct was mostly tainted by presumed illegitimate and greedy motivations. This study problematizes this gendering of real estate investment and treat the bokbuin as a byproduct of the family-centered culture in East Asia. Analyzing Im Kwon Taek's film "Mrs. Speculator", Park Ki Won's conte, "Bokbuin", Park Wan Seo's short story, "Children of Paradise", "The People of Seoul", this study shows that bokbuin's pursuit was not hers alone; it was the collective pursuit with her husband for the enhancement of family finances. This stud y argue that the bokbuin embodied the thickly misogynistic climate of the 1970s that projected the chaotic rise of greed onto the woman.

  • 도시화에 따른 인간의 개발 활동에 의하여 자연적인 토지피복 뿐만 아니라 식생 및 토지이용 형태의 변화를 일으키게 되었다. 개발 목적으로 과거 농경지나 산림지역이 주거지 및 상업지역으로 그 미용이 변화되면서 토양침식의 증가는 물론이고, 불투수층의 증가로 인한 토양저류능의 감소와 강우로 인한 유출 도달시간의 감소의 인해 폭우에 의한 홍수 및 침수의 피해가 야기된다. 이에 따라 다양한 관측결과를 기초로 도시지역의 물순환계를 구성하는 인자간의 관계를 정량적으로 명시하고, 유역 물순환계의 특징을 이해함과 동시에 물순환계의 일부 변화가 다른 부분에 미치는 영향, 특히 토지이용변화가 물순환 구조 변동에 미치는 영향을 평가하여 유역 전체의 건전한 물순환 체계를 위한 대책을 검토하는 과정에 있어서 의견을 모으는 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 1970년대부터 현재까지의 RS(Remote Sensing) 토지피복자료를 이용하여 청계천 유역의 시대별 토지이용변화 변화에 따른 수문환경의 변화가 물순환에 가져오는 영향을 예측하고 이를 토대로 수자원의 유효 이용, 평상시 유량의 확보, 홍수제어, 수자원의 보전과 개발 등과 같은 유역전체에 관계된 문제점을 파악하여 유역에 적합한 물순환계 개선을 위한 다양한 정보를 제공하고자 한다.

  • 1970년대 이후 도시 중심의 급속한 공업화 정책을 추진한 결과, 농촌의 저발전 문제에 직면하고 있다. 1980년대 중반부터 이에 대한 대응전략으로서 농공단지 개발을 통한 산업유치, 농산물 가공산업 개발 및 유통체계 개선, 관광농업 개발 등이 논의되어 왔다. 오늘날에 와서는 WTO 체제 하에서 농산물 무역자유화가 보편적인 규범으로 자리잡아 가면서 이러한 변화를 더욱 재촉하고 있다. 이 글의 목적은 농공단지와 관광농원을 중심으로 우리 나라 농산업 발전과정을 고찰하고, 향후 발전 방향을 제시하는 데 있다. 농공단지와 관광농원 육성사업의 특성과 성패요인을 분석하는 데 있어서 이용된 자료는 주로 2차자료이다. 농공단지조성사업의 성과에 대한 많은 논란에도 불구하고, 개량적인 지표는 그것이 농촌지역경제 활성화에 직간접적으로 공헌하였음을 보여준다. 농촌노동력의 66.1%를 고용하고, 이들에게 1인당 월 평균 70만원 이상의 소득을 제공해 주었으며, 서비스업 등 관련산업의 성장에도 영향을 미쳤기 때문이다. 그러나 농공단지조성사업은 많은 문제점도 안고 있다. 농촌지역에 숙련 노동자가 부족하며 직업훈련 기회 및 창업지원 프로그램이 도시지역에 집중되어 있다. 또한 입주 기업이 농산물이나 골재 등 현지 자원을 활용하는 경우가 매우 적은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이에 대한 대응책으로서 농촌 주민들이 손쉽게 참여할 수 있는 직업훈련 프로그램을 개발하여 제공해야 하며, 경영과 시장정보 분석 등을 기술적으로 지원할 수 있는 효과적인 지도체계를 구축해야 한다. 관광농업은 새롭게 떠오르는 산업이다. 아직 기반이 취약하지만 국가 경제성장과 도시화 진행 추이에 비추어 볼 때 관광농원은 점차 증가할 것으로 전망된다. 하지만 이 산업의 지속적인 발전을 위해서는 정책의 유연성을 확보해야 하고, 농원운영자의 경영능력이 향상되어야 하며, 수요의 계절성을 극복해야 하는 등의 과제를 안고 있다. 또한 공동운영 형태의 농원에 있어서는 참여자들을 효과적으로 조직하고, 토지소유권 분쟁을 해소해야 하는 문제가 있다. 무엇보다도 아직 이 산업의 기반이 취약하다는 전제 위에 점진적이고 지속적인 재정과 기술지원이 요청되고 있다. 다양한 운영 프로그램의 개발과 지역내 네트웍 형태의 연계개발 방식의 채택이 필요하며, 관광농원이나 농어촌휴양지 개발지역에서는 산업개발 및 주거지 개발계획이 관광여건 조성과 총체적으로 연계되어야 할 것이다.

  • Today, residential facilities is planned and built based on modular architecture. In the modular housing, sizes and locations of spaces like rooms, kinchin, and bathrooms can be changed from-time-to-time. Therefore, current home automation systems based on predesigned and fixed system with wired sensors can not be suitable for the modular housing. As a result, a new concept-based homw automation system is required which is able to adopt varying home environment. Since the change of spaces will change the number of and types of necessary sensors, the home automation system enables to detect automatically and naturally the added or removed different types of wireless sensors and provides home automation services. In this paper, a home automation system is studied and implemented which can adopt varying space environment by detecting automatically added or removed sensors and provide new user interfaces for displaying sensing information.
