종이접기를 활용한 방정식 풀이의 역사 (History of solving polynomial equation by paper folding)

  • Paper folding is a versatile tool that can be used not only as a mathematical model for analyzing the geometric properties of plane and spatial figures but also as a visual method for finding the real roots of polynomial equations. The historical evolution of origami's geometric and algebraic techniques has led to the discovery of definitions and properties that can enhance one's cognitive understanding of mathematical concepts and generate mathematical interest and motivation on an emotional level. This paper aims to examine the history of origami geometry, the utilization of origami for solving polynomial equations, and the process of determining the real roots of quadratic, cubic, and quartic equations through origami techniques.

종이접기 방식을 사용한 방사패턴 가변형 종이 안테나 설계 (Design of a reconfigurable paper antenna using the origami method)

  • 본 논문에서는 종이에 전도성 테이프를 이용하여 만든 웨어러블 안테나를 소개한다. 제안하는 안테나는 A4 복사 용지에 반파장 도체 다이폴 스트립과 기생 도체 스트립으로 구성이 되며, SMA 커넥터를 통해 다이폴의 중앙에 급전되는 구조이다. 제안하는 안테나의 모양은 종이 접기에 따라 모양이 달라지며, 따라서 종이를 접었을 때와 펼쳤을 때 안테나의 방사패턴이 가변된다. 이것은 안테나 방사패턴의 영점(null)에 의해 신호의 수신율이 낮아지는 문제점을 해결할 수 있다. 제안하는 안테나의 반사계수와 방사패턴을 900 MHz에서 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 제시하였고, 제안하는 종이 안테나가 900 MHz에서 종이접기 방식에 따라 재구성(reconfigurable) 특성이 있음을 보였다.

  • A thermally responsive hydrogel has reversibility with temperature during swelling. Here, we proposed origami inspired temperature sensor by using multi-layered hydrogel film. The formation of patterned stripes on microscale film drives bending to an angle that can be controlled linearly. Although temperature range was not wide, measured sensitivity of sensors has high resolution and accuracy. It providing a powerful platform for the design of sensitive sensors and that easily adapt other type of sensors in microscale.

유아의 종이접기 활동이 기하 도형의 이해에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Paper Folding Activities on the Understanding of Geometric Figures by Kindergarten Children)

  • In this intervention study, an experimental group of kindergarten children participated in paper folding activities 2 times per week for 10 weeks while the control group did ordinary art activities. Subjects were 43 five-year-old children enrolled in N and D public kindergartens in Hwa-soon Chonnam province. Data were analyzed with a two-sample t-test. The ability to draw and to manipulate geometric figures increased significantly in the experimental group but there was no difference between the two groups in the discrimination of geometric figures.

종이접기의 대수학적 의미와 교수학적 활용

  • 수학사를 통해 볼 때 눈금 없는 자와 컴퍼스를 이용한 작도 가능성의 문제는 여러 면에서 의미가 있었다. 종이 접기는 수학과는 무관하게 나름대로 많은 흥미를 끌어 왔다. 그러나 종이 접기가 기하학적 작도와 흥미 있는 관련이 있음이 알려지면서 수학적으로도 연구되었고 더 나아가 수학 학습에의 유의미한 활용 가능성이 제안되었다. 본 글에서는 종이 접기에서 괄목할 만한 수학적 성질을 고전적인 작도 가능성의 문제와 다항식의 거듭 제곱근에 의한 가해성 등과 관련하여 고찰한다. 또, 초 ${\cdot}$ 중등 학교에서 활용 가능한 가상의 수업 프로토콜도 제시한다.

다이폴 상태와 루프 상태로 변환 가능한 종이접기 방식의 종이 안테나 (Dipole- and Loop-Mode Transformable Origami Paper Antenna)

  • 본 논문에서는 잉크젯 프린팅 기술을 이용하여 종이 필름 위에 전도성 잉크를 인쇄하여 방사 패턴 변환이 가능한 종이접기 형태의 안테나를 제안한다. 제안된 안테나는 접었을 때와 펼쳤을 때 각각 다이폴 안테나와 루프 안테나로 동작하며, 종이 필름을 접고 펼치는 방식에 따라 상호 변환될 수 있다. 제안된 안테나는 다이폴 상태와 루프 상태일 때 모두 동일하게 1.85 GHz에서 동작하도록 설계되었다. 종이 필름을 접었을 때 종이 필름의 코팅과 그 위에 인쇄된 전도성 잉크가 깨짐 현상을 해결하기 위해 액체금속(liquid metal)중 하나인 EGaIn(Eutectic Gallium Indium)을 사용하였다. 제안된 안테나의 성능은 시뮬레이션과 실제 측정 결과로 확인할 수 있으며, 다이폴 상태와 루프 상태일 때 안테나 이득은 각각 -4 dBi, -5 dBi이다. 또한, 측정 결과, 다이폴 상태와 루프 상태일 때 서로의 Null 부분을 서로 상호 보완해 주는 것을 확인할 수 있다.

한국 고대 고깔과 종이접기 (A study on Korean ancient conical hat(Kotgal) and the paper-folding)

  • This study focuses on the correlation between Kotgal and paper-folding. This paper first examines the meaning and history of Korean ancient Kotgal and then investigates relationship between Kotgal and Korean paper-folding culture which has been inherited in various ways. Throughout the study, literature research and analysis have been conducted along with empirical studies. The results of the study are as follows. First, it has been told that Kotgal was used a as a trident hat symbolizing the sky, land, and man, whereas Korean paper-folding is known as closely related to the folk beliefs which had existed since ancient times. From ancient times, the Korean ancestors expressed the Three Gods representing beauties of the nature, 'sky(Chun), land(Ji) and man(In)' on the conical hat and prayed for their wish to the heaven. Second, Kotgal has been evolved in various ways from ancient times through Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty to present. The form of Kotgal has begun with folding and this is closely related to the origin of Korean paper-folding, which is the Korean traditional craft. Third, the paper-folding tradition of Korea has been variously applied in the Korean culture such as rituals, life crafts and plays and expresses the unconventional philosophical concepts unique of Korea. In conclusion, this study evidently shows that the Korean philosophical ideas behind Kotgal which originated from ancient paper-folding are scientific and systematic.

십이지(十二支) 동물의 종이접기 기법을 응용한 가방 디자인 (Fashion accessory bag design apply to paper-folding technique of twelve zodiac)

  • The purpose of this study is to attempt to diversify artistic expression through combinations of the twelve zodiac animals and origami techniques and to propose new directions for fashion design by applying these to fashion accessory bag designs. For the research method, this study researched the representative forms and characteristics of twelve zodiac animals based on the cultural background. Also, diverse cases of origami techniques were sought to apply them to the development of bags. The results are as follows. First, expressed forms of the Chinese zodiac were newly expanded by realizing the form of Chinese zodiac animals through various origami techniques. Origami work displays abstract visual effects rather than intuitive feelings or expressions of flat designs. With this, detailed realizations could be made through the characteristics and cultural implications of animals. Second, the work created in this study utilized zero-waste patterns that use origami techniques on one whole piece. During pattern production, folded parts were marked without waste and the outer fabric and lining were produced. Patterns were all symmetrical lines so most forms were expressed with squares and equilateral triangles. Third, through actual work produced using fabric instead of paper, effects that are brought about through folding are determined in diverse ways according to fabric textures or material types and thicknesses. When paper is folded, shapes are created as folded, but fabric requires the use of supportive material to create the effects of origami. Polyester and blended fabric were easy to use with high levels of function and practicality. Through such diverse production attempts, fixing methods, hand sewing, sewing machines, double-sided tape, and leather adhesive were used.

각의 이등분선 및 삼등분선의 방정식 탐구 (A Study on Equations of Bisector and Trisectors of Angle)

  • 본 연구는 수학적 대상인 각을 대수적인 방법인 벡터를 이용하여 탐구하는 문헌연구로, 각의 이등분선의 작도 방법, 각의 삼등분선의 종이접기 방법을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 중등학교에서 다루는 벡터의 기본 개념들을 이용하여 각의 이등분선 및 삼등분선을 방정식의 형태로 표현하였다. 본 연구로 얻어진 결과는 중등학교 수학에 관련된 교과내용지식의 영역을 넓힐 수 있으며, 벡터를 활용한 문제해결에 관련된 흥미로운 심화학습 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

우리나라 종이접기 공예품에 대한 역사적 고찰 (Historical Review on the Korean Paper Folding Crafts)

  • The history of paper folding had continued before that the paper manufacturing technique was spread in the 3rd century and it was used for witchcrafts and rituals. Fold means as was used with the word Cheop and Jeopji. In the Three Kingdoms period, the conical hat with fabric spread as customs, then it was made of the paper that led the popularization of paper folding form the early Joseon Dynasty. Paper crafts and living things with paper are mostly derived from fabrics except the paper written for saint's name related God. In the period of the tribe nation, witchcrafts and rituals brought to Japan via the Korean Peninsula, as a result Kami which means God in Japanese that becomes the paper. The first folding fan was made to develop from the fan, Baekseopsun in the end of Goryeo Dynasty. It was an outstanding application of paper folding crafts. Since the early Joseon Dynasty, paper flower folding has considered as the virtue of savings and has developed one of the Korean traditional paper arts. Paper folding has also developed in the practical uses like the other Korean paper arts but paper folding that was developed as seasonal customs, playing or religious purpose showed a different trend from Korean paper arts.
