Adsorption Characteristics for Nitrosamines in Granular Activated Carbon Process (입상활성탄 공정에서의 nitrosamine류 흡착 특성)

  • This study accessed the adsorption characteristics of the nine nitrosamine species on coal-based granular activated carbon (GAC). The breakthrough appeared first for NDMA and sequentially for NMOR, NPYR, NMEA, NDPA, NDEA, and NPIP. On the other hand, NDBA and NDPHA were not detected in the treated effluent for the operation period. The maximum adsorption capacity (X/M) for the seven nitrosamine species with apparent breakthrough points ranged from $27.5{\mu}g/g$ (for NDMA) to $671.0{\mu}g/g$ (for NPIP). Carbon usage rate (CUR) for NDMA was 1.07 g/day, 13.4 times higher than that for NPIP (0.08 g/day). The X/M values for the seven nitrosamine species were fitted well with a linear regression ($r^2$ = 0.94) by their octanol-water partitioning coefficient ($K_{ow}$).

Changes in Mining Properties During Maturation of Wheat Kernel (소맥의 등숙에 따른 제분특성의 변화)

  • Development and maturation of wheat were studied with reference to the quality of grain and milling properties. 1000-kernel weight and test weight increased as the wheat matured and as the orginal moisture decreased. The time of maturity was estimated 40 days after heading. Moisture content of wheat grain had a correlation coefficient of -0.877** with 1000-kernel weight, of -0.761** with test weight, and of 0.915** with pearling index. The milling data suggest that even in the early stages of maturing, the endosperm represented at large proportion of the grain. However, milling score was relatively constant at about 40 days. Break-Reduction flour ratio was a great difference between wheat varieties. 1000-kernel weight had a high significant correlation of +0.603** with milling yield, of -0.958** with ash content, and of +0.956** with milling score.

Studies on the Yield Potential Increment by Grain Weight in Rice I. Yield capacity and major agronomic characteristics of rice varieties with large grain (벼의 입중증대에 의한 수량성향상에 관한 연구 -제 1 보 대립 벼품종의 주요특성과 수량성-)

  • This study was conducted to get basic information about yield capacity and major agronomic characteristics of rice varieties with large grain. The results obtained are as follows; Between grain weight and grain components such as length, width and thickness showed highly positive correlation. The relationship between grain length and grain shape (Length/Width) was clear (r=0.5707${\ast}\;{\ast}$). 1, 000 grain weight of 14 rice varieties with large grain was negatively correlated with number of spikelets per panicle, number of panicles per hill, ripening ratio, total dry matter, grain yield and harvest index, but less clear. The relationship between grain weight of 14 rice varieties with large grain and growth duration was less clear (r=0.440). 1, 000 grain weight of 20 rice varieties differing in grain size showed a highly positive correlation with chalkiness of rice kernel (r=0.8477${\ast}\;{\ast}$).

Conjugated Linoleic Acid Contents in Commercial Dairy Products (시판 낙농제품 중 Conjugated Linoleic Acid의 함량)

  • The contents of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) of 36 commercial dairy products (15 fluid milks, 16 yogurts, 5 cheeses) were determined. The CLA contents of fluid milk and cheeses were in the range of 2.24 to 4.10 mg/g and 3.69 to 5.78 mg/g of lipid, respectively. However, the yogurt products showed a large variation ($0.13{\sim}4.54\;mg/g$ of lipid) of CLA content because the yogurts prepared from skim milk contained lower CLA than those prepared from whole milk. Multiple linear regression test showed good correlations between CLA contents and the contents of selected fatty acids (oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids) of fluid milk and yogurt products.

THE RELATIONSHIP OF RADIOGRAPHIC LESION SIZE AND CHARACTERISTICS TO DIAGNOSIS OF PERIAPICAL CYSTS AND GRANULOMAS (방사선학적 치근단병소의 크기와 특징에 대한 치근단낭종 및 육아종의 상관관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship of radiographic lesion size, gender, age of patients and radiographic character to the diagnosis of periapical cyst and granuloma. The data was collected from 187 periapical lesions of 167 patients who undergone apical surgery at Department of Conservative Dentistry, Seoul National University Dental Hospital from 2003 to 2005. The lesion were surgically removed and send for biopsy to the Oral Pathology Laboratory. From the initial radiograph, lesion size was calculated using $PiViewSTAR^{(R)}$ (INFINITT, Korea) program. The obtained data were statistically evaluated using SPSS (p<0.05). The result were as followings: 1. From 187 biopsy samples, the incidence of periapical cyst was 28.34% and granuloma was 65.24%. 2. There was a significant correlation between periapical cyst and the size of radiographic lesion (p<0.01). 3. There were no significant correlations between age, gender, location of lesion and the final diagnosis (p>0.05). 4. There was a significant correlation between the non-demarcation of the lesion and the incidence of periapical granuloma (p<0.01).

Chemical Components Related with Seed Dormancy and Viviparous Germination in Rice (벼 종실의 휴면 관련 성분과 휴면성 및 수발아성과의 관계)

  • This excperiment was conducted to investigate relation on seed dormancy and vi-viparous germination with sucrose content, fatty acid composition and abscisic acid content of rice seeds. The following results were obtained by this experiment. Sucrose content of brown rice harvested at 20 and 40 days after heading was higher in Japonica and Sare type varieties than in Tongil and Indica type rices. Positive relationship was found be-tween sucrose content of brown rice and viviparous germination rate of rice varieties tested.J aponica and Sare type rice varieties showed low proportion of oleic acid and higher proportion of linoleic acid in brown rice harvested at 20 and 40 days after heading than Tongil and Indica rices tested. Viviparous germination was negatively correlated with the proportion oleic acid and positively with that of linoleic acid. Abscisic acid content in hull of rice seeds stored for 30 days at 25/15$^{\circ}C$ fluctuation temperature condition was decreased more rapidly than 4$^{\circ}C$, and Japonica varieties tested showed lower con-tent of abscisic acid in rice hull than Tongil and Indica varieties used.

Prediction of spring precipitation in the Geum River basin using global climate indices and artificial neural network model (글로벌 기후지수와 인공신경망모형을 이용한 금강권역의 봄철 강수량 예측)

  • 본 연구에서는 인공신경망을 이용한 통계적 모형을 구성하여 금강권역의 봄철(3~5월) 강수량 예측을 수행하였다. 통계적 모형의 예측인자로서는 NOAA 등에서 제공하는 AAO, AMM, AO 등 36종의 기후지수와 대상권역인 금강권역의 강수량, 기온 등의 기상인자 8종 등 총 44종의 기후지수를 활용하였다. 예측대상기간을 기준으로 선행기간(1~18개월)에 따른 상관성을 분석하여 상관도가 높은 10개의 기후지수를 예측인자로 선정하였다. 예측모형 형태는 10개의 입력층과 1개의 은닉층으로 되어 있는 인공신경망모형을 구성하였다. 모형 구성과정에서의 불확실성을 최소화하고 예측모형의 적합도를 높이기 위해 예측대상기간을 기준으로 과거 40년간의 자료에 대해 임의로 20년간 자료를 선별하여 모형을 구성하고, 너머지 기간에 대해 검증하는 무작위 교차검증을 반복하여, 예측대상기간 및 예측시점에 따라 각각 적합도가 높은 1000개의 예측모형을 선별하였다. 과거기간(1991~2022년)을 대상으로 예측시점에 따라 각 연도별 1000개의 예측결과를 도출하여, 실제 해당년도의 관측값과의 비교를 통해 예측성을 분석하였다. 예측성은 크게 예측치의 최대값과 최소값 범위 및 예측치의 25%~75% 범위 안에 관측치가 포함될 확률, 그리고 과거 관측값의 3분위 구간을 기준으로 한 예측확률 등을 평가하였다. 관측치가 예측치의 범위 안에 포함될 확률은 평균 87.5%, 예측치의 25~75% 범위 안에 포함될 확률은 30.2%로 나타났으며, 3분위 예측확률은 35.6%로 분석되었다. 관측값과의 일대일 비교는 정확도가 떨어지지만 3분위 예측확률이 33.3% 이상인 점으로 볼 때 예측성은 확보된다고 볼 수 있다. 다만, 우리나라 강수량의 불규칙성과 통계적 모형 특성상 과거 관측되지 않은 패턴에 대해서는 예측이 어려운 문제가 있어, 특정년도의 예측결과가 관측치를 크게 벗어나는 경우도 종종 나타나고 있다.

Physicochemical Characteristics and Antioxidant Activities of Bioresource Juices from Jeju (제주 생물자원 착즙액의 이화학적 특성 및 항산화 활성)

  • We aimed to provide the basic data for the development of a beverage using the juices from bioresources from Jeju. Our results show that pH and $^{\circ}Bx$ of the bioresources ranged 2.0-6.5 and 3.3-16.8, respectively. Rubus coreanus Miquel juice had the highest total phenol content (47.3 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/100 mL). Citrus sphaerocarpa juice showed higher rates of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging (86.8%) than those of other juices. However, the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) value ($2,409.5{\mu}M$ TE/mL) of Citrus sudachi Hort. ex Shirai juice was higher than those of other juices. A high correlation (R=0.7343) was observed between the pH and ORAC values for the 20 bioresources. Furthermore, a high correlation (R=0.8752) was found between the phenolic contents and DPPH radical scavenging for the 5 citrus fruits. These results suggest that the bioresources in Jeju could be used as natural antioxidants for the development of functional foods, including healthy beverages.

  • 전통된장 제조방법으로서 원료 혼합비, 메주의 건조시간 및 온도, 메주와 된장의 발효 시간 및 온도, 된장 간장의 분리 여부, 된장 숙성(aging) 시간을 조사하였다. 혈액응고 저해 활성(anticoagulant activity)을 fibrin clotting assay법으로 분석하여 혈액응고 저해활성과 제법간의 상관 관계를 검토하였다. 숙성 기간이 길수록 혈액응고 저해활성이 높게 나타나는 경향을 보였으나 선형적인 상관관계보다는 비선형적으로 양의 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 판단되었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 혈액응고 저해활성이 높은 2종의 된장시료를 선발하였으며 숙성기간이 180일 이상일 경우 전통된장의 혈액응고 저해활성이 높은 것으로 판단되었다.

Plant Community Structure by Aspect and Altitude at Eastern District in Chirisan National Park (지리산국립공원 동부지역 해발고와 사면에 따른 식물군집구조)

  • 지리산국립공원 동부지역의 해발고와 사면에 따른 식물군집구조를 파악하기 위하여 1999년 7월에 49개의 조사구(20m$\times$15m)를 설치하여 조사하였다 해발고가 올라감에 따라 북사면에 위치한 조사구에서는 구상나무와 신갈나무의 평균상대우점치가 증가하였고 천왕봉 해발 1,700m이상 지역에서는 가문비나무가 우점종이었으며 해발고가 올라갈수록 상대우점치는 증가하였다 반면 남사면에 위치한 조사구에서는 해발고가 올라감에 따라 신갈나무의 평균상대우점치는 감소하였고 구상나무의 평균상대우점치는 증가하였다 해발고에 따른 북사면과 남사면의 종수와 개체수는 북사면에서보다 남사면에서 많았고 입지환경과 종간상관관계에서는 가문비나무 신갈나무, 잣나무가 해발고와 정의 상관관계를 나타냈으며 서어나무는 부의 상관관계를 나타내었다 동일 해발고에서도 사면상 위치에 따라 식물군집구조 및 종구성의 차이를 나타내었다.
