The major findings of this study indicate that the elderly in the voluntary work group have a high collectivism value, higher income earned by performing economic activities, and good cognitive health affected by a high satisfaction with life. From these research results, it was proved that a collectivism value is a common factor that affects satisfaction with life in both of the economic activity group. A prior medical history was associated with a significantly low SWS score. Satisfaction with life was associated with a significantly high SWS score. These factors a showed significant discriminative EWS score rather than a RWS. Among the religion factors, the satisfaction with their religion showed significant difference in the SWS. The SWS score especially the EWS affected the anxiety and depression of the Korean Combined Anxiety and Depression Scale (CADS). • The duration of volunteering can be analyzed in terms of commitment and attachment. Previous studies have investigated the duration of volunteering predominantly from the perspective of commitment. Alternatively, this study focuses on the concept of attachment and investigates the characteristics of those who volunteer habitually over their whole life, regardless of the regularity and the intensity of the volunteer work. In so doing, the study attempts to identify factors associated with the attachment to volunteering. Data came from a sample of 8,415 participants, ages over twenty who responded to all the surveys of the Korea Welfare Panel Study, from Wave 1 to 10. Zero-inflated negative bionomial regression model was employed to analyze the total number of volunteering in the past ten years. Findings show that people with high attachment to volunteering were those with religion, less education, and a strong sense of reciprocity. Based on the findings, we provide the practical implications for the improved operation and management of volunteer organizations.

  • Korea has established diplomatic relations with 190 countries in the world. It opened its diplomatic offices in 113 countries. Korea raised its status in international society through multinational force peace activities, national defense cooperation activity and UN peace maintenance activity for the maintenance of world peace. But there have been vio lent crimes by terrorist organizations and armed groups that try to achieve their political, religious and ideological go als greatly damaging Koreans working in overseas countries. This research studied the tendency of international terr orism against Koreans. The suggestion and conclusion are as follows. First, the study shows that armed groups and extremists have threatened and attacked Koreans in overseas countries. But there aren't enough personnel who can i mmediately and correctly analyze and respond the threats and attacks. So it is urgent to raise experts continually an d develop manuals to respond the attacks. Next, the damaging targets in overseas countries have been changed from hard targets to soft targets. There could be a limit in the restriction of basic rights of people by governmental agenc ies. So it is necessary for people to show mature civic awareness not going to a tourism-prohibited area.
