  • 'Fashion' is one of the most important aspects in game character design. However, despite its influence, analytical approaches in integrating fashion design methods in character designs are rare practices within the industry. The following paper aims point out the practicality of integrating and utilizing theoretical and formative methods in fashion design in creating character concept designs and show how the following application can create visual stimuli for artists in future concepts.

  • A Convergence Research Study of Southern Fujian Region in China during the Song Dynasty analyzing the Export of Ceramics During the Song Dynasty in China ceramics made in the Southern Fujian (also known as Minnan) region were exported to different countries in Southeast Asia including the Philippines, Thailand and more. They were even exported to Korea, Japan and through trade they traveled as far as Africa. Ceramics was one of the three main sea route export item of China at the time and there were active commercial trading between Korea as well as other countries, enabling ceramics to develop rapidly. The harmonious reciprocal relationship between the geographical, political, cultural, economical characteristics of Southern Fujian enabled a unique type of celadon ware widely recognized to develop. Ceramics of this region is one of a kind in terms of history when we relate it to research on integrating different elements. It suggests a unique convergence of culture when we study its forms and its industrial characteristics. The study attempts to analyze the influence of geography, politics, economy and culture on the different phenomena found in ceramics. Different paradigms associated with changes of environment reflect on continued development in the field of ceramics.

  • In the modern society in which globalization is ongoing in the overall culture social culture, various efforts are being made by each country around the world in order to search for the distinctive cultural identity and creativity. Recognizing the importance of the 'Korean' tradition, South Korea is also actively engaged in researches to develop design utilizing it and to apply it in real life. Here, developing Korean design does not simply refer to borrowing and imitating the traditional form or color but refers to generating a new, original and ethnic aesthetic consciousness that conform to the era that we are currently living in based on the unique ideology and sentiment inherent in its formativeness. Despite the fact that research on Korean traditional culture has continued for a long period of time, it is considered that such phenomenon continues to take place because the establishment and utilization of Korean culture identity is still insufficient. There, research on various fields based on new understanding with regards to our culture and the development of design utilizing it is in dire need. This study aims to analyze the said usage form and formative characteristics and the possibility of modern application focused on the lines and patterns which are most frequently mentioned when discussing about the Korean traditional formative beauty of Korea.

  • Folk paintings influence the lifestyle of the general public, and is visible practical communication presenting emotion, feelings and phenomenon through various functions and aesthetic molding specificity. Illustration as a medium for conveying information in modern society is time communication forming time circumstance based on a creative image, becoming an importance in the means of molding an active information society. Folk paintings and illustration express the subject of various kinds of stories of surroundings of daily lives ironically, humorously and symbolically, convey it in an accurate and detailed way in the various use of color and shape representation, and have a similar specificity as the general public's art influencing the society, culture, and environment, the general public's emotion and feelings of that time. The current research is to suggest the possibility and direction of Korean image representation in illustration by analyzing folk painting and illustration characters based on social, cultural function and role and molding specificity.

Concept and Expression Method of 'Fun' Presented in Fashion Design (패션디자인에서'재미'의 개념과 표현방식)

  • As a fresh trial using humorous items to escape from economic recession and uncertain state of mind regarding politics and society, fun is emerging as a keyword in design area. This study classified various use of fun reflected in modern fashion design according to the theme, and analyzed the mod of expression to identify formative characteristics. Through these processes, this study built conceptual structure of fun in fashion design. 412 fashion designs which represent fun were collected from 2001 $S/S{\sim}2005$ F/W collections. Data were analyzed and categorized. Results showed that the theme of fun in the modern fashion design could be classified into humor, kidult, irony, satire/parody, storytelling, and play. The design elements mainly used were color silhouette, letter, object, and drawing, while the design principles were distortion/exaggeration, incongruity, and repetition. In addition, these expressions were related to the traditional humor theory: incongruity-resolution, superior, and relief theories. The fun in modern fashion design has such value as affirmation, warmness, entertainment, youth, contradiction, surprise, deviate, allusion, attack, and description, Finally, in regard to the subject, the fun provides active experience like play as well as passive acceptance.

  • This paper deals with the basic principles and procedures involved in the steam-chest molding process used for manufacturing expanded polypropylene (EPP) bead foam. Steam-chest molding is an integral process for EPP technology. However, little research has been carried out on the processing conditions for steam-chest molding this process. The characteristics of EPP foam are energy absorption, multiple-impact protection, low weight, structural strength, and durability. In this study, the steam pressure in steam-chest molding was varied to determine the optimum conditions for manufacturing EPP foam. Moreover, annealing was performed after EPP-foam molding to prevent the shrinkage of the steam-molded product. It was possible to verify the mechanism of foam shrinkage by observing the change in weight with time at different annealing temperatures. Moreover, a tensile test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were performed to support these experimental results. The dimensional stability of each molded product was investigated at different steam pressures.

Analysis of the relationship between e-brand personalities and visual attributes (웹페이지 디자인의 이브랜드 개성 구축을 위한 시각조형특성 분석)

  • The brand personality of online products and services is know as its e-brand personality. Although, in the competitive conditions of online markets, e-brand personality is agreed to be an important factor, few studies have suggested how to establish e-brand personality through the visual design of web sites. This study identifies and verifies causal relationships between the visual attributes of web pages and e-brand personalities. The first identifies four major dimensions of e-brand personality on diverse web sites. The second uses 52 experimental home pages to identify key visual attributes associated with those four personality dimensions. The third is a confirmatory study with 16 experimental web sites that verifies causal relationships between visual attributes and e-brand personalities. The results show that two visual attributes, 'simplicity' and 'cohesion,' help to establish a 'bold' personality. Three attributes, 'contrast,' 'density,' and 'regularity,' affect whether a site has an 'analytical' personality. 'Contrast,' 'cohesion,' 'density,' and 'regularity' all influence whether a web site is perceived to have a 'friendly' personality. 'Regularity' and 'balance' were expected to affect the 'sophisticated' personality dimension, but no such impact was observed. The paper concludes with a discussion of implications, limitations, and future research directions.

  • Customers who visit nail shops need creative and unique designs, but at present nail artists remain at the level of design imitation, new nail art designs should be developed to satisfy customers. Therefore, this study presented convergent nail art designs using formative art principles which are the basis of all design with the aim of contributing to creative nail art designs. For this purpose, this study investigated specialized books, Internet data and previous studies on the subject, analysed concepts and cases of formative art principles, and the concept of nail art and related expressive techniques to create six convergent nail art designs. As nail art techniques, this study used hand painting, marbling, see-through, etching, embossing, patching and objet. As a result, this study presented unique and creative nail art designs using formative art principles and found the possibility of creating new nail art designs. This study has meaning in that the results of this study are significant as basic data to enhance the design capabilities of nail artists.

An Analysis on the Relationship between the Art Elements and Preference of Urban Street Furnitures (도시 가로시설물의 조형 요소와 선호도 간의 상관성 분석)

  • This study was carried out for the purpose of analysis correlations between street furniture design elements and preference of street furniture. This research analyzed the various street furniture set on Ilsan new town street, which are rest, hygiene, light, information, sale, traffic, and landscape. This study has processed by analysing street furniture literature investigation and consideration of theory. First, for analysed effect of street furniture element, has been appear as element 'relaxation facilities', 'information facilities', landscape facilities' mainly effect on street. Specially, 'rest', 'landscape', 'information' in order had a major influence on scenery. Each kind of 'chair elements' in rest facilities, 'sign board' in information facilities, 'sculpture', 'fountain' in 'landscape facilities' has analyzed as the main elements in the landscape affinity property affecting factor. Second, the results of analyzed landscape elements (shape, colour, texture, scale) affect to the affinity of street furniture. chair which are included in rest facilities affect "texture", "form", "scale", "color" in the order of preference of the molding design elements that influence landscape. Particularly, showed statistically significant on 'colour' element affecting the landscape preference than the other three elements. It means as the chair element which is rest facilities mainly affect on preferences, rather than texture, form, scale, colour. Monument in the landscape associated with a preference 'colour', 'shape', 'texture' 'scale' and appears to be in order of impact so we could get the consequence like chair and rest facilities show different aspects of the respectively. It means, visual element which are colour and shape significantly impact on landscape preferences. Third, information facilities such as signboard formative elements of landscape design preferences and correlation with negative showed that the correlation. That mean if the sign board is very negative influence on landscape preferences and the correlations of the design formative elements appear in order of 'scale', 'colour', 'texture'. It also means that the 'scale' namely the size of advertising material and colour are adversely affected in terms of landscape. As these results, when design street furniture as the street scenery, facilities according to the kind of the shape element and need to focus on relative shape element according to the kind of facilities difference. Finally, so far as to clarify the street furniture, mainly 'function' and 'system' classification shows undesirable in outdoor scape. Thus, performed studies in relationship with landscape, classify 'kind of facilities' is more desirable than 'system'.

  • 지난 수십 년간 괄목할만한 경제성과 정치 사회적인 변화를 경험하였으며 최근에는 국재화의 흐름 속에서 또 다른 변화의 시대를 맞이하고 있다. 이에 따라 상품의 포장디자인은 <무언의 세일즈맨>이라고 말할 수 있고 브랜드 시각이미지 디자인의 중요한 부분 중 하나다. 분 논문은 흰 우유 포장디자인에 있어서 한국과 중국의 대표적 판매량 TOP 4위인 흰 우유업체의 흰 우유 포장디자인의 차이점을 분석하고 한다. 디자인의 표현 요소와 포장 이미지를 분석하고 포장디자인에 대한 인식을 사례를 비교 분석하여 포장디자인에 있어서 시각 조형적 요소의 측면에서 개선방향을 제시함을 목적으로 한다.
