A Study on the Power Factor Correction and Harmonics Reduction of Capacitor Banks installed at Customers (수용가에 설치된 캐패시터 뱅크의 역률개선 및 고조파 저감에 관한 연구)

  • Most power system loads and delivery apparatus are inductive in nature and therefore operate at a lagging power factor. Applying capacitor banks to a customer will result in a power factor correction and other benefits such as VAR support, increased voltage, reduced power losses, and reduced billing charges. Also there can be power quality problems as a result of adding capacitor banks. The most common are harmonics. This paper provides an in depth analysis on the power factor correction and harmonics reduction of capacitor bank installed at a customer. The EDSA program was used as a simulation tool for the case study.

A Study on the Mechanism with the Electrode Ratio of Driving and Generation Part of a Disk-Type Piezoelectric Transformer (디스크형 압전변압기의 전극 면적비에 따른 구동 메카니즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a disk-type piezoelectric transformer was fabricated. Its diameter was 50[mm] and thickness was 4.5[mm]. The driving and generating electrode with their gap of 1[mm] were fabricated on the top surface. But the common electrode was fabricated on the whole bottom surface. The electrode surface ratio of driving and generating part on the top surface was the range of 1.4:1 to 3:1. We investigated the electrical characteristics with the variation of its thickness and the electrode surface ratio of driving and generating part in the range of load resistance of 100${[\Omega]}\~70{[k\Omega]}$.. Form the experimental results, their influence on the set-up voltage ratio were investigated quantitively and qualitatively.

  • This paper is about the new distribution system of the electric customer inside. The power loss in the distribution system of the customer is disregarded and rarely managed so for. But, economically, this loss is not small quantity to ignore. So, in this paper, we suggest that the new distribution system of the electric customer inside by simply changing the locations of power transformer and other power facilities which is located inside of the customer. And we also show that the power loss is decreased with this systematic changing by approximated calculation.

  • This paper describes the FFT and coefficient analysis of vibration signals for preventive diagnosis of a mold transformer at normal and abnormal state. Varying applied voltage, loading current and temperature as control variables for he experiment, measurement variables such as magnitude of vibration signals, frequency spectrum and time series coefficient were analyzed. The vibration signals by variation of control variables were measured by acceleration sensor adhered on the surface of winding and core, and measurement variables were calculated using dat acquisition system. After analyzing the normal state, the structural distortion was also simulated. The vibration signals at abnormal state were measured by the same control variables variation as the normal state. As a result, vibration signals between normal and abnormal state could be distinguished by comparison of the perpendicular and horizontal vibration signal.

  • Robust control for DC motor is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a motor control system with PID contoller has an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. In this paper, PID-supervision hybrid control methods for motor control system (without the supervisory controller) is stable in the sense that the error is inside the constraint set, the supervisory control is idle. If the error hits the boundary of the constraint, the supervisory controller beings operation to force the error back to the constraint set. We prove that the PID-supervision hybrid control system is globally stable in the sense that the error is guaranteed to be within the tolerance limits specified by the system designer.

  • Unlike the large sized generations of transmission system, the distributed generations have complexities in analyzing and determining model. This paper resents an analytical method for the reliability evaluation of distribution system, including the distributed generations. The method using Load Duration Curve model is simpler than the Monte-Carlo Simulation and is more accurate than that using peak load model. The modeling of distributed generation to analysis reliability of customers using LDC is proposed in this paper, and is compared with the MCS method as a result of case studies.

  • The induction heating is widely used not only in the industrial fields but also in the home appliances. But the conventional induction heating systems have shortcoming that it use only magnetic utensil, in this paper, heating of Aluminum sheet by full-bridge series resonant high-frequency inverter is proposed. Also, the principle of induction heating and operations of full-bridge inverter equivalent circuit are explained. The proposed inverter controls the output voltage using phase-shift irrespective of the switching frequency using phase-shift. As a result the proposed induction heating system by full-bridge resonant inverter shows the possibility that make up for the shortcoming of the conventional existing induction heating systems.

This paper presents a test and analysis of the instantaneous trip characteristics of the Low Voltage 30AF(Ampere Frame) Circuit Breakers, which can be expected to be used for improving the safety of the Low Voltage Circuit Breaker.

  • Distributed Generation (DG) is predicted to play a important role in electric power system in the near future. insertion of DG system into existing distribution network has great impact on real-time system operation and planning. It is widely accepted that micro turbine generation (MTG) systems are currently attracting lot of attention to meet customers need in the distributed power generation market. In order to investigate the performance of MT generation systems, their efficient modeling is required. This paper presents the modeling and simulation of a MT generation system suitable for stand-alone operation. The system comprises of a permanent magnet synchronous generator driven by a MT. A brief description of the overall system is given, and mathematical models for the MT and permanent magnet synchronous generator are presented. Also, the use of power electronics in conditioning the power output of the generating system is demonstrated. Simulation studies with MATLAB/Simulink have been carried out in stand-alone operation mode of a DG system.

  • This paper shows a reasonable power density, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated power consumption capacity for the year and peak power, contract power for the last 5 years of each customer for 23 general customers all data obtained by AMR. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimun and load factor.
