  • In this paper, a design concept of post-tensioned precast bridge piers was proposed to improve seismic behavior of the bridge pier. Mild reinforcing bars are placed continuously along the height of the column. Prestressing tendons are also provided to obtain re-centering capability for seismic events. Arrangement of the axial steels to prevent buckling of rebars at plastic hinge region was suggested and enhanced seismic performance was verified by experiments. Moment-curvature analyses were performed to evaluate the effect of effective prestress on seismic behavior after verifying the calculation method by cyclic tests of the precast columns. A real bridge pier was designed to investigate the seismic performance according to different level of effective prestress. Level of effective prestress showed obvious effect on crushing displacement but negligible effect on lateral displacement at fracture of tendons and reinforcements.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the inelastic behavior of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge piers. A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. An unbonded tendon element based on the finite element method, that can represent the interaction between tendon and concrete of prestressed concrete member, is used. A joint element is newly developed to predict the inelastic behaviors of segmental joints. The proposed numerical method for the inelastic behavior of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge piers is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

  • Totally, 12 precast RC piers were constructed and tested to evaluate the seismic performance. Experimental variables of the specimens were confinement steel amount, longitudinal steel ratio, aspect ratio, segment connecting method. Only deformed bars were used for longitudinal steel to maximize economical efficiency.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop precast concrete structural wall panel that can assure reliable seismic performance. In the previous study, the connection of precast concrete structural wall has some problems in seismic performance. Therefore, this research proposed the precast concrete structural walls which can improve seismic performance. And their seismic performance was verified through lateral loading experiment.

  • Purpose: Now a day, Most of the residential house in Korea consists of apartment buildings. However, in the case of old apartment buildings, dwelling environment condition depends on management effort by residents. But we can't rebuild or restructure only old single dwelling unit in apartment buildings. And we can't move every single dwelling unit in the apartment building. Therefore, this study suggests a prototype of combinable container dwelling module apartment. Method: The method of research is exploring the case of previously constructed containers. Based on the case, This study suggests prototypes to create a variable apartment design with dwelling container units. Based on the prototype, various combinations are proposed to produce various types of dwelling space. Finally, this study makes an example plan for the apartment by using the container unit modules. Results: This study suggests combinable container apartment building prototypes. And it may be a fundamental study of changing the apartment building concept.

  • Geometry control of precast members is the most important technology for modular construction. In this paper, image-based modeling and rendering (IBMR) technology was adopted for 3D modeling of precast elements. It is necessary to use match-casting method for precast post-tensioned column assembly. Preassembly using 3D models created by image processing can minimize construction error. Augmented reality devices are used to check the geometry of the segment. Laboratory-scale tests were performed. The proposed process has been applied to the real precast bridge pier segments.

  • Precast concrete panel buildings are designed to tracsmit shear forces through the joint between the reinforced concrete panels. The shear strength is partly provided by the resistance to sliding at the interface between the precast and in- situ concrete and partly by the dowel action of the reinforcement crossing the joint. The shear resistance to sliding is largely dependent on the shapes and configurations of vertical joints and the vertical loads of horizontal joints. In this paper, the shear strength by the difference of relative strength between panel and joint, the effect of reinforcement, and the effect of vertical load are considered.

  • Bending is one of the most common cold-stamping operations, recently it is many used to produce structural frame. Depending on the shape and dimensions of complex structural frame, a successive bending operation with simple dies may be economic. But, in this paper, it has been focused to reduce the bending operations by a successive-action compound die. Designed compound-die consists of blank-holder, cam, wedge and etc. In the result, this compound-die for structural frame enabled that it makes seven bending processes into one process, and improved productivity.
