A Flow Control using Client Buffer and Network State in VOD Systems (VOD 시스템에서 클라이언트 버퍼 및 네트워크 상태를 고려한 흐름제어)

  • 본 논문은 VOD 시스템에서 QoS를 보장해 주기 위한 흐름 제어 기법을 제안하고 실제 구현된 VOD 시스템에서 제안된 알고리즘을 적용하고 성능을 측정하였다. 기존의 버퍼를 관리하는 Leaky Bucket 알고리즘과 패킷의 손실률에 기반한 네트워크의 상태를 동시에 고려해서 클라이언트와 서버간에 전송 속도를 제어한다. 즉, 시간에 따라 변화하는 네트워크의 상태를 클라이너트 버퍼 관리에 반영해줌으로써 클라이언트 버퍼의 오버플로우 및 언더 플로우를 방지하고 QoS를 보장한다.

  • 홈 네트워크에서 인터넷 정보가전을 제어하고 관리하는 미들웨어는 홈 네트워크 내에서만 액세스가 가능하고 외부에서 접근하기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 홈 네트워크 내에서는 UPnP 미들웨어를 사용하고 광역 액세스망에서는 SIP를 이용하여 접근하는 방식을 제안한다. 즉, 홈 게이트웨이에 SIP와 UPnP를 연결시켜주는 가교역할의 브리지(bridge)를 설계하여 인터넷이나 PSTN과 같은 광역 액세스망에서 댁내 정보가전을 제어하고 관리하는 방법을 제안한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 외부 클라이언트가 홈 네트워크 시스템을 컨트롤 하기위하여 홈 네트워크의 보안요소 중 사용자 인증과 접근제어에 관하여 연구 하였으며 사용자 인증의 인증서는 X.509 v3의 인증서를 기반으로 사용하고 X.509 v3의 확장영역에 사용자의 그룹을 나누어 디바이스를 제어하고 접근이 제한된 디바이스는 ACL(Access Control List)을 추가하여 접근제어를 하는 방법으로 접근이 제한된 사용자와 이를 관리하는 관리자로 나누어 각 디바이스에 대한 접근제안과 외부 공격으로 부터의 안전하게 보호할 수 있게 제안한 논문이다.

  • In crowded subway stations indoor air quality (IAQ) is a key factor for ensuring the safety and health of passengers. Since physical variables that describing IAQ such as the concentration of particulate, $CO_2$, VOCs and biological agents need to be closely monitored and controlled in multiple locations within subway stations and in remote sites, concept of web-based monitoring and control network using both wireless and wired media needs to be implemented. Connecting remote wireless sensor network and device (LonWorks) networks to the IP network based on the concept of VDN can provide a powerful, integrated, distributed monitoring and control performance. In this study, performance of wireless and wired network in VDN for monitoring and control of IAQ in subway stations is evaluated. Specifically, delay induced in wireless and wired networks, and data transmission rate are evaluated. A key parameter is identified in assuring safety and health of passengers in subway stations.

  • In this paper, we propose the fault-tolerant network-based mobility management scheme for supporting multimedia services of broadcasting & communications convergence in fixed mobile convergence (FMC) networks. The proposed scheme is based on AIMS (Access Independent Mobility Service) which is developed for the mobility support among heterogeneous access networks. To support stable location management and handover control for a MN, the proposed scheme supports stable management of binding information by sensing network attachment and detachment of a mobile node (MN). In addition, the proposed fault-tolerant (FT) AIMS supports a function of message retransmission for the support of handover control message and a function of heartbeat message transmission for the support of stable access network environments to a mobile node. We evaluate and analyze the performance of the proposed scheme through the implementation of AIMS system test-bed.

  • IEEE 802.15.4e is a prospective standard for low latency control application in industries. This paper proposes a framework to evaluate the closed loop IEEE 802.15.4e based WNCS performance. The framework consists of two models: closed loop control system model and network model. The network model focuses on the PHY parameters of wireless link and takes the channel parameters into consideration. The PHY model combining with MAC model gives the control system model the probability of packet loss in a super-frame. In addition, redundancy mechanism is considered in IEEE 802.15.4e to reduce to data frame loss probability. The simulation is implemented in Matlab, PHY model takes the channel parameters from empirical results. Hence our evaluation gives insight into behavior of WNCS in different environments and it provides us a tool to design wireless network to achieve a good performance for control system.

  • Wireless network has been used in many applications due to its advantages such as convenience, mobility, productivity, easy deployment, easy expandability and low cost. When it comes to stability, wireless network still shows its limitation which makes it difficult to be used for real-time control system. One of the first problems of using wireless network for control system is clock synchronization. There have been synchronization schemes proposed for wired networked control system as well as wireless network. But these should not be applied directly in wireless network control system. In this paper, we point out the importance of clock synchronization in wireless network control system. Then based on the characteristic of wireless networked control system, we propose a clock synchronization scheme for it. Furthermore, we simulate our scheme and compare with previous synchronization scheme in wired and wireless environments.

  • The congestion in wireless sensor network increases the ratio of data loss and causes the delay of data. The existing congestion protocols for wireless sensor network reduces the amount of transmission by control the sampling frequency of the sensor nodes related to the congestion when the congestion has occurred and was detected. However, the control method of sampling frequency is not applicable on the situation which is sensitive to the temporal data loss. In the paper, we propose a new congestion control, ACT - Adaptive Congestion conTrol. The ACT monitors the network traffic with the queue usage and detects the congestion based on the multi level threshold of queue usage. Given network congestion, the ACT increases the efficiency of network by adaptive flow control method which adjusts the frequency of packet transmission and guarantees the fairness of packet transmission between nodes. Furthermore, ACT increases the quality of data by using the variable compression method. Through experiment, we show that ACT increases the network efficiency and guarantees the fairness to sensor nodes compared with existing method.

  • Nowadays, data-based scientific research is a trend, and the transmission of large amounts of data has a great influence on research productivity. To solve this problem, a separate network structure for transmitting large-scale scientific big data is required. ScienceDMZ is a network structure designed to transmit such scientific big data. In such a network configuration, it is essential to establish an access control list(ACL) for users and resources. In this paper, we describe the R&E Together project and the network structure implemented in the actual ScienceDMZ network structure, and define users and services to which access control policies are applied for safe data transmission and service provision. In addition, it presents a method for the network administrator to apply the access control policy to all network resources and users collectively, and through this, it was possible to achieve automation of the application of the access control policy.
