  • The way of thinking of rural residents(Izuk-myun, Anseong-gun, Kyeonggi-do) was surveyed in order to develop the basic model of new rural setlement planning. From the data collected in this survey, rural life-style, farmers' view on traditional rural life, agriculture, farming, agri-policy, social attitude, and degree of satisfaction of rural life, etc. were analyzed. Firstly, most of rural residents interviewed in this survey have the opinion of not leaving their home village if living conditions improved to a reasonable level in the near furture. In decision- making process of village affairs, they want to participate actively and equally. Secondly, in spite of their acceptance of agriculture as a vital sector destined to national security, most of them think that farming should be little of promise. Thirdly, they have the negative attitude to urban-oriented social value and also to the agricultural policy, while seeking consolation through human and traditional viewing of rural life style. Therefore, in the development of new rural settlement model, idea-making should be directed to the betterment of communal value of village life, stability of rural economy, rationalization of rural life style and enhancement of rural-type happiness.

  • This study aims to conceptualize the settlement inclusivity for overcoming social exclusion and the decline in quality of life of older people and to examine its effects on their mental health. The concept of the settlement inclusivity for older people focuses on the immediate environment around the place where they live. We proposed two domains for the conceptual framework; social domain that provides opportunities for community cohesion; spatial domain that provides security of residential area and access to basic services within walking distance. The social domain was represented by participation and interdependence, while the spatial domain by security and accessibility in the settlement inclusivity. Zero-inflated negative binomial regression model was constructed with 2017 National Survey of Older Koreans data to analyze the factors influencing depressive symptoms of older adults. The empirical results demonstrate that increased level of neighborhood network and social participation is associated with a decrease in the number of depressive symptoms. In addition, higher satisfaction in neighborhood environment and good accessibility to public transport/stores are associated with fewer depressive symptoms. Finally, housing condition and home ownership have a moderating effect on the relationship between social network/participation and depressive symptoms level, whereas they have no direct effects on depressive symptoms. This study demonstrates multi-dimensionally and mutually significant associations between settlement inclusivity and depressive symptoms for older people providing implications for urban planning and policies to improve mental well-being of older population.

  • This study used Gangwon provincial social survey data(2021) to verify the effect of working environment satisfaction of the main working population on settlement consciousness and the mediating effect of subject employment stability. The working environment satisfaction was analyzed by dividing it into three sub-factors: income satisfaction, working conditions satisfaction, and community life satisfaction. As a result of the study, all three sub-factors of working environment satisfaction and subjective employment stability had a positive correlations with settlement consciousness. It was confirmed that subjective employment stability had a partial mediating effect when each of the three sub-factors of working environment satisfaction affected settlement consciousness. Based on the results of the study, it is meaningful to provide empirical data for preventing outflow of the local population by revealing the effect of working environment satisfaction and subjective employment stability on the settlement consciousness.

  • An ecological survey on the crawling activity of the Periophthalmus cantonensis in the Gum River was carried out during the period from July to October 1978. The results obtained are as follows. Distribution : From Chilsanri to Osikdo $$Density\;of\;population\;(Number/m^2):\;1.5/m^2$$ $$High\;ebb\;zone:\;2.6/m^2=56\%$$ $$Mid\;ebb\;zone:\;1.5/m^2=32\%$$ $$Low\;ebb\;gone:\;0.5/m^2=12\%$$ The percentage of the fish having established territory, then Mean body length of the fish having established territory: $86\%$ Mean body length of the transfering population : 2.16mm/sec Activity area: 10m As the fish grow there is a tendency that the individual occupy a certain area, the territory, then gradually increasing the area. When they re-aggregate, especially in high ebb zone, size difference between individuals in a group is not observed.
