  • This study aimed to compare the effects of two emotion regulation strategies, namely, cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression in female college students. Specifically, the effects of these two emotion regulation strategies were tested and the intrapersonal factors related to the effects of these strategies were explored. The participants included 60 female college students. In Study 1, 40 participants were randomly assigned to each of the two different strategy groups, i.e., a between-subject design was employed. In Study 2, 20 participants were asked to use both strategies to regulate their emotion, i.e., a within-subject design was employed. The results revealed that both emotion regulation strategies effectively reduced negative emotion of emotional stimuli. However, the use of emotion regulation assessed with a questionnaire was not matched to the actual usage of regulation strategies examined with a task. Finally, the use of a suppression strategy was related to the extroversion psychological adaptive variable. Our findings suggest that the subjective assessment of the use of an emotion regulation strategy may not be the same as the actual use of an emotion regulation strategy. Furthermore, we demonstrated that when participants have an option to use both strategies, the cognitive reappraisal is more functional than expression suppression. This concurs with the previous findings on the effects of emotion regulation strategies.

  • Mindfulness is being used as one of the techniques for emotional regulation. In emotional regulation, mindfulness is considered as an uncontrolled way in that it observes the present experience as it is, rather than attempting to reduce or eliminate negative affective experiences. However, in this study, the purpose of this study is to confirm that mindfulness can affect emotional regulation through perceived control. To confirm this, I verified whether perceived control had a mediating effect on the relationship between mindfulness and difficulty in emotional regulation. For this 366 university students (179 males, 187 females) were surveyed using the scales of mindfulness, perceived control, and difficulty in emotional regulation, and mediation was analysed using Hayes' PROCESS macro. As a result of the analysis, it was found that perceived control had a fully mediating effect in the relationship between mindfulness and emotional regulation difficulties. These results suggest that mindfulness affect emotional regulation through perceived control.

  • This study was conducted to examine mediative effects of two factors, emotion control and thinking control, in the relationship between avoid fusion and attention. Participants (308 high school students) were asked to complete a questionnaire which contains items to measure some psychological properties such as emotion control (EC), thinking control (TC), avoidance avoid fusion (CF), conceration(Co) and learning attitude(LA). Structural equation model analysis showed that 8 of modified 9 paths were statistically significant; CF to Co and TC, TC to EC, Co, and LA, EC to Co and LA, and Co to LA. Limitations and suggestions were mentioned in the discussion.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and the moderating effect of supervisor's emotional regulation in the relationship between the emotion recognition and negative feedback acceptance of employees. The data was collected from 273 non-managerial workers in various domestic companies. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with AMOS 22 to verify the reliability and validity of the measurement tool, and the mediating and moderating effects were examined using SPSS Process Macro to verify the hypothesis. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, emotion recognition of employees indirectly affects the acceptance of negative feedback through adaptive cognitive emotional regulation. Second, the effect of emotion recognition on negative feedback acceptance is moderated by supervisor's emotion regulation. Specifically, it was confirmed that when the supervisor's emotional control is low, the relationship between emotional recognition and negative feedback acceptance becomes stronger. Based on the results of the study, it was confirmed that the level of awareness of oneself and others' emotions was psychological process of accepting performance-related feedback, and the importance of supervisor's emotional regulation in positively accepting negative feedback. Finally, based on the research results, the academic significance of this study, implications in coaching practice, limitations, and future research were discussed.

The researchers surveyed college students for about 3 weeks through a questionnaire on college campus or with the help of their colleagues and professors. The subjects were 362 students. SPSS, AMOS and Mplus were used for statistical analysis, correlation analysis and structural equation analysis. The conclusions are as follows : First, emotion dysregulation, relation addiction and covert narcissism showed positive correlation and covert narcissism, emotion dysregulation, relation addiction and perceived social support showed a significant negative correlation. Second, it was found that after investigating the mediation effect of emotion dysregulation and perceived social support in the influence between covert narcissism and relation addiction, emotion dysregulation turned out to have a significant mediating effect while perceived social support did not. Third, dual mediating effect was significant in emotion dysregulation and perceived social support in the influence between covert narcissism and relation addiction. These findings proved that covert narcissism, emotion dysregulation, perceived social support are variables that effect relation addiction, and also clarified that emotion dysregulation is a strong mediating variable in the influence between covert narcissism and relation addiction. • Based on the affective event theory, the purpose of the study is to examine the effect of the individual difference regulatory focus on the process in which the work events affect job engagement under organizational circumstances. To this end, 232 financial workers were surveyed on positive events, positive affects, regulatory focus and job engagement. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the positive events generated positive affects and showed positive influence on job engagement. Second, the effect of positive affects on job engagement has been shown to be discriminatory depending on the level of regulatory focus. The higher the level of promotion focus, the stronger the effect on job engagement of positive affects, and the higher the level of prevention focus, the weaker the effect on job engagement of positive affects. Third, the moderated mediated effect was found to be significant only in the prevention focus. The magnitude of indirect effects on job engagement by positive events was found to be weakened when the prevention focus was high. Finally, the implications and future research issues were discussed.
