A Study on the Characteristics of Information Design in Multimedia Design (멀티미디어디자인에서 정보디자인 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Although information design principles had originated from the graphic design field including publishing design in 1970s, information design have taken one of the most important positions in multimedia design fields as the present since Richard Saul Wurmn started his researches on information design and its practical application on internet environments. However, relatively little researches have been performed for building identity of information design in multimedia design fields so far and moreover in some cases, information design is likely to be narrowly viewed as 'the representation of a piece of information and its visualization' which was defined in traditional graphic design field. This research circumstance leads the study to investigate characteristics of information design in current multimedia design with contingent perspective which is compared to the traditional information design. The study results suggest 5 characteristics of information design including 'suggesting context & finding out information hierarchy', 'access of integrated consideration & share of information control', 'using of multi-dimensional media & content first', 'stabilization of information quality & combinational understanding of meaning', 'bilateral information representation & user's knowledge expansion'. Future researches, based on the results of the study, are expected to be expanded to a degree with argument for inter-dependent and/or exclusive characteristics of adjacent fields of information design such as interface design, interaction design and experience design.

A Study on an Analysis of Core Information Literacy Competencies for Information Literacy Instruction of Undergraduate Students in Design Discipline (디자인분야 대학생의 정보문해 교육을 위한 핵심 정보문해능력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Design discipline requires more specialized and sophisticated information literacy competencies necessary to effectively find and apply the information that students need for their teaming and the future independent designer than are outlined in general information literacy competencies. Therefore, The goals of this study is to identify specific information literacy competencies within the Design Discipline. This research analyzed design-specific core information literacy competencies through the literature analysis on the design goals & curriculum of four domestic universities and the NASAD standards & guidelines and verified those by Delphi Survey. The result showed that design discipline requires commonly 26 specific core competencies in seven broad categories and the these competencies are related to the time for information literacy Instruction. Also, The result analyzed that such majors in design as product design, visual design, need additionally more specialized and detailed competencies with specific focus and that design discipline requires commonly the information literacy competencies about general studies & fundamental ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the methods and contents of information literacy instruction before the developing of Information Literacy Program Model that can improve information literacy competencies of undergraduate students in design discipline. After the literature review on the comparative analysis of national standards & program for higher education and the NASAD standards & guidelines. This research analyzed the methods and contents of the information literacy instruction by the Delphi Survey. As a result of Delphi Survey, the research found out that design discipline preferred Hands-on design-specific instruction by professional librarian at the request of a department and required design-specific information literacy instruction based on the structure of knowledge and information-seeking practices within the design discipline, and providing design-specific tools, resources to helping students apply in learning and actual situation.

  • This study will analyze that the meaning and the characteristic of Information design type advertising. This study research the advertisement and Information with the issue and explore Information design type advertising samples by doing an in-depth analysis with an expert group and an inexpert group. It attracts customers visualizing sensational information and data as information design technique. It can be classified in to Manual type ad, Identity type ad, Data visualizing type ad. The communication formula of it goes through the keywords: Attention, Curation, Study, and these Curation and Study are new steps which didn't exist before in consumer behavior model. Information used in it comes from common sense or storytelling made by imagination, but there is no example of using false information distorting truth. Not exaggeration and falsehood, interesting which based on confidence creates a bond of sympathy: period time.

  • With the change of design environment, the aquisition and application of appropriate information are regarded as greatly important, especially in the product development process for the next generation. It will be important that aquired information be transformed and applied to design information. With this framework, features of design information and its application were studied in this paper. First, the interrelationship of design and information was analyzed. Second, effective methods to collect various design information were classified and several guidelines with which to apply these methods were suggested. Third, the role of design information in the rapid development of computer, information and internet technology was analyzed and several recommendations were suggested. Finally, the information database for trend analysis, based on computer and internet technology was developed and its application was studied in order to show an example of the collection and application of design information.

  • 본 소고의 목적은 중국과 한국의 지하철 역사 내에 있는 시각정보디자인의 양식 및 감성의 비교연구이다. 한국의 마찬가지로 중국 사회도 급속한 경제성장과 더불어 지하공간의 중요성이 증대되어지고 있다. 그리하여 지하교통의 아내시스템의 중요성이 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타나게 되었다. 지하 공간에서 시각적 정보 디자인 성패의 가장 큰 평가기준은 바로 그 디자인에 대한 대중들의 인지도의 강약이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 지하철의 역할이 중요함에도 불구하고, 안내 시스템 등과 같은 일부 지하철 내부의 시각적 정보들은 사람들의 출입 등에 편의를 제공해주지 못하고 있다. 또한 각 지하철 역사내 시각정보시스템의 통일된 체계 구축과 함께 지역적 특성도 부가되어야만 한다. 때문에 시각적 정보에 대한 대중들의 인지도를 어떻게 높일가? 하는 문제는 모든 지하공간의 시각정보디자인에 있어서 반드시 해결해야 할 문제가 되었다. 본 논문에서는 한구 부산의 서면 지하철 역과 베이징 서지문 지하철 역 내부의 시각적 정보 디자인의 색채 조형 문자 등 시각 디자인을 구성하는 전반적인 관련요소에 대한 비교와 분석을 통해, 서로 다른 문화의 영항 하에서 두 곳의 시각적 정보 디자인의 공통점과 감성의 다른 점 및 어떤 디자인이 대중들의 시각적 정보 디자인의 인지도 높일 수 있는지에 대한 연구를 진행하고자 한다.

  • Form design for information registration should consider and classify various possible cases and each user case and reflect it in the design. In this paper, I analyzed the visual and emotional factors of information design that elicit positive emotions from the user experience point of view, focusing on the birth certificate of among other public documents issued by the government. In order to derive problems and supplements from the user's overall writing experience point of view, Keller's Motivational Behavior Construction Model was used. The process of writing the birth registration form creates recognition, reasoning, relationship, establishment, achievement, expectation. In order to more actively draw an emotional point of view, it is essential to set of information and to materialize the information experience. It is hoped that this will be a good guideline in the process of presenting a new perspective on information design and improving the experience.

A Proposal for Meta Guideline of Orientate Signage Design based on Information Design (정보디자인 관점에서 방향 안내 표지판 디자인의 메타 가이드라인 제안)

  • Wayfinding is a 'Process solving problem to find destination', and it is important to select spatial data for optimal way. Recently, due to the complexity of space and the expansion of the medium of the wayfinding service, it is necessary to the approach on the information design for them. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a meta guideline on the information design for the design of orientation sign, which is an important cognitive clue in the wayfinding. It was conducted in 3 stages, First, a design process was proposed and design elements were derived for each step by literature research related to information and sign design, and analysis of manual for signage design. Second, a meta guideline for information organization and visualization in the three-stage design process was proposed by FGI and analysis. Third, the meta guideline was applied to the sign design on an area for user evaluation to inspect the applicability of the meta guideline. Through the user questionnaire, the possibility of applying the guideline for visualization of directions and spaces, information hierarchy according to spatial characteristics and information priority was identified. It is meaningful in that necessary element for signage design are systematized centering on the process and that it presents a macroscopic methodology according to spatial characteristics.

  • 산업통상자원부가 주최하고 한국디자인진흥원이 주관하는 우수디자인(GD)상품 선정은 산업디자인진흥법에 의거해 1985년부터 매년 시행되고 있으며, 공정한 심사를 거쳐 디자인이 우수한 상품과 서비스에 정부인증 마크인GD(Good Design)마크를 부여하는 제도이다. 2020년에는1208점이출품, 총 405점이 GD로 선정되었으며, 이 중 Grand prize, Gold prize, Silver prize, Bronze prize 등 총 79점이 수상의 영광을 안았다. 우수디자인(GD)상품 선정은 최근 2년 이내 국내 또는 국외에서 판매를 개시하였거나 당해년도 판매 예정인 상품을 대상으로 하며, 제품, 시각/정보디자인, 디지털미디어/콘텐츠디자인, 공간/환경디자인, 패션/텍스타일디자인, 서비스/경험디자인, 산업공예 디자인 등 7개 부문, 총 27개 분야로 구성됐다. 포장은 시각/정보 디자인 부문 내 패키지 디자인 분야 외에도 제품 디자인 등 다수의 분야에서 선정됐다. 다음에 우수디자인으로 선정된 포장 관련 상품들을 살펴보도록 한다.
