  • In this paper, we have constructed high-resolution topographical map of macro-tidal Malipo beach through integration of terrestrial LiDAR measurement and MBES survey data at inter-tidal zone. To acquire the enough information of inter-tidal zone, we have done terrestrial LiDAR measurement mounted on the roof of vehicle with DGPS through go-stop-scan method at the ebb tide and MBES depth surveying with tide gauge and eye staff measurement for tide correction and MSL calculation at the high tide all together. To integrate two kinds of data, we have unified the vertical coordination standard to Incheon MSL. The mean error of overlapped inter-tidal zone is about 2~6 cm. To verify the accuracy of terrestrial LiDAR, RTK-DGPS measurement have done simultaneously and the difference of Z value RMSE is about 4~7 cm. The resolution of Malipo topographical map is 50 cm and it has constructed to DEM (Digital Elevation Model) based on GIS. Now it has used as an input topography information for the storm-surge inundation prediction models. Also it will be possible to use monitoring of beach process through the long-term periodic measurement and GIS-based 3D spatial analysis calculating the erosion and deposition considering with the artificial beach transition and coastal environmental parameters.

  • In this study, the epoch adjustment model was developed to correct GPS precise point positioning result to be suitable for the current geodetic datum of Korea which is tied at past epoch statically. The model is based on the formula describing crustal movements, and the formula is composed of several parameters. To determine the parameters, the data gathered at 14 permanent GPS stations for 10 years, from 2000 to 2011, were processed using GIPSY-OASIS II. It was possible to determine the position of permanent GPS stations with an error range of 16mm and the position of check points with an error range of 12mm by appling the model to GPS precise point positioning result. It is considered that more precise model could be calculated by using GPS data of more permanent GPS stations.

  • In these days, surveying instruments are developing rapidly and the precision is improving continuously. The reappearance of three dimensional terrains of a great precision are possible and the calculation of the area or the volume has a high precision due to the development of the technique of the spatial information system using computer. But actually, in construction site they calculate two-dimensional area using the traditional method, plane table surveying, planimeter, and then get ground surface area through timing the slope correction factor. In this study, I show the defect and inefficiency of the calculation of the area by the traditional methods and survey the area with Electronic Distance Measuring equipment and GPS instrument. With these data, we made the three dimensional terrain model and calculated two-dimensional area and ground surface area. After that, I compared areas that calculated by algorithm method of irregular triangle and analysis of grid method with standardizing the area that calculated by the traditional method. Finally, I suggested more effective and precise method in calculating ground surface area.

  • The previous land gravity data in Korea showed locally biased irregular distribution. Especially, this problem was more serious in the mountainous area where the data density was significantly low. The same problem appeared in GPS/Levelling data thus the precision of the geoid could not be improved. From 2008, new gravity and GPS/Levelling data has been collected by the unified control point and survey on the benchmark project which were funded by the national geographic information institute. The newly obtained data has much better distribution and precision so that it could be used for update precision of geoid model. In this study, the new precision geoid has been calculated based old and new gravity data and this model showed 5.29cm of precision compared to 927 points of GPS/Levelling data. And the degree of fit and precision of hybrid geoid has been calculated 2.99cm and 3.67cm. The new gravimetric geoid has been updated about 27% over whole country. And it showed 42% of precision update due to collection of new gravity data on the Kangwon/Kyeongsang area which showed quite low distribution. In 2010, about 4,000 points of gravity and 300 points of GPS/Levelling data has been obtained by unified control and survey on benchmark project. We expect that new data will contribute to updating geoid precision and veri tying precision more objectively.

  • Car-mounted MMS (Mobile Mapping System) is the most effective tool for mapping of high definition road maps(HD Map). The MMS is composed of various sensor combinations, and the manufacturing methods and processing software are different for each manufacturer, performance cannot be predicted only by the specifications of the parts. Therefore, it is necessary to judge whether each equipment is suitable for mapping through performance evaluation, and facilities for periodic performance evaluation. In this paper, we explained the MMS performance evaluation facilities built at the SOC Evaluation Research Center of Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology and analyzed the conditions that the evaluation facilities should have through a literature survey and field tests.

  • Impact of tropospheric correction techniques on accuracy of the GPS (Global Positioning System) derived ellipsoidal heights has been experimentally assessed in this paper. To this end, 247 baselines were constructed from a total of 88 CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) in Korea. The GPS measurements for seven days, acquired from the so-called integrated GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) data center via internet connection, have been processed by two baseline processing software packages with an application of the empirical models, such as Hopfield, modified Hopfield and Saastamoinen, and the estimation techniques based on the DD (Double-Differenced) measurements and the PPP (Precise Point Positioning) technique; hence a total number of the baseline processed and tested was 8,645. Accuracy and precision of the estimated heights from the various correction schemes were analyzed about baseline lengths and height differences of the testing baselines. Details of these results are summarized with a view to hopefully providing an overall guideline of a suitable selection of the modeling scheme with respect to processing conditions, such as the baseline length and the height differences.

  • Kinematic GPS surveying which can obtain much 3D topographical information through short-time measurement is being utilized mainly in the short baseline less than a few kilometers. Because the decision of position for the long baseline depends on the static GPS surveying which needs long time measurement, the method for measuring the position of long baseline is needed. In this study, the accuracy of the baseline according to the baseline distance, ephemeris, and observation time by GPS surveying is analysed to confirm the application of kinematic GPS surveying for the long baseline. As the result of this, the acquisition of 3D topographical information by GPS surveying in a few minutes will be possible when PDOP is less than 4, and the fast precise ephemeris is used within 60 km. Also, the accuracy is similar to that of final precise ephemeris of IGS. If a lot of studies about the long baseline kinematic GPS surveying are processed, the acquisition of topographical information for various industry including land development will be obtained more efficiently.
