연삭가공에 있어 비가공 시간 단축에 관한 연구(I) -음향센서를 이용한 공연삭 시간의 단축- (Reducing the Non Grinding Time in Grinding Operations(1st Report) -Reducing the Air Grinding time using Sound Sensor-)

  • Air grinding time in grinding process has a great effect on its efficiency due to low feedrate. This paper presents a reduction methos of air grinding time in cylindrical plunge grinding operation. Tje reduction of air grinding time is accomplished by finding the distance between contact point and rising point of ultra- sonic signal of the grinding wheel to workpiece. It uses a variation of sound signal generated by the flow of coolant when the grinding wheel approaches to workpiece. The ultrasonic sensor with 23 kHz center fre- quency and 8 kHz bandwidth is used to find the nearest approaching point(NAP). Monitoring and control system of the grinding conditions is implemented with CNC controller to control feedrate override and ultrasonic sensor to find NAP. The experimental result shows that the ultrasonic signal is a good measure- ment to find NAP. But it needs the considerations for the effect of the relationship between flowrate of coolant and diameter of workpiece.

성형용 코어면 DLC 코팅에 의한 비구면 Glass렌즈 광학적 특성에 관한 연구 (Optical Properties of Aspheric Glass Lens using DLC Coated Molding Core)

  • 본 연구에서는 3 메가픽셀, 2.5배 줌 카메라폰 모듈용 비구면 유리렌즈 개발을 목적으로 실험계획법(DOE)을 적용하여 성형용 초경 코어의 연삭가공조건을 구하고, 이를 활용하여 비구면 Glass렌즈 성형용 초경합금(WC) 코어를 초정밀 연삭가공을 수행하였다. 또한 가공된 성형용 코어의 가공면 위에 이온증착법으로 다이아몬드상 탄소(Diamond-Like Carbon; DLC) 코팅을 수행하여 DLC 코팅이 성형용 코어의 형상정도(PV)와 표면조도(Ra)에 미치는 영향을 평가하였으며, 비구면 Glass렌즈를 동일한 조건에서 성형하여 성형렌즈의 광학적 특성을 비교하여 성형용 코어면의 DLC 코팅 효과에 대하여 검토하였다.

  • 고품위의 동력전달 장치와 같은 고정밀 기능 부품들은 보다 높은 비강도, 고경도, 내마모성 및 내식성을 가져야 하며, 특히 소재의 마찰, 마모 특성은 기아제품 등의 수명, 정밀도 및 에너지 손실을 좌우하는 것으로서 물성의 열화를 극복할 수 있는 소재의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 지난 수년동안 금속기지에 $Al_2O_3$나 SiC등의 보강재를 첨가하여 복합재의 응착 및 연삭마모에 대한 저항성을 향상시키는 시도를 하고 있다. 주로 제조비용이 낮고 거의 등방적인 성질을 가지며 가공성이 좋은 입자 보강 복합재료에 대한 연구가 지배적이었지만, 입자 보강 복합재료의 경우 강도 및 탄성계수의 향상 정도가 적다는 단점을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 분말야금법을 이용하여 금속기지에 세라믹상으로 SiC 입자 및 휘스커가 첨가된 복합재를 제조하여 제조공정변수에 따라 마모거동을 pin-on-disk 형태의 마모시험기에서 실험하였으며, 주사전자현미경으로 마모표면관찰 등으로 복합재의 마모기구를 연구하였다.

고 정밀 캠 프로파일 CNC 연삭기용 CAD/CAM 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of CAD/CAM System for High Precision Cam Profile CNC Grinding Machine)

  • Cam mechanisms are one of the most popular devices for generating irregular motion and are widely used in many automatic equipments, such as textile machinery, internal combustion engines and other automatic devices. In order to obtain the positive motion of follower by rotating cam, its shape should be correctly designed and manufactured. In present paper, a CAD/CAM system is developed for shape design of disk cams using relative velocity method and NC code generation using the biarc curve interpolation. And, a disk cam is successfully manufactured by the developed CAD/CAM system. Thus, it is shown that the developed CAD/CAM system can be used for high precision cam profile CNC grinding machine.

  • Grinding technology in morden industry society is focusing on research and development for grinding stone and machin-ing parts for the purpose of high accuracy and high efficiency of products. But in order to equip the high technology and high accuracy of micro stone which is one of grinding stone a continuous effort on R& D is require. In this study the honing processing work of 2 cycle engine cylinder for motorcycle which has an open hole is carried out so as to investigate the boring and hone stone effects on accuracy of honing. As the experimental result of this study we could conclude that it is possible to secure good conditions of honing by controlling and keeping appropriate cycle-time in the stage of boring for the prior step of honing.

  • Recently, developments in the frontier industry have brought a rapid increase in the use of brittle materials such as silicon wafer, ferrite, sintered carbide, MgO single crystal and die steel. Because of high hardness and brittleness the cracking and chipping are apt to generate in the grinding of brittle materials, but have replaced gradually the high precision grinding. In this study, the optimum system of in-process electrolytic dressing controlled by computer was developed for improving the defects, and could maintain the optimum dressing condition at all times. The control of in-process dressing was simplified using this system, was able to maintain a stable dressing current and was unrelated to the change of dressing condition according to the variation of gap and oxide layer. Therefore, the optimum in-process electrolytic dressing system was constructed and the analysis of grinding mechanism with this system was studied.

  • Design of an in-process feedback control system has been studied for precision grinding. A grinding system consists of a grinding tool, a turn table and a disk-shaped workpiece on the table is taken as an object. A grinding process model has been deduced which gives some reasoning about the process errors. In the control system the tool position is actively controlled by an electro-magnetic actuator in-process. The ground error is feedback to compose a closed-loop control system and an optimal PID controller is applied. Some control performances such as transient response and disturbance such as transient response and disturbance attenuation have been examined, which convinces the effectiveness of the control. Some methods for implementation of the control. Some methods for implementation of the control have been suggested from a standpoint of practical application.

난삭재의 초정밀.고능률 연삭가공을 위한 다이아몬드숫돌의 개발 (Development of diamond wheel for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to-materials)

  • Development of diamond wheel with fine grains and multi-pore structures were newely attempted. Wheels, that are employed for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to materials such as tungsten carbide alloy using tool and die materials, must have both performances to remove tool marks efficiently and to contact elastically with curved surfaces. Diamond grains were bonded firmly by a melamine resin to prevent the decrease of machining efficiency due to grain sinking within the bond materials. Also, highly foamed structures were developed to increase the flexibility of the wheel, and to induce active self-sharpening by increasing contact pressure between the wheel and work surfaces. In this paper, melamine-bonded diamond wheels are trial manufactured, then the forming method of wheels are suggested, and the grinding characteristics of wheels are also illustrated.

  • In recent years grinding techniques for precision machining of brittle materials used in electric optical and magnetic parts have been improved by using superabrasive wheel and precision grinding machine. The completion of optimum dressing of superabrasibve wheel makes possible the effective precision grinding of brittle materials. But the present dressing system cannot have control of optimum dressing of the superabrasive wheel. This study has proposed a new optimum in-process dressing of superabrasive wheel and give very effective control according to gap increase.

정밀연삭시 발생하는 채터진동 실시간 감시에 대한 연구 (Study on the real time chatter detection method during the high accurate grinding process)

  • The chatter vibration in the machining process plays bad role in machining quality such as high roughness as well as tool life and machine failure. And the grinding process under this risk in the fully automated factory is exposed to the unexpected mass machining quality problem. Studying the vibration signal of the hub bearing grinding process, the reason of chatter vibration was explained with the specific machining pattern of chatter. And this study suggests the chatter detecting method in the production line, which is monitoring the peak acceleration level around the natural frequencies of the specimen, and calculating kurtosis value by assuming the chatter is related to the resonance of the specimen. The suggested method was applied to the vehicle hub bearing grinding process and proved good to detecting the chatter induced machining quality problem.
