유연 힌지 구조의 스테이지 구동범위 확대를 위한 힌지의 목두께 해석 (Analysis of Flexure Hinge Neck Thickness of a Lever in Ultra Precision Stages of a Long Travel Range)

  • Lever mechanisms are usually employed to enlarge output displacements in precision stages. In this study, theoretical analysis is done for a precision stage employing a lever and flexure hinges, including bending effect. This study presented relations between design parameters and magnification ratio. This study presents optimal values for the parameters to achieve a longer stage displacement. The analysis is verified by finite element analysis. It is found that adjusting stiffnesses can increase the travel range significantly.

정전용량형 변위 센서 신호 처리 회로 개발 및 성능 평가 (Development of a Signal Conditioning Circuit for Capacitive Displacement Sensors and Performance Evaluation)

  • A signal conditioning circuit for capacitive displacement sensors was developed using a high frequency modulation/demodulation method, and its performance was evaluated. Since capacitive displacement sensors can achieve high resolution and linearity, they have been widely used as precision sensors within the range of several hundred micrometers. However, they inherently have a limitation in low frequency range and some nonlinearity characteristics and so a specially designed signal conditioning circuit is needed to handle these properties. The developed signal processing circuit consists of three parts: linearization, modulation/demodulation, and nonlinearity compensation. Each part was constructed discretely using several IC chips and passive elements. An evaluation system for precision displacement sensors was developed using a laser interferometer, a precision stage, and a PID position controller. The signal processing circuit was tested using the evaluation system in the respect of resolution, repeatability, linearity, and so on. From the experimental results, we know that a highly linear voltage output can be obtained successfully, which is proportional to displacement and the nonlinearity of output is less than 0.02% of full range. However, in the future, further investigation is required to reduce noise level and phase delay due to a low-pass filter. The evaluation system also can be applied effectively to calibration and evaluation of precision sensors and stages.

회절격자 간섭계를 이용한 초정밀 스테이지의 6 자유도 운동 특성 측정 (Measurement of a Six-degree-of-freedom Dynamic Characteristics using Angle Sensor-Implemented Grating Interferometry)

  • This paper presents the new method for a six-degree-of-freedom (DOF) motion measurement and those dynamic characterizations in an ultraprecision linear stage using angle sensor-implemented grating interferometry. It consists of a diffractive optical element, a corner cube, four separate two-dimensional position sensitive detectors, four photodiodes and auxiliary optics components. From the previous study, it was confirmed that the proposed optical system could measure a six-DOF motion error in a linear stage. In this article, six-DOF motion dynamic characteristics of the stage were investigated through the step response and with respect to the conditions with a different speed of a slide table. As a result, the natural frequency and damping ratio according to a six-DOF direction was obtained. Also, it was seen that the speed of slide table had an significant effect on a six-DOF displacement motion, especially, X, which was considered as the effect of friction mechanism and local elastic mechanical deformation in a slide guide.

레이저 간섭계의 진직도 측정오차 보상 (Compensation of the Straightness Measurement Error in the Laser Interferometer)

  • The laser interferometer system such as HP5529A is one of the most powerful equipment fur measurement of the straightness error in precision stages. The straightness measurement system, HP5529A is composed of a Wollaston prism and a reflector. In this system, the straightness error is defined as relative lateral motion change between the prism and the reflector and computed from optical path difference of two polarized laser beams between these optics. However, rotating motion of the prism or the reflector used as a moving optic causes unwanted straightness error. In this paper, a compensation method is proposed for removing the unwanted straightness error generated by rotating the moving optic and an experiment is carried out for theoretical verification. The result shows that the unwanted straightness error becomes very large when the reflector is used as the moving optic and the distance between the reflector and the prism is far. Therefore, the prism must be generally used as the moving optic instead of the reflector so as to reduce the measurement error. Nevertheless, the measurement error must be compensated because it's not a negligible error if a rotating angle of the prism is large. In case the reflector must be used as the moving optic, which is unavoidable when the squareness error is measured between two axes, this compensation method can be applied and produces a better result.

플렉셔 구조의 병렬형 선형 안내기구를 이용한 2 축 초정밀 스테이지 (A Two-Axis Ultra-precision Stage Using Flexure-type Parallel Linear Guide Mechanism)

  • In this study, a two-axis ultra-precision stage driven by piezoelectric elements is presented. The stage has a flexure-type parallel linear guide mechanism consisting of quad-symmetric simple parallel linear springs and quad-symmetric double compound linear springs. While the simple parallel linear springs guide the linear motion of a moving plate in the stage, the double compound linear springs follow the motion of the simple parallel linear spring as well as compensate the parasitic motions caused by the simple parallel linear springs. The linear springs are designed by rectangular beam type flexures that are deformed by bending deflection rather than axial extension, because the axial extension is smaller than the bending deflection at the same force. The designed guide mechanism is analyzed by finite element method(FEM). Then two-axis parallel linear stage is implemented by the linear guide mechanism combined with piezoelectric elements and capacitance type displacement sensors. It is shown that the manufactured ultra-precision stage achieves 3 nm of resolution in x- and y-axis within 30 ${\mu}m$ of operating range.

초정밀 마이크로 위치결정 스테이지의 제작 및 평가 (Experiment of the Precision micro-positioning stage)

  • The performance of the precision micro-positioning 4-dof stage is presented. The compact design utilizes the monolithic mechanism to achieve the translation in the Z axis and rotation in the $\theta$ z, $\theta$ x and $\theta$ y axes with high stiffness and high damping. Hysteresis, nonlinearity, and drift of the piezoelectric effects are improved by incorporating the sensors in a feedback control. Experiments demonstrate that the micro-positioning stage is capable of 2nm resolution over the travel range of 25$\mu\textrm$ m in the Z axis, 0.0l7 $\mu\textrm$ rad resolution over the 170$\mu\textrm$ rad in the $\theta$ z and 0.011 $\mu\textrm$ rad resolution over the $\mu\textrm$ rad in the $\theta$ x and $\theta$ y axes. The cross-axis interferences among the axes are at a noise range. This stage is available for positioning error compensation of the XY stage with large stroke.

능동형 위상보정을 이용한 정밀 속도리플 제어기의 개발 (The Development of Velocity Ripple Controller Using Active Phase Compensation)

  • Velocity ripple in manufacturing processes reduces productivity and limits the precision of the product. In practice, the frequency and phase of velocity ripples always change minutely, which makes it impossible to compensate for the ripple by simply inserting an opposite feed-forward signal in the system. In this study, an active-phase compensation algorithm was developed to enable the velocity-ripple controller to track the phase change of the ripples in real time. The proposed controller can compensate for the velocity ripple whatever its cause, including disturbance by the torque ripple. The algorithm consists of three functional modules: the velocity-ripple extractor, the synchronized integrator, and the phase shifter. Experimental results showed that the proposed controller clearly reduces velocity ripples with phase variation.

초고속/초정밀/대면적의 레이저 가공시스템 설계 (Laser Processing System Design of Ultrafast/High Precision/large Area)

  • Current electronic products are dominated by the laser processing and the application will be extended this time. Especially, demands for high precision laser processing with a large area has been increasing for a number of applications such as in solar cell battery, display parts, electronic component and automobile industry. In this paper we designed an on-the-fly system for ultrafast/high precision/large area laser processing. In addition, we have developed the path algorithm for large area. Expansion of the area in which laser processing is an important factor to handle the ultrafast/wide area processing, it will require a processing path. Processing path is path of 2- axis stage and stage of change in velocity can be smooth as possible. We proposed a path of the user concept using NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline)method. Through our experiment with the chopper, was to prove the continuity of edge parts. Through basic shape experiments, we proved that large area can be processed using laser. We developed a simulation tool using Visual C++.

초정밀 스테이지를 위한 능동형 자기예압 공기베어링에 관한 연구 (Study on the Linear Air Bearing Stage with Actively Controllable Magnetic Preload)

  • A precise linear motion stage supported by magnetically preloaded air bearings is introduced where preloading magnetic actuators are combined with permanent magnets and coils to adjust air bearing clearance by controlling magnetic force actively. Each of the magnetic actuators has a permanent magnet generating nominal magnetic flux for required preload and a coil to perturb the magnetic force resulting adjustment of air-bearing clearance. The characteristics of porous aerostatic bearing are analyzed by numerical analysis, and analytic magnetic circuit model is driven for magnetic actuator to calculate nominal preload and variation of force due to current. A 1-axis linear stage motorized with a coreless linear motor and a linear encoder is built for verifying this design concept. With the active magnetic preloading actuators controlled with DSP board and PWM power amplifiers, the active on-line adjusting tests about the vertical, pitching and rolling motion were performed, and the result shows very good linearity.

  • Ultra precision processing technology is the field which is seriously protected its technology by advanced nations. Because of this reason, this technology is very difficult to supply for domestic companies, also domestic companies are revealed the limit of technology development by itself. And then, those are depend on the technology development of advanced nation, domestic companies are not conquer application step with already developed parts. Of course, some cases of its research are succeed. those are included element technology, system technology and so on, for development of ultra precision processing system. To conquer technology holding ultra precision processing accuracy of no level, active research are needed. In this paper, stability of ultra precision cutting unit is analyzed, this unit is the kernel unit in ultra precision processing machine. According to alteration of shape and material about hinge, stability investigation is performed Through this stability investigation, trial and error is reduced in design and manufacture, at the same time, we are accumulated foundation data for un it control.
