A Rank-based Similarity Measure for Collaborative Filtering Systems (협력 필터링 시스템을 위한 순위 기반의 유사도 척도)

  • Collaborative filtering is a methodology to recommend websites by obtaining data and opinions from the other users with similar tastes. During the past few years, this method has been used in various fields such as books, food, and movies in e-commerce systems. This study addresses the computation of similarity between users to determine items to be recommended in collaborative filtering systems. Previous studies measured similarity between users by treating each user's ratings independently without considering the distribution of the user's ratings. In contrast, this study measures similarity by utilizing position and rank information of each rating in the range of the user's ratings. The result of the experiments on the real datasets demonstrated that the proposed method improves the mean absolute error significantly, compared to the previous methods, especially when the predetermined range of ratings is large.

Fringe Sensitivity of Projection Moire Topography Due to Position of Light Source and Object Distance According to Grating Periods (영사식 무아레 토포그래피에서 격자 주기에 따른 물체거리와 광원의 위치에 대한 무늬 민감도 변화)

  • In projection moire topography, the investigation of fringe sensitivity, which means the change rate of fringe order according to object height, is important and necessary to reduce the measurement error of the shape of an object. Using the fringe sensitivity, the determination of the absolute orders of moire fringes can be performed very easily and rapidly. The important parameters in the determination of absolute orders of fringes are the positions of light source and object, and the grating period in projection moire topography. Among these parameters, the fringe sensitivity due to the transverse motion of the light source and the longitudinal motion of the object according to grating periods are analyzed and compared. As a result, whereas the fringe sensitivity in the transverse-motion method increases linearly and gradually as the distance between light source and imaging sensor increases, the fringe sensitivity due to the longitudinal-motion method decreases dramatically as the distance between imaging lens and object increases. In these methods, the fringe sensitivity and its change increase as the grating period increases.

  • Map Matching is the method for correcting the current position from dead reckoning in Car Navigation System. In this paper, we proposed the new map matching algorithm that can correct the positioning error caused by sensors and digital map data around the cross road area. To do this, first we set the error boundary of the cross road area by combining the relative error of moving distance and the absolute error of road length, second, we find out the starting point of turning within the determined error boundary of the cross point area, third, we compare the turning angle of the car to the angle of each possible road, and the last, we decide the matched road. We used wheel sensor as a speed sensor and used optical fiber gyro as a directional sensor, and assembled the sensors to the notebook computer. We testified our algorithm by driving the Daejeon area-which is a part of south Korea-as a test area. And we proved the efficiency by doing that.

  • The Long Range Navigation (LORAN) had been mainly used world-wide until GPS (Global Positioning System) activation. In particular. it was essential junctionality for the ships to sail the oceans. However, according to the industry's developing, the current accuracy of Loran is insufficient for the utilization such as the harbour approach, the land navigation and the field of precise timing. Therefore it is necessary the study on the improvement of the positioning accuracy of Loran. The method of its improvement is to measure and compensate the propagation time delay, that is, additional secondary factor (ASF) between the transmitter and user's receiver. This study shows the technique for the absolute time delay measurement without a time of coincidence (TOC) table, and represents the ASF measurement result between Pohang transmitter station(9930M) and each measure points.

A Study on Utilization 3D Shape Pointcloud without GCPs using UAV images (UAV 영상을 이용한 무기준점 3D 형상 점군데이터 활용 연구)

  • Recently, many studies have examined UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), which can replace and supplement existing surveying sensors, systems, and images. This study focused on the use of UAV images and assessed the possibility of utilization in areas where it is difficult to obtain GCPs (ground control points), such as disasters. Therefore, 3D (dimensional) pointcloud data were generated using UAV images and the absolute/relative accuracy of the generated model data using GCPs and without GCPs was assessed. The results showed the 3D shape pointcloud generated by UAV image matching was proven if the relative accuracy was set, regardless of whether GCPs were used or not; the quantitative measurement error rate was within 1%. Even if the absolute accuracy was low, the 3D shape pointcloud that had been post processed quickly was sufficient to be utilized when it is impossible to acquire GCPs or urgent analysis is required. In particular, the results can obtain quantitative measurements and meaningful data, such as the length and area, even in cases with the ground reference point surveying and post-process.

Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy for Early Glottic Cancer - Preliminary Results - (초기 성문암 환자에서의 소분할 조사법을 이용한 방사선치료 - 예비적 결과 -)

  • Purpose : This study was peformed for the evaluation of the feasibility and toxicity of hypofractionated radiation therapy for early glottic cancer Methods and Materials : From February 1999 to February 2000, 20 patients with Histologically confirmed Stage I, II glottic cancer were enrolled into this study. There were 18 males and 2 females, the median age of the patients was 59 years. The distribution of stage distribution was as fellows; T1aN0-16 patients, T1bN0-1 patient, T2N0-3 patients. Eighteen patients underwent laryngomicroscopic biopsy only, and two patients underwent laser cordectomy. All patients received radical radiation therapy (2.5 Gy per fraction, 24 fractions, total 60 Gy). Median duration of treatment was 36 days (range $31\~45\;days$). Results : Radiation therapy were well tolerated. Most common acute reactions were odynophagia and hoarseness, and these reactions resolved after radiation therapy. There were one case of RTOG grade 3 odynophagia $(5\%)$, six cases of grade 3 hoarseness $(30\%)$. Response of radiation therapy was evaluated one month after completion of treatment. All patients revealed complete response. During follow up, total three cases of treatment failure were detected. two cases were local recurrence in 10 and 13 months of radiation therapy and one case was local recurrence and distant metastasis in 2 months of radiation therapy. Conclusion : This hypofractionated radiation therapy schedule was feasible and effective for control of early glottic cancer But longer follow up time would be required to assess the long-term disease control and the late complication by shortening radiation therapy duration.

The Effect of Uncertainty in Roughness and Discharge on Flood Inundation Mapping (조도계수와 유량의 불확실성이 홍수범람도 구축에 미치는 영향)

  • The accuracy of flood inundation maps is determined by the uncertainty propagated from all variables involved in the overall process including input data, model parameters and modeling approaches. This study investigated the uncertainty arising from key variables (flow condition and Manning's n) among model variables in flood inundation mapping for the Missouri River near Boonville, Missouri, USA. Methodology of this study involves the generalized likelihood uncertainty estimation (GLUE) to quantify the uncertainty bounds of flood inundation area. Uncertainty bounds in the GLUE procedure are evaluated by selecting two likelihood functions, which is two statistic (inverse of sum of squared error (1/SAE) and inverse of sum of absolute error (1/SSE)) based on an observed water surface elevation and simulated water surface elevations. The results from GLUE show that likelihood measure based on 1/SSE is more sensitive on observation than likelihood measure based on 1/SAE, and that the uncertainty propagated from two variables produces an uncertainty bound of about 2% in the inundation area compared to observed inundation. Based on the results obtained form this study, it is expected that this study will be useful to identify the characteristic of flood.

  • For the QA of IMRT treatment of head and neck cancer by using M3 (BrainLAB Inc. Germany), it is not easy to measure delivery dose exactly because the dose attenuation appears by the couch according to the position of table and gantry. In order to solve this problem, we fabricated head and neck phantom which would be implemented on the couch mount of Brain Lab Inc. We investigated dose attenuation by the couch and found the difference of dose distribution by the couch, in the applying this phantom to the clinic. After measurement, we found that point dose attenuation was 35% at maximum and dose difference was 5.4% for a point dose measurement of actual patient quality assurance plan.

Ambient CO2 Measurement Using Raman Lidar (라만 라이다를 이용한 대기 중 이산화탄소 혼합비 측정)

  • We, for the first time, developed a Raman lidar system which can remotely detect surface CO2 volume mixing ratio (VMR). The Raman lidar system consists of the Nd: YAG laser of wavelength 355 nm with 80 mJ, an optical receiver, and detectors. Indoor CO2 cell measurements show that the accuracy of the Raman lidar system is calculated to be 99.89%. We carried out the field measurement using our Raman lidar at Pukyong National University over a seven-day period in October 2019. The results show good agreement between CO2 VMRs measured by the Raman lidar (CO2 Raman Lidar) and those measured by in situ instruments (CO2 In situ) which located 300 m and 350 m away from the Raman lidar system. The correlation coefficient (R), mean absolute error (MAE), and root mean square error (RMSE) between CO2 In situ and CO2 Raman Lidar are 0.67, 2.78 ppm, and 3.26 ppm, respectively.

Opticla Angle Sensor Using Pseudorandom-code And Geometry-code (슈도 랜덤 코드와 기하학 코드를 이용한 광학적 Angle Sensor)

  • Absolute optical angle sensor is described that is an essentially digital opto-electronic device. Its purpose is to resolve the relative and absolute angle position of coded disk using Pseudorandom-code and Geometry-code. In this technique, the angular position of disk is determined in coarse sense first by Pseudorandom-code. A further fine angular position data based on Pixel count is obtained by Geometry-code which result 0.006$^{\circ}$ resolution of the system provided that 7 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ line image sensor are used. The proposed technique is novel in a number of aspects, such that it has the non-contact reflective nature, high resolution of the system, relatively simple code pattern, and inherent digital nature of the sensor. And what is more the system can be easily modified to torque sensor by applying two coded disks in a manner that observe the difference in absolute angular displacement. The digital opto-electronic nature of the proposed sensor, along with its reporting of both torque and angle, makes the system ideal for use in intelligent vehicle systems. In this communication, we propose a technique that utilizes Pseudorandom-code and Geometry-code to determine accurate angular position of coded disk. We present the experimental results to demonstrate the validity of the idea.
