  • In this study we examined the method to select the size of the conductor rail for light rail system. Study results shows that using the conductor rail with lower resistivity requires fewer power substation, which results in lower construction cost. It also produces less copper loss. Therefore first choose the conductor rail with lowest resistivity and select the substation location, Next conduct computer simulation study to confirm it meets voltage requirement. if the minimum voltage is well above the required minimum voltage, substation number can probably be further reduced.

  • This paper estimates line constants of equivalent five-conductors model by using the reduced equivalent method. Actually, the catenary system is considered by the equivalent five-conductors model in the electrical aspect. Therefore, we should compose the catenary system of the equivalent five-conductors model. And then we calculate line constants of this equivalent five-conductors model. This paper shows the reducing process about the real system of the field by using the proposed theory and also line constants of reduced system

  • Dropper which can get to suspend contact wire should be installed with a uniform distribution, so that electric locomotive can have good characteristics of current collection. Because dropper distribution is changed according to a circumstances in the construction field, it is hard to calculate and construct a overhead line. Therefore, in this study, a program was developed to calculate the dropper length in the normal and elevation section. Through the program, it is possible to perform a accurate construction of overhead line and contribute to a improvement of current collection as well.

  • Winter weather condition can cause icing and ice coats on 25 kV overhead contact wire. This generates shocks at the mechanical interface of the collecting strips of the pantograph and the contact wire and extra electrical resistance, which may affect quality of current collection at the contact wire / collecting strips of pantograph interface. De-icing operations should he performed just before train operation to avoid the formation of another ice layer. Thus, the work in this paper is investigation and analysis of de-icing system which could be applied to the electric car line of railways.

  • In this thesis, As electric railway vehicle's speed becomes faster and faster and functional, the conditions of operation (or running condition) of the vehicle also become complicated and diverse. As the number of electric vehicle increases by enhancement of the running condition, problems are also raised in circulation current, vibration and unstable contact caused by equipment(sporting part for making horizontal between Trolley wire and Messenger wire) and troubles in Ark by un secure contact. This articles shows a method to prevent or to have least problem of vibration, and unstable contact by having constant height of Trolley wire through adjusting the length of Hanger.

Characteristics of Current Collection Signals during Test Run of High-speed Train (주행 중 발생하는 고속전철 집전계 신호의 특성)

  • The dynamic characteristics of the current collection process of the high-speed railway are investigated through signals acquired during a test run. The signals are obtained from accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges attached to various positions of the pantograph, and they are processed in time-and frequency-domains to obtain the dynamic characteristics. The main natural frequency of the pantograph is found to be 8.5Hz. There also are components at low frequencies varying linearly with the train speed. The contact frequency components above 20Hz is attenuated as they pass through the secondary suspension. The main frequency component of the load cell signal is found to be related with the rolling motion of the panhead generated by the stagger in the catenary.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of a high-speed (200[km/h]) Linear Synchronous Motor which will be used as a propulsion system of a dynamic tester for catenary-current collection used in railways. Motor performance, especially detent force minimization on various design schemes has been investigated in detail by using FEM (Finite Element Method). Simulation-based DOE (Design of Experiments) method is also applied in order to reduce the large number of analysis according to each design variable and consider the effect among variables. The optimal design in all aspects is proposed by an optimization algorithm using a regression equation derived from the simulation-based DOE and the performance is verified by FEM.

  • In electric railway, image monitoring using high speed camera provides reliable, timely information of wear and geometry status, important in taking decisions for overhead contact wire maintenance. The contribution of this research is the development of a simple real-time monitoring system for use in measurement subsystem of contact wire and geometry of overhead contact wire in electric railway. The system has been consists of a high speed CMOS camera with resolution $1024{\times}1280$ pixels, line type laser source and PC-based image acquisition system with PCI Express slot. Vision acquisition software have been used in application programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling of 500 acquisitions per second.

  • This paper presents exact Autotransformers(ATs)-fed AC electric Railroad system modeling using constant current mode far locomotives. An AC electric railroad system is rapidly changing single-phase load, and at a feeding substation, 3-phase electric power is transferred to paired directional single-phase electric power. As the train moves along a section of line between two adjacent ATs. The proposed AC electric railroad system modeling method considers the line self-impedances and mutual-impedances. The constant current mode model objectives are to calculate the catenary and rail voltages with the loop equation. When there are more than one train in the AC electric railroad system, the principle of superposition applies and the only difference between the system analyses for one train. Finally, this paper shows the general equation of an AC electric railroad system, and that equation has no relation with trains number, trains position, and feeding distance.

  • The research sees the catenary dropper clamp using a test equipment which is using actual sample in the field. This test helps the quality improvement of material. For raising the reliability of data, classified it by type and tests especially in the multiple sample but it was under testing in the sample of decimal at circumstance. From the accuracy side of research data it was insufficient because the dropper clamp was in small quantity but it contributes in quality of material improvement. The quality of material data which it gets with spectroscopic was not accurate so hereafter it needs to follow wet analysis and precise analysis to join in the test which is detailed comes to accomplish with the data accuracy.
