This is a case report of a 5-month-old male who was brought in to hospital for evaluation of jaundice from birth. The baby had a history of ileal atresia operated 2 days after birth. At the age of one month, Tc-99m DISIDA hepatobiliary scintigraphy was performed at other hospital and reported to show good hepatic uptake of the tracer but no uptake in the biliary tree, gall bladder, or intestine for 24 hours post injection. He was judged to have biliary atresia. However, subsequent exploratory laparotomy revealed that the hepatobiliary tree appeared intact and that there was a gall bladder. Additionally, the patient had central aorto-pulmonary shunt for the right ventricular septal defect with pulmonary stenosis of a peripheral type at the age of 4 months. The second hepatobiliary scintigraphy was performed on admission at the age of 5 months, showing a gall bladder but no intestinal uptake up to 24 hours. Retrospectively, the histological specimen of the liver obtained at the exploratory laparotomy was re-evaluated, and by the histological findings coupled with clinical data, arteriohepatic dysplasia (Alagille's syndrome) was diagnosed. In this report, we emphasize the diagnostic limitation of hepatobiliary scintigraphy and the importance of overall clinical and histologic evaluation in a case of Alagille's syndrome.
U-turns are allowed widely at the intersections by local police department while the left-turn Phases have been gradually Prohibited. However, any strategies for U-turn movements at signalized intersections are unavailable. Therefore, the Purpose of this study is to Propose the efficient operational method of Urban arterial adopting U-turn strategies. Four alternatives are evaluated they are, 1) U-turn movements are allowed at the adjacent intersection with exclusive U-turn lane while the major or the minor approach is Prohibited, 2) U-turn movements are allowed at the adjacent mid-block Pedestrian crossing with exclusive U-turn lane while the major approach is Prohibited. 3) U-turn movements are allowed at the adjacent mid-block Pedestrian crossing with exclusive U-turn lane while the minor approach is prohibited and 4) Comparative one between alternative 3 and 4. From the results of this study, it concludes that the method of U-turn movements allowed at the adjacent mid-block pedestrian crossing with exclusive U-turn lane is the most effective strategy among those alternatives. The strategies of alternative 1 and 4 are Proposed by the boundary based on the major through and left-turn volumes and the minor left-turn volume.

The pupose of this study was to identify the material characteristics, firing environments and making techniques for the jar coffins from the Oryangdong kiln site and the Ungokdong tomb site in Naju. All jar coffins had very similar physical, mineralogical and geochemical characteristics, although it was excavated from the different sites. The wall thickness of the jar coffins was about 2.3 to 5.3 cm. Under the microscopy, the jar coffins include a large quantity of various quartz with some microcrystalline and showed partly orthoclase and biotite. It is presumed that the mineral sherds added to maintain the thick wall and to control the percentage of contraction during drying and firing of jar coffins and it has contained about 11.4 to 19.8 %. Firing temperature of the jar coffins is estimated as 1,000 to $1,150^{\circ}C$. Also, all jar coffins and soils show similar geochemical behavior of elements and clay-mineralization degree within the site. This indicates making that the soil is probable to be a raw material of the jar coffins. But it shows different characteristics in major elements of soils which is collected at the kiln floor and the trench region of the Oryangdong kiln site because of the lack of quartz and feldspar in the soils. Therefore, it can use of the jar coffins making clay, if it goes through a simple special process such as mixing temper.
This study analyzed the groundwater quality according to the depth and geological features in Gyeongsangnam-do area using groundwater quality monitoring network data to grasp the groundwater quality characteristics and to provide basic data for policy making on efficient groundwater management. Five hundred and three data sets were acquired from background water quality exclusive monitoring network in soil groundwater information system for five years (2013 ~ 2017). Except for the total coliforms and tracer items such as mercury, phenol, and others, the parameters of water quality were significant or very significant, depending on depth and geological features. As the depth got deeper, the average value of pH and electrical conductivity increased; water temperature, dissolved oxygen, oxide reduction potential, arsenic, total coliforms, and turbidity decreased; and total unfit rate for drinking water standards was lower. It was found that the sum of the positive and negative ions was the highest in the clastic sedimentary rock and the lowest in metamorphic rock. The total unfit rate for drinking water standards was the highest for metamorphic rocks, followed by clastic sedimentary rock and unconsolidated sediments and, finally, intrusive igneous rock with the lowest penetration. The Na-Cl water type, which indicated the possibility of contamination by external pollutants, appeared only at some points in shallow depths and in clastic sedimentary rocks.
This study analyzed the groundwater quality characteristics according to the main source of pollution and quarter (season) by using data from the pollution exclusive monitoring network in the Gyeongsangnam-do area for five years (2013-2017). The main source of pollution was the industrial complex areas, waste mines, and sewage treatment facilities. The analysis items were field measurement items (water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, oxide reduction potential), positive ions, and negative ions. Water temperature and pH did not vary significantly according to the main source of pollution. In industrial complex areas, the value of electrical conductivity was the highest, and dissolved oxygen value was the lowest. The mean concentration of positive and negative ions was the largest in industrial complex areas, followed by sewage treatment facilities and waste mines. It was shown that the concentration of sodium ion was the highest in industrial complex areas and calcium ion in waste mines and sewage treatment facilities. The concentration of bicarbonate ion was the highest in all main sources of pollution. Water temperature, pH, and concentrations of cations and anions did not vary significantly from quarter to quarter. Of the water quality types, the Na-HCO3 type accounted for the highest proportion, but the Na-Cl type, which has a high possibility of external contamination, accounted for about 20% of the total data in the pollution exclusive monitoring network.
This study was wanted to confirm ability for UV blocking according to its material. The lenses materials were Acryl, CR-39, NK-55, and MR-8. It was grouped: Group A consisting of anti-scratch hard coated lenses and anti-refractive multi coated lenses, Group B added UV blocking coating on the group A, and Group C consisting of only UV blocking lenses. The results measured UV transmittance, On the UV-A wavelength, Group A showed the UV transmittance of 7.726%, 0.043%, 0.007%, and 0.007% respectively. Group B showed 0.038%, 0.037%, 0.007%, and 0.007%, respectively. The UV-blocking performance of CR-39 has been greatly improved. Group C has shown the best UV blocking function; only 0.005% and 0.004% of UV transmittances.(1.60 and 1.67 index of refraction respectively). For the low power of lenses and sunglasses, the CR-39 lens is the most used. Therefore, to UV blocking from the lens, new materials or UV absorbers or UV coating technology and development of Converged Technologies are required.
In this study, biodiversity was classified as 4 sectors (genes, species, ecosystems, and cultures) and overall 14 indicators were subdivided by the classification criterion of 4 sectors. Among those 14 indicators, monetary evaluation was conducted for 11 indicators that can be quantified in economic perspectives. Results show that negative economy effects (forest degradation, forest fire, forest damage caused by diseases and insects, deforestation, and cost under the assumption with the adoption of the Nagoya Protocol to be compensated for traditional knowledge) by reducing forest biodiversity were evaluated as 254.5 billion won annually. Also, Bioindustry, indigenous species, forest production, protection area, and income associated with mountain village were considered as positive economy effects and their annual economic value was 6.72 trillion won. Net annual benefit by maintaining forest biodiversity was about 6.5 trillion won.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the complex fertilizers containing polyaspartic acid (PAA) on growth and $CH_4$ emission in rice field and optimum application rate of the fertilizer compared to the standard recommended application rate (control). The PAA-containing complex fertilizers (PCF) were applied at 55, 65 and 75% levels of standard recommended application rate (control). The application rate of PAA in the plot of every PCF treatment was 150g ai/10a. The PCF was applied as a basal dressing without topdressing at tillering stage. The growth parameters of rice and its nitrogen use efficiency treated with PCF at a 65 to 75% level were not different compared with those of control, and the rice yield was also not significantly different between PCF at a 65 to 75% level and control during 2 years(2010~2011) field experiment. And the $NH_4$-N content in soil was not affected by 65% to 75% level of PCF treatment. Considering overall research results such as rice yield and growth parameters PCF is not significantly different with the control and the optimum application rate of the PCF as a basal fertilization was determined to be 65~75% of the standard application rate based on the result in rice cultivation. Moreover, $CH_4$ emission rate was significantly reduced by PCF treatments, showing 216 kg and 229 kg $CH_4/ha$ at 65% and 75% PCF treatment level, respectively, compared to 266 kg $CH_4/ha$ of the control.
An Altitude Engine Test Facility(AETF) was built at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute in October 1999 and has been being operated for altitude testing of the gas turbine engines of 3,000 Ibf class or less. The AETF has been calibrated using several engines such as J69 engine of Teledyne Co. as a facility checkout engine. Based on the test results, uncertainty analyses on the air flow rate and thrust were performed according to ASME PTC 19.1-1998. As the analyses showed that the level of uncertainty was not satisfactory over the whole operating envelop, several modifications of the facility and testing method were made in order to improve the measurement uncertainty. As a result, the uncertainty of the air flow measurement was improved by 0.1 % over all the test conditions, and the net thrust measurement by upto 3%. The improved measurement uncertainties of air flow and thrust are 0.68-0.73% and 0.4-1.3%, respectively.
