A Study on Space Utilization by Programs of Convention and Exhibition Facilities in Korea - Focusing on convention and exhibition facilities in large cities of Korea - (국내 전시컨벤션 시설의 프로그램에 따른 공간 활용에 관한 연구 - 국내 대도시의 전시컨벤션 시설을 중심으로 -)

  • The study performed analysis focusing on specialized convention and exhibition facilities among convention and exhibition facilities in Korea. The procedures and results were as follows: First, by theoretical consideration, meaning and contents of convention and exhibition programs done in convention and exhibition facilities were considered and after that, general characteristics of the programs which were the main of space utilization was derived. Second, considering scale and location, 6 facilities were re-selected for in-depth research from 12 facilities investigated preliminarily. Selected facilities were categorized by scale and through the analysis of programs done in this facilities for the last 1 year, overview and characteristics of utilization for exhibition space, conference space, and multi-purpose space, etc were analyzed. Third, through the case study on the programs, individual characteristics of space utilization by convention and exhibition program were analyzed. From the result of the study, considering the whole, the space utilization of programs was done as conference space rather than exhibition space and the ratio of use as conference space to use as exhibition space was 1.8 in the large facilities, 6.7 and 7.6 in the middle facilities and the small facilities, respectively. In the middle and small facilities, the ratio of use of one room as conference space was very high. In the large facilities, there was no big difference with the ratio 50:50 of the programs involving exhibition to other programs, but in the middle and small facilities, the ratio of the former to the latter was observed over 2.4 and 3.6. This fact indicated that the function of use as promotion and communication space for companies and industrial entities which were the essential purposes became low.

  • This research aims to identify spatial features of exhibition hall for trade fair and establish a theoretical model on the effects of these features on the visitor attitudes. Also, it seeks to make suggestions on the service for exhibition environment or marketing activities through empirical analysis. The survey for this research was conducted for one week from Oct. 28 to Nov. 5, 2016 at COEX in Seoul. The 320 questionnaires were distributed to the visitors of the survey period, and all of the questionnaires were returned. Excluding those considered meaningless due to a small number of answered questions, a total of 303 samples were used for empirical analysis. The empirical analysis was conducted through SPSS 24.0. The results showed that each element of spatial features of the exhibition hall has significant effects on the visitor intuitive attitude. On the other hand, only Aesthetic and Convenience of spatial features of the exhibition hall has significant effects on the visitor conative attitude As above, this research conducted empirical researches on the effects of spatial features on visitor attitudes at exhibition hall to provide guidelines for establishing strategic management schemes of exhibition space that provide more convenient and pleasant environment. Also, this research aims to suggest development directions for organizer to provide quality service and environment, turning them into comfortable spaces that communicate with the visitors.

  • This study was to investigate convention service quality that affect convention destination visiting values and intention to behavior from foreign convention attendances' perspectives. From the literature review, convention service quality and destination visiting value were discussed to provide logical linkage among proposed concepts. A total of 308 useful date were collected from on site survey at the convention centers in Seoul. Factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed to achieve the objective of this study. Factor analysis showed that there were four underlying dimensions in the convention service quality such as mutual human interaction, program quality, useful information, transportation and convenient facility. Multiple regression showed that these convention service quality affects destination visiting values and behavior intention. More discussion and implication are provided in the conclusion section.

  • MICE industry is emerging as a new growth engine recently. Most of the domestic MICE events are carried out at low cost on a small scale. The event organizers want to cut down on costs of prints such as brochures and other promotional printed materials, as well as the personnel costs for the simple guide job needed on site, which are generated repeatedly and wastefully. The existing mobile web has a defect that the participants can't easily earn the information in the fixed menu, but have to search by themselves wasting lots of time. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the solution enables providing information efficiently at low cost for short-term use during the events. In this study, we implemented specific total management system for exhibitions and convention using beacon. The information system for exhibitions and events using beacon can raise the management efficiency, and the digital brochure function based on CMS heightens the information retrieval ability and also reduces costs. Organizers can manage their event efficiently in a small exhibition and convention event by running an online website and operate a site management system by them selves.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that constitute the memorable tourism experiences and to grasp the influence relationship between the memorable tourism experience and the tourism destination brand equity and the loyalty of the tourism destination.   • This study is about the exhibition and convention visitors' satisfaction level and the participating companies' perception on the performance. The two topics were approached with integrated model. Accordingly, this study examined how service quality and experiential quality affect exhibition and convention visitors' satisfaction level and the participating companies' perception on the performance, and how the correlation between exhibition and convention visitors' satisfaction level and the participating companies' perception on the performance is affected. The result demonstrates that the quality of experience exerts positive effect on the visitors' sense of satisfaction(Hypothesis 3), while service quality is not statistically significant when it comes to the visitors' satisfaction(Hypothesis 1). When the correlation between service quality and experiential quality, and the participating companies' perception on the performance is examined, service quality exerts positive effect on the participating companies' perception on the performance(Hypothesis 2), while experiential quality is not statistically significant on the participating companies' perception on the performance(Hypothesis 4), When the correlation between exhibition and convention visitors' satisfaction level and the participating companies' perception on the performance is examined, it was shown that positive effect is exerted just like the results of the previous studies(Hypothesis 5), lastly, correlation between participating companies' perception on the performance, companies' satisfaction and company loyalty was examined. In case of the participating companies' perception on the performance, it exerts positive effect on the companies' satisfaction(Hypothesis 6), while company loyalty is not statistically significant (Hypothesis 7). In case of companies' satisfaction, it exerts positive effect on the company loyalty (Hypothesis 8). The results of this study will provide help to increase overall understanding of the exhibition and convention visitors' satisfaction level and the participating companies' perception on the performance, and to provide important implications for the development of strategy for exhibition and convention's vitalization.

First, we propose service function, service process, and relationships between participants to give shape to the service model.   • This study aims to examine how attendees' motivation of convention & exhibition visitors on their satisfaction, revisit and recommendation intention. It is also another goal of this study to provide strategic materials through making out preventive measures against the convention & exhibition. To accomplish the goals, a field survey was conducted on the visitors of the COEX in Seoul area. The results of this study, based on a positive analysis, could be summarized as follows. First, the knowledge seek, friendly relations, deviation ure and area characteristic turned out to have affirmative effects on convention & exhibition visitors on their satisfaction. Second, the knowledge seek, friendly relations and area characteristic turned out to have affirmative effects on convention & exhibition visitors on their revisit intention. Third, the knowledge seek, friendly relations and deviation ure turned out to have affirmative effects on convention & exhibition visitors on their recommendation intention. Fourth, the satisfaction turned out to have affirmative effects on their revisit and recommendation intention.

  • This study aims to examine the effect of the physical environment of exhibition/convention centers on customers' satisfaction, worth of mouth and revisit intention. Some useful strategic materials derived from this study could be considerably useful to the managers of exhibition/convention centers. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the key elements which can decide the quality of the physical environment of exhibition/convention centers are accessibility, cleanness and convenience. Second, the perceived physical environment makes a positive influence on customers' satisfaction. Third, the more satisfaction the customers can perceive, the higher rises the worth of mouth. Fourth, the more satisfaction the customers can perceive, the higher rises the revisit intention.
