Study on Energy Efficient Mobility-MAC Protocol for Underwater Networks (수중통신망에서 노드 이동성을 고려한 에너지 효율적인 매체접속제어 프로토콜 연구)

  • Due to difficulties of continuous electric power provision to underwater communication nodes, the efficient power usage is highly required in underwater network protocol. In this paper, we studied the energy efficient MAC(Medium Access Control) protocol for underwater network supporting mobile nodes such as UUV(Unmanned Underwater Vehicle) and AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). The mobile nodes could waste the electric power in vain when the receiver moves out of the radio propagation coverage during the data exchange and thus the transmitted data fails in reaching the receiver. Expecially, such a failure is much more obvious in underwater acoustic channels since the propagation delay is about $10^5$ times slower than in terrestrial radio channels. This proposed mobility-MAC controls the data dropping stochastically in the Dropping Zone by considering the receiver's location and moving velocity. In conclusion, this selective dropping method not only improves latency and throughput by reducing invalid droppings but also boosts power efficiency by valid droppings.

Cooperative Transmission Protocol based on Opportunistic Incremental Relay Selection over Rayleigh fading channels (레일리 페이딩 채널 상에서 기회주의적 증분형 중계기 선택 기법을 기반으로 한 협력 전송 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we firstly propose a novel cooperative transmission protocol, which utilizes the advantages of mid-notes in the route from the source to the destination. Taking benefits from balancing between the received packet from the source and acknowledge message from the destination, the mid-node between the source and the destination is firstly considered to be the broadcaster. If its signal is successfully received from the source, it leads to consider the next nodes, which has closer distance to the destination than it. If one of these nodes correctly receives the signal, it performs broadcasting the signal to the destination instead of mid-node. Otherwise, the mid-node directs attention to these nodes being near to the destination. As the result, some nodes are unnecessary to be considered and passed over time. After that, we analyze some published selection relaying schemes based on geographic information to choose the best nodes instead of the instantaneous SNR as before. Finally, simulation results are given to demonstrate the correctness of the performance analyses and show the significant improvement of the selection relaying schemes based geographic information compared to the other ones.

Development and Verification of Digital EEG Signal Transmission Protocol (디지털 뇌파 전송 프로토콜 개발 및 검증)

  • This paper presents the implementation result of the EEG(electroencephalogram) signal transmission protocol and its test platform. EEG measured by a dry-type electrode is directly converted into digital signal by ADC(analog-to-digital converter). Thereafter it is transferred DSP(digital signal processor) platform by $I^2C$(inter-integrated circuit) protocol. DSP conducts the pre-processing of EEG and extracts feature vectors of EEG. In this work, we implement the $I^2C$ protocol with 16 channels by using 10 or 12-bit ADC. In the implementation results, the overhead ratio for the 4 bytes data burst transmission measures 2.16 and the total data rates are 345.6 kbps and 414.72 kbps with 10-bit and 12-bit 1 ksps ADC, respectively. Therefore, in order to support a high speed mode of $I^2C$ for 400 kbps, it is required to use 16:1 and $(8:1){\times}2$ ratios for slave:master in 10-bit ADC and 12-bit ADC, respectively.

  • The demand for multimedia transmission in wireless networking is rapidly increasing. Performance evaluation in the CDMA system has been carried out on the voice-oriented system without re-transmission or buffering. We propose a multimedia access protocol with buffering and ARQ which can meet a variety of QoS requirements. We study the effect of buffering in MC-CDMA(Multi-Code CDMA) and design a dynamic rate control algorithms, whose simulation shows the efficiency of MC-CDMA.

  • 본 논문은 반도체 장비 및 디스플레이 장비에서 적용되는 네트워크 통신 규약인 SECS 통신 프로토콜을 TCP/IP 소켓 프로그램을 이용하여 구현한다. 특히 호스트와 장비간의 통신에 문제가 발생하여 데이터 전송이 누락되었을 때 이를 장비에 보관한 후에 통신이 복구되었을 때 다시 호스트에게 전송할 수 있는 스풀링 기능을 구현하여 통신장애의 누락되는 데이터를 다시 전송할 수 있도록 한다. 그리고 윈도우 프로그램을 기반으로 하나의 드라이버 프로그램에서 호스트(액티브) 측과 장비(패시브) 측을 선택하여 사용 가능하게 구현한다.

Perfectly Secure Communication protocol Drected Networks (방향 네트웍에서 안전한 통신 프로토콜)

  • 본 논문에서는 방향 네트웍에서 안전한 통신 프로토콜을 연구한다. 본 논문은 Dolev 등의 방법[6]을 따라 일반적인 네트웍을 한 쌍의 전송자와 수신자가 여러개의 채널을 통해 연결되어 있는 모델로 단순화한다. Dolov 등은 채널이 모두 양방향이거나 또는 방향이 ? 전송자에서 수신자인 경우만 다루었으나 여기서는 양방향과 단방향 채널이 동시에 존재하는 경우를 다룬다. 단방향 채널에는 전송자에서 수신자로의 방향 뿐만아니라 그 역방향으로만 통신이 가능한 채널도 포함된다. 본 논문은 정보이론적으로 안전한 통신이 가능하기 위한 필요충분조건을 구하고 효율적인 알고리즘을 제시한다. 이 알고리즘은 단순화한 모델에서의 채널을 정점분리 경로로 대응시켜 일반적인 방향 네트웍에서 적용될 수 있다.

MMT, UHDTV 서비스 제공에 최적화된 실시간/저지연 전송 프로토콜

  • 본고에서는 MPEG에서 설계하여 ISO 표준화한 실시간/저지연 미디어 전송 기술인 MMT (MPEG Media Transport) 에 대해 알아본다. MMT는 인터넷 환경과 통합된 차세대 방송 시스템에의 적용을 목표로 설계된 기술로, IP 기반 전송 프로토콜의 사용과 HTML5 기반 서비스 제공을 가정하여 MPEG2-TS의 장점을 계승하면서 이종망 및 다기기 서비스의 지원을 고려하여 설계 되었다. 따라서 MMT는 고품질의 UHD TV서비스를 안정적으로 제공함과 동시에 인터넷 활용 부가 서비스 제공을 목적으로 하는 차세대 지상파 방송에 있어 최적화된 표준 기술이라 할 수 있다.

A study on the performance improvement of GridFTP for high-performance data transfer (고성능고성능 데이터 전송을 위한 GridFTP 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • GridFTP는 광대역의 WAN 상에 최적화된 고성능의 안전하고 신뢰할 수 있는 데이터 전송 프로토콜이다. 본 논문에서는 다음과 같은 세가지 측면에서 GridFTP의 성능 향상을 도모하였다. 1) GridFTP 서버 측에서는 성능 향상을 위해 커먼드 파이프라이닝 기법을 제시하고, 2) GridFTP 클라이언트 측에서는 데이터 채널 재사용 기법을 제안하며. 3) GridFTP 프로토콜은 third-party maltitransfer 메커니즘을 지원하기 위하여 수정이 이루어겼다. 이러한 성능 향상 기법을 통하여 그리드 상에서 대규모 데이터의 효율적인 전송이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

An Approach to Improve the End-to-end Performance for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (이동 애드 혹 망을 위한 종단간의 성능 개선 방안)

  • In this paper, we make MAC protocol improvements for performance enhancement of multi-hop ad-hoc wireless networks. A node in ad-hoc wireless networks can transmit a packet only when the medium is available, and while a packet is being transmitted, no other nodes are allowed to transmit a packet if they are in carrier sensing range. Carrier sensing range can be divided into two disjoint areas of transmission range and carrier sensing zone(9), and we address the importance of the protocol behavior when a node is in carrier sensing zone. The characteristic of the carrier sensing zone is that a node can not know when the remaining time of the on-going transmission session expires or exactly when the media becomes available. Current MAC protocol does not behave in much different way between when a node is in transmission range and in carrier sensing zone. We have conducted a comprehensive simulation to study the performance improvements. The simulation results indicate that the performance is increased and the number of dropped packets due to collision is significantly reduced as much as a half.

UDT Parallel Transfer Technologies Adaptive to Network Status In High Speed Network (고속네트워크에서 네트워크 혼잡상태에 적응적인 UDT 병렬전송 기법)

  • With increasing transmission speed of backbone networks, it is getting to provide enough available bandwidth. However, the bandwidth is not effectively utilized in volumetric data transfer. This mainly comes from the transmission protocol, TCP, which is used for most applications. TCP is inherently difficult to adapt the available bandwidth because of it's own characteristic of transfer mechanism. UDT is a prominent application level data transfer protocol which is targeting high speed network. In this paper, we propose UDT parallel transfer technologies which is adaptive to network status and then evaluate their performance in two points of view. Firstly, we measure data transfer rate of UDT with rate congestion control methods, and compare them with basic UDT. Secondly, we apply parallel transfer technologies adapted to network status, and measure their performance. Experimental results showed that UDT rate congestion control method outperforms UDT with 106% improvement in RTT 100ms section set with jitter 30ms. In addition, performance of parallel transfer with rate congestion control method showed 107% improvement than that of parallel transfer in RTT 400ms section set with jitter 20ms.
