This study carried out shear experiment for concrete deep beam reinforced FRP(Fiber Reinforced Polymers) bar to investigate shear strength of deep beam. The test conducted for 15 specimens, and the variables were shear span-to-depth ratio, reinforcement ratio, effective depth, reinforcement components of shear strength. crack, deflection are investigated based on shear experimental. We compared shear strength using ACI 318-08 STM with proposed equations that considered arching action according to shear span-to-depth ratio. Consequently shear strength of deep beam reinforced FRP bar presented higher shear strength than steel bar. ACI STM's predictions are better accurate than other predicting equations.
The purpose of this study is to experimentally investigate the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams embedded with GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) plate with openings. In this study, the parameters include the shape of reinforcement, reinforcement area, and thickness and width of reinforcements. The test was performed on 9 specimens with shear spanto-depth ratio of 2.8. When the reinforcement area was varied, the GFRP plate showed 3.6 times greater shear strength than steel stirrup. The test result showed that shear strength increased as reinforcement area increased. Also, when the shape of a parallelogram GFRP plate was used, it showed higher shear strength than that with rectangular shape. Effect of thickness and width of reinforcement showed that shear capacity increased as width increased. For a comparison study, a calculation of the shear strength of reinforced beams with GFRP plate based on the ACI 318M-08 was compared with the test results. The test results were compared with the maximum shear reinforcement areas required by ACI 318M-08, CSA-04, and EC2-02 provision.

This paper predicted the shear deformation, such as strain of shear reinforcement and shear track width, of reinforced concrete (RC) members using Transformation Angle Truss Model (TATM) in order to apply to the shea, analysis of RC buildings. To check the validity of TATM for the shear deformation of RC beams, four RC beams with different shear span-to-depth ratios were cast, instrumented and tested. Observed results were compared with theoretical results by MCFT(Response-2000), RA-STM, FA-STM, and TATM. The proposed model, TATM, better predicted the relationships of the shear stress-strain of shear reinforcement and the shear stress-shear track width than other truss models.

The ultimate behavior of reinforced concrete corbel is complicated due to the primary design variables including the shear span-to-effective depth ratio a/d, flexural reinforcement ratio, load condition, and material properties. In this study, a simple indeterminate strut-tie model reflecting all characteristics of the ultimate strength and complicated structural behavior is proposed for the design of the reinforced concrete corbels with shear span-to-effective depth ratio of $a/d{\leq}1$. A load distribution ratio, defined as the fraction of applied load transferred by horizontal truss mechanism, is also proposed to help structural designers perform the design of reinforced concrete corbels by using the strut-tie model approaches of current design codes. For the development of the load distribution ratio, numerous material nonlinear finite element analyses of the proposed indeterminate strut-tie model were conducted by changing primary design variables. The ultimate strengths of reinforced concrete corbels tested to failure were evaluated by incorporating the proposed strut-tie model and load distribution ratio into the ACI 318-11's strut-tie model method. The validity of the proposed model and load distribution ratio was examined by comparing the strength analysis results with those by the ACI 318-11's conventional design method and strut-tie model methods of current design codes.

Recently, RC transfer slab systems have been used widely to construct high-rise wall-type apartments for securing parking space or public space. However, it is problem that the design method and structural performance evaluation method developed for thin RC flat slab are still used in the design of the transfer slab whose thickness is very thick and therefore structural behavior is expected to be different from RC flat slab. Thus, for the rational design of the transfer slab, the ultimate shear behavior of the RC transfer slab system is required to be analyzed properly. Accordingly, in the present study, the two-way shear behavior of the transfer slab was analyzed using nonlinear FEM according to various design parameters such as thickness of the transfer slab, strength of concrete, shear span ratio, and reinforcement ratio. In addition, the two-way shear strength evaluations of RC transfer slab by the existing evaluation methods were verified by comparing those with the results of nonlinear FEM analysis.

In this study, twenty four steel-fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams using recycled coarse aggregates (RCA) were manufactured to examine the shear behavior of SFRC and to determine the beams' ultimate shear strengths. The RCA replacement ratio was fixed at 30%. The variables studied in this investigation are: (1) shear span-to-depth ratios (a/d) of 2, 3 and 4; (2) longitudinal reinforcement ratio (${\rho}$) of 0.008 and 0.0127; and (3) steel fiber volume fractions ($V_f$) of 0, 0.5, 0.75 and 1%. Test results were analyzed and then compared with the findings and proposals of various other researchers. Based on the test results, the more steel fiber volume fraction is increased, the large crack resistance and shear strength are exhibited. Most of the experimental data is higher than the theoretical value. Therefore, steel-fiber reinforced concrete beams using recycled coarse aggregates are suggested to be applied for building structures.
A general earthquake resistant design philosophy of ductile frame buildings allows beams to form plastic hinges adjacent to beam-column connections. In order to carry out this design philosophy, the ultimate bond or shear strength of the beam should be greater than the flexural yielding force and should not degrade before reaching its required ductility. The behavior of RC members dominated by bond or shear action reveals a dramatic reduction of energy dissipation in the hysteretic response due to the severe pinching effects. In this study, a method was proposed to predict the deformability of reinforced concrete members with short-span-to-depth-ratios, which would result in bond failure after flexural yielding. Repeated or cyclic loading produces a progressive deterioration of bond that may lead to failure at lower cyclic bond stress levels. Accumulation of bond damage is caused by the propagation of micro-cracks and progressive crushing of concrete in front of the lugs. The proposed method takes into account bond deterioration due to the degradation of concrete in the post yield range. In order to verify bond deformability of the proposed method, the predicted results were compared with the experimental results of RC members reported in the technical literature. Comparisons between the observed and calculated bond deformability of the tested RC members showed reasonably good agreement.
The structural behavior of continuous reinforced concrete deep beams is mainly controlled by the mechanical relationships associated with the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, load and support conditions, and material properties. In this study, a simple indeterminate strut-tie model which reflects characteristics of the complicated structural behavior of the continuous deep beams is presented. In addition, the reaction and load distribution ratios defined as the fraction of load carried by an exterior support of continuous deep beam and the fraction of load transferred by a vertical truss mechanism, respectively, are proposed to help structural designers for the analysis and design of continuous reinforced concrete deep beams by using the strut-tie model approaches of current design codes. In the determination of the load distribution ratio, a concept of balanced shear reinforcement ratio requiring a simultaneous failure of inclined concrete strut and vertical steel tie is introduced to ensure a ductile shear failure of reinforced concrete deep beams, and the primary design variables including the shear span-to-effective depth ratio, flexural reinforcement ratio, and concrete compressive strength are implemented after thorough parametric numerical analyses. In the companion paper, the validity of the presented model and load distribution ratio was examined by applying them in the evaluation of the ultimate strength of multiple continuous reinforced concrete deep beams, which were tested to failure.

Currently in precast concrete construction, precast concrete and cast-in-place concrete with different concrete strengths are used. However, current design codes do not provide shear design methods for PC-CIP hybrid members using dual concrete strengths. In the present study, the shear strengths of beams using dual concrete compressive strengths (24 MPa, 60 MPa) were tested. The test variables were the area ratio of the two concretes, longitudinal bar ratio, and shear span-to-depth ratio. The shear strengths of test specimens were evaluated by current design methods, using an effective concrete strength (considering the area ratio of the two concrete strengths). The test result showed that when 60 MPa concrete was used in the compressive zone and the longitudinal bar ratio was low, the shear strengths of the test specimens were less than the predictions. On the basis of the results, design recommendations were provided for the shear design of the PC-CIP hybrid beams.
Flat plate structures subjected to lateral load have less deformability than conventional moment frames, due to the brittle failure of plate-column connection. In the present study, parametric study using nonlinear finite element analysis was performed to investigate the deformability of flat plates. The numerical results show that as number of continuous spans increases, the deformability of flat plates considerably decreases. Therefore, existing experiments using sub-assemblages with 1 or 2 spans may overestimate the deformability of flat plates, and current design provisions based on the experiments may not be accurate in estimating the deformability. A design method estimating the deformability was developed on the basis of numerical results, and verified by comparison with existing experiment. In the proposed method, the effects of primary design parameters such as direct shear force, punching shear capacity, aspect ratio of connection, number of spans, and initial stiffness of plate can be considered.
