Hollow core slabs generally have not been used for a bridge or a parking slab in Korea. In this study, high performance hollow core slabs, which have been the most thick one in domestic are re-designed and examined for practical use. Flexural tests were performed on four 315mm deep hollow core slabs to investigate adaptability for high vehicle live loadings and composite action with topping concrete. The precast slabs were pre-tensioned with ten strands of 1/2 inch diameter at the lower of slab and four strands of 1/2 inch diameter at the upper of slab, and cast with 80 mm deep topping concrete. Tested hollow core slabs showed ductile failure behaviors which were conformed to the current Ultimate Strength Design Method for a span of 10m up to the live load of 1,000 kgf/㎡. The rectangular md round shear cotters which were used for the composite action between precast and topping concrete, developed sufficient strengths because cracking, even micro had not been developed at the end of slabs up to the pure flexural tensile failure.

Recently, precast PSC girder bridges have been widely applied for short and middle span bridges. The construction of the spliced girder bridges has been increasing to overcome the length limit of girder and transportation restrictions. In case of the spliced girder, the integrity of the segmental joints is very important to secure the structural soundness of bridge because the discontinuity on the segmental joints between adjacent segments could be vulnerable point. The study of segmental joint behavior with different influence factors of joint type, shear key installation, confining force is very important. In this research, finite element analysis and scaled model test with different shear key shapes and confining forces were carried out and the comparative study was performed to evaluate the segmental joint behavior of precast spliced PSC girder bridge. It was confirmed that the installation of shear key with height and depth ratio of 1/2~1/3 and applying of confining force of 1/2 of the concrete strength at the joint was effective in improving the integrity of segmental joint. In addition, the field loading test for existed precast spliced PSC girder bridge was performed and the measurement of the difference of deflection between adjacent segments at segmental joint was proposed as the assessment solution of the integrity of segmental joint.

The joint of existing steel grid composite deck is composed of lap splice of reinforcing bar with end hooks and field-placed concrete. In this study, bending tests of deck joint composed of concrete shear key and high tension bolts are carried out for the design variable, concrete shear key strengthened with steel plate or not, and test results are compared with flexural performance of the existing deck joint. Test results showed that the mechanical deck joint has about 30% ~ 60% more ultimate bending strength than the existing joint. According to analysis results of moment-curvature relationship, the initial bending stiffness of the existing deck joint is some higher than that of mechanical joint. But, after crack failure the structural performance of the existing deck joint is rapidly reduced. Furthermore, the deck joint with the strengthened shear key with steel plate has more bending moment capacity than the deck joint without strengthening. And strengthening of shear key has positive influence on the increase of bending stiffness.

In order to apply a mechanical deck joint to the prefabricated steel grid composite decks, shear resistance of a joint composed of concrete shear key and high-tension bolt is experimentally evaluated by the push-out test. Shear resistance evaluated by the test is compared with resistance estimated by empirical and design equations based on the shear friction theory. Test results show that joint specimens bonded by epoxy have about 10% more shear resistance than specimens with strengthened shear key by steel plates, but in the case of specimens with strengthened shear key there is smaller resistance deviation than specimens bonded by epoxy. In comparison with resistances estimated by empirical and design equations, the deck joint can be safely designed. But because the existed shear resistance of deck joint is underestimated by the ACI-318, application of the LRFD design equation could be more reasonable.
Failures of segmental bridges have been attributed to the inadequate joint connection techniques, which led to corrosion of the post-tensioned tendons connecting the segmental joints. The principal objective of this study is to evaluate the performances of the in-situ cast joint and epoxy applied shear key joints as a function of shear and ultimate strengths. Furthermore, shear behavior and strength of shear key joints in ultra high performance precasted concrete segmental bridges are experimentally evaluated to understand its shear failure behavior. The test parameters of shear key shape and type, load-displacement relations, cracking behavior, concrete strength, and fracture modes are considered in the study. Also, several parameters which influence the mechanical behavior of the shear key joint are analyzed. Based on the study results, the optimal shear key shape and joint type are proposed for the joint design and analysis guidelines.
This study investigates the failure mechanism of RC beams strengthened with GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) sheets. After analyzing failure mechanisms, the various methods to prevent the debonding failures, such as increasing bonded length of GFRP sheets, U-shape wrappings and epoxy shear keys are examined. The bonded length of GFRP sheets are calculated based on the assumed bond strengths of epoxy resin. The U-shape wrappings are either adopted at the end or center of the CFRP sheets bonded to the beam soft. The epoxy shear keys are embedded to the beam soft to provide sufficient bond strength. The end U-wrappings and the center U-wrappings are conventional, while epoxy shear keys are new details developed in this study. A total six half-scale RC beams have been constructed and tested to investigate the effectiveness of each methods to prevent debonding failure of GFRP sheets. From the experimental results, it was found that increasing bonded length or end U-wrappings do not prevent debonding failure. On the other hand, the beams with center U-wrappings and shear keys reached an ultimate state with their sufficient performance. The center U-wrappings tended to control debonding of the longitudinal GFRP sheets because the growth of the longitudinal cracks along the edges of the composites was delayed. In the case of shear keys, it was sufficient to prevent debonding and the beam was failed by GFRP sheets rupture.

In this paper, we observe that secure tweakable permutation families in the sense of strong pseudorandom permutation (SPRP) can be transformed to secure permutation families in the sense of SPRP against related-key attacks (SPRP-RKA). This fact allows us to construct a secure SPRP-RKA which is the most efficient to date. We also observe that secure function families of a certain form in the sense of a pseudorandom function (PRF) can be transformed to secure permutation families in the sense of PRP-RKA. We can exploit it to get various secure constructions against related-key attacks from known MAC algorithms. Furthermore, we define other security notions for related-key attacks, namely indistinguishability and non-malleability, and look into the relations between the security notions fur related-key attacks. We show that secure tweakable permutation families in the sense of indistinguishability (resp. non-malleability) can be transformed to secure permutation families in the sense of indistinguishability (resp. non-malleability) against related-key attacks.

Long caisson breakwaters can improve the structural safety of a caisson due to the wave dispersion effect which reduces the average wave force acting on one caisson. However, in order to make long caissons, there are many manufacturing and construction limitations. Recently, interlocking caisson systems, which are to form a long caisson by interlocking individual caissons with adjacent caissons, have been much attention. In the present study, a interlocking caisson system with shear-keys was proposed and the wave dispersion effect according to the shear-key was evaluated analytically. As a result, (1) Because of the asymmetric shape of the interlocking caisson, the structure behavior and the wave dispersion effect of one are also asymmetric. (2) The wave dispersion effect is more influenced by the distribution and characteristics of wave acting on each caisson rather than the shape of the shear-key such as shear angle, height, shear length ratio. (3) The interlocking caisson breakwater is almost the same behavior and wave dispersion effect as a fully integrated breakwater.

For the joint connection of the precast steel grid composite decks, the prefabricated joint which is composed of concrete shear key and high-tension bolts was already proposed. In this study, for the purpose of increasing the bending stiffness and bending strength of the proposed prefabricated joint section details of the proposed joint are modified, and through experimental tests the bending performance, such as stiffness and strength of a modified joint, is compared with those of the proposed joint. Test and analysis results show that the shear cracks in the concrete shear key are clearly reduced by the strengthening of the shear key using shear studs and additional rebars. According to analysis results of the moment-curvature relationship, bending stiffness of the modified joint is about 47% greater than the stiffness of the proposed joint. Furthermore, the modified joint has about 32% greater bending strength than the proposed joint. Compared to specimens without the joint the modified joint has same or slightly higher bending strength, but about 37% lower bending stiffness.
