Forging of Valve Fitting Products for Semi-Conductor Industry Using a Super-High Speed Shearing Process (초고속 전단공정을 이용한 반도체용 밸브 피팅 단조)

  • Cropping metal materials is widely used for feeding processes of various forming method, such as forging, extrusion, drawing, and upsetting. However, cropping has many weak points, which are material loss in part of cutting, chip creation, and much use of lubrication oil, etc. In this study, instead of cropping, a novel process is proposed to cut metal materials, especially stainless steel bar which is known very difficult to crop. Results of FE-analysis will be shown to verify the proposed method comparing with those of the conventional cropping process. Also, fitting products were successfully forged using the fabricated billet by the proposed process.

냉간성형용 Die강의 마멸특성에 관한 연구

  • 금형을 이용하는 소성가공에서는 형 사이에서 셩형되는 소재가 소성변형되지만 이때 소재는 형의 표면을 따라 미끄러지면서 유동하므로 형재료와 소재간에는 큰 마찰력이 작용하고, 형재료는 이 마찰력에 의하여 전단응력이 작용하게 된다. 따라서 이러한 전단응력이 반복하여 작용하는 프레스가공 등에서는 형의 수명이 항상 문제가 된다. 물론 형의 수명은 형재료가 프레스압력에 견디지 못하여 형이 균열되거나 펀치가 절단되는 것 같은 형재료의 강인성이 불충분하기 때문에 비교적 조기에 일어나는 파손에 의하여 수명의 대상으로 되는 경우도 있지만 무엇보다도 형의 수명을 죄우하는 가장 중요한 사항은 형재료의 내마멸성이다. 따라서 본 연구에서서는 이들 제인자를 고려하여 Die 및 Punch의 재료로 널리 사용되는 냉간성형용 Die강인 STD 11의 마멸특성을 알기 위하여 미끄럼 속도, 접촉압력 및 미끄럼 거리등을 변화시켜 내마멸성을 나타내는 최적사용조건을 찾고자 하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.

A Study on the Characteristics of the Precision Blanking of Lead Frame (1): Influences of Blanking Process Variables (리드 프레임 타발공정의 전단특성에 관한 연구(1) -전단 공정 인자의 영향)

  • In order to investigate the influences of process parameters on the shape of lead frame, experimental study has been carried out. In the experiment, dimensional accuracy of the die sets, measurement accuracy has been managed carefully enough to simulate actual lead frame blanking process. With the blanking of square-shaped specimen, the effects of clearance, strip holding pressure and bridge width on the shape of blanked profile have been investigated. Experimental results show that the burnish ratio is increased as the clearance decreases. the strip holding pressure increases, and bridge width increases. Although the results seems to be similar to the ordinary blanking, the lead frame blanking shows a subtle different characteristics to the ordinary blanking due to the narrow bridge width.

  • Shearing characteristics of cornstalks were investigated under quasi-static conditions at various knife approach angles and shear angles in order to determine their importance to the cutting action of mowers. Corn variety used in this study was pioneer that was grown in the field of Chungnam National University. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The shearing process had two shearing stages in cornstalks, which was different from those of rice and other forage crops due to the hard crust. 2. Force and energy of shear were decreased progresively with height of the cornstalks. 3. The minimum shear force occured at shear angle of about $60^{\circ}$ and approach angle of about $10^{\circ}$ 4. The condition of minimum shear energy coincides with that of minimum shear force. 5. Effects of knife approach angles were more significant than those of shear angle for force and energy of shear.

Meat Quality, Textural and Sensory Properties of Farm-Grown Pheasant Meat and Processed Products (농장 사육 꿩고기의 육질 및 가공제품의 물성과 관능특성)

  • Functional properties of farm-grown pheasant meat with different sex, age and cutting portion were investigated, and the textural and sensory characteristics of processed products were also evaluated. Chemical composition of pheasant meat was characterized to be high in protein and low in fat, and breast muscle showed more protein and less moisture than thigh muscle. Moisture/protein ratio of the pheasant meat was relatively low in a range of 2.82∼3.40, indicating the pheasant meat would be a good source of processed meat, and it had high water holding capacity and myofibrillar protein extractability with some variations depending on age and portion cut(p<0.05). Thigh muscle showed higher value of L* and b* and lower value of a* than breast muscle. However, no difference was observed in color of meat with different age and sex. The meat from the 6 months and the breast cut had lower shear force than those of respective 17 months and the thigh regardless of sex. The pressed ham and sausage manufactured with the pheasant meat had better score than the commercial products manufactured with pork or chicken in sensory and textural parameters.

Effects of Phenolic and Phosphite Antioxidants on the properties for PC/ABS Blends during High-Shear-Rate Processing (고속 전단 가공에서 페놀계와 인산계 산화방지제에 의한 PC/ABS 블렌드의 물성 변화 연구)

  • The effects of antioxidants on the properties of Polycarbonate/Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene(PC/ABS) blends were studied for the functions of the screw speed and loaded duration of high shear rate processing in order to investigate the degradation for PC/ABS blends. Tris-(2,4-di-tert-butyl-phenyl phosphate) (A1) and Bis(2,4-dicumylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite (A3) as phosphite antioxidants and Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate (A2) as a phenolic antioxidant are used. The thermal properties were detected by TGA and severely decreased, after the processing. The stress-induced and thermal degradation for PC/ABS blends with the antioxidant A3 was retarded better than the others. By using UTM, the mechanical properties also showed individually decreased according to the antioxidants, after the processing, especially, the elongations showed considerable decline behaviors, while the tensile strengths of PC/ABS blends changed very little. For example, in the operating conditions of 1000rpm of screw speed and 20 seconds of loaded period, the elongations decreased from 148% before the processing, to 91.6% with the A1, to 63% with the A2 and to 131% with the A3 after the processing, respectively. In order to get the morphological properties, the size distributions of the dispersed phases for PC/ABS were investigated by SEM analysis and tended to decrease, as the screw speed and loaded period of the processing increased. Therefore, we confirmed that the antioxidant A3 was the best of all of three to inhibit the stress-induced degradation of PC/ABS blends during the high shear rate processing.

A study on the applicability of newly developed stainless steel for weight reduction of carbody of intermodal tram (인터모달 트램 차체 경량화를 위한 신개발 스테인레스 강재 적용성 연구)

  • The newly developed super ductile duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has good strength and ductility, and it can be used to reduce weight and improve the fabrication efficiency of a carbody of a rolling stock. In this study, spot weldability tests were conducted to take advantage of SDDSS in a carbody for an intermodal tram. Specimens of various thickness (0.4 to 5.0 mm) were prepared to find the proper welding conditions, and tensile load tests were conducted to evaluate the tensile-shear strength of spot welded joints. Then, nugget diameters were measured to verify the quality. The tensile-shear strength was found to be proportional to the heat parameter. It was verified that the tensile-shear strengths and nugget sizes of the joints satisfy the standard requirements. The overall weldability tests confirmed that SDDSS can be used effectively for the carbody of an intermodal tram.

Elastic Interactive Shear Buckling Behavior of Trapezoidally Corrugated Steel Webs (제형파형강판 복부판의 탄성 연성전단좌굴 거동)

  • Corrugated webs have been used for composite prestressed concrete box girder bridges. Innovative steel plate girders using corrugated webs have been proposed. It has been found that analytical and experimental researches conducted to determine the strength of trapezoidally corrugated webs can fail with respect to three different buckling modes: local, global, and interactive shear buckling. Shear buckling capacity equations based on classical and orthotropic plate buckling theories have been proposed,but these equations show some differences. In this paper, geometric parameters that influence interactive shear buckling behavior with interaction effects are identified via extensive bifurcation buckling analysis using the finite element meth.
