Effects of the Application of Different Fertilizers on the Forage Productivity and Quality on Newly Reclaimed Hilly Soil II. Changes in the contents and yields of mineral and general components (신개간 산지토양에서 초지조성 비종별 목초의 생산성 및 품질 비교 II, 목초 중 무기양분 및 일반성분의 함량과 양분수량)

  • This pot experiments was conducted to find out the forage productivity and quality in a grass/clover sward as affected by the application of three different fertilizers; double superphosphate(DS), fused Mg-phosphate(FP), and complex fertilizer(CF) on newly reclaimed hilly soil. This 2nd part was concerned with the contents and yields of mineral nutrients and general components. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The concentrations of P, Ca. Mg, and Na by the forage species were relatively higher in the CF plots than in the FP and DS plots. The yields of mineral nutrients by the forage species were high in the order: CF>FP>DS plots. Especially. these were higher in the ladino clover and mixed forages than in orchardgrass. 2 The contents of crude protein and crude ash were highest with the CF plots, compared with the FP and DS plots. The yields of general components in the ladino clover and mixed forages were apparently highest with the CF plots. whereas these in orchardgrass not showed consistent differences among the plots. It was recognized that the positive effects on the concentrations and yields of mineral nutrients and general components in forages were higher in the order: CF>FP>DS plots.

Physicochemical Properties of Taro Flours with Different Drying, Roasting and Steaming Conditions (토란분말의 건조, 볶음 및 증자 조건에 따른 이화학적 특성)

  • To evaluate the processing adaptability of taro flours, the physicochemical properties of taro flour with different drying, roasting and steaming conditions were investigated. The moisture content and total dietary fiber were decreased as temperature increased with hot-air drying. Freeze-dried taro flours showed the highest vitamin C contents. Taro flours made by freeze-drying and hot-air drying showed significantly higher total dietary fiber content than those with roasting and steaming process. Steamed taro flours had the highest water absorption index, while hot-air dried and freeze dried taro flours had the highest water solubility index. No differences were displayed in the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermal characteristics among hot-air dried and freeze dried taro flours. Roasted taro displayed decreased onset temperature and peak temperature as roasting temperature increased. Using a rapid visco-analyzer, the peak viscosity, through viscosity, and final viscosity of dried and steamed taro flours were higher than roasted taro flours, whereas the set back value, which is a prediction of retrogradation, decreased with steaming processing. From those results, it could be concluded that hotair dried taro flours, which have high gelatinization viscosity, are beneficial in imparting viscosity to dough products and hot-air drying after steaming taro flours, which retard retrogradation, is good for porridge and flake base products.

Control Effect of Temperature and Humidity by Ventilation Fan Operation Methods in Wintering Honey Bee House (월동용 양봉사의 환기팬 작동방식에 따른 온 ${\cdot}$ 습도 조절효과)

  • This study was conducted to establish the ventilation fan operation schedule to be able to provide satisfactory environment for colonies in thc wintering honey bee house. The simulation and practical measuring test were conducted to verify the applicability of an existing simulation program to thc calculation of inside thermal environment condition of the house, and the environment control performance was compared between the two types of fan operation schedule to find the proper schedule. It was concluded that the program could be used to design thc materials of the enclosure and the fan operation schedule and decide the number of accommodation hives. Inside temperature of bee house controlled by the fan operation schedule B was lower than the schedule A under the similar high outside temperature condition. In the presence of the high outside temperature condition, inside air temperature of bee house could be decreased by changing fan operation schedule A to schedule B. The humidity variation in bee house controlled by the tan operation of schedule B was smaller than that by schedule A. These results indicated that the schedule B was superior in the aspect of the environment control performance.

  • There is growing concern about landscape agreement with regard to a variety of activities within resident-based agreements in Korea. This study aims to investigate the communication method of the agreement contacting process and its essential role as a bottom-up resident-based process. The study site is Gobuk Market in Suwon city, where a resident-based landscape agreement was successfully made. In this study, the author implemented in-depth interviews and a literature review to understand the meaning of the agreement contracting process and participants' opinions regarding the Gobuk Market case. During the landscape contracting process, the level of participation of residents, experts and the government changed. The study found that diverse communication methods, such as training, agreement information sessions and seminars were conducted during the process of the resident-based landscape agreement and it is crucial to construct healthy relationship among stakeholders. Furthermore, the experts' role is crucial in establishing agreement among residents initially. However, as local empowerment and the willingness of local people grow, each stakeholder's role is changed by stage. Therefore the Central and Local Government have the necessary task of providing institutional strategy. This study has offered practical information on how each stakeholder played their individual role within the landscape agreement.

Ten-year Clinical Study of Chorionic Villus Sampling (융모막 융모생검 511례에 대한 임상적 연구: 10년(2000-2010년)간의 경험)

  • Purpose: We evaluated indications for chorionic villus sampling (CVS), the positive predictive value of CVS for fetal chromosomal abnormalities, and the fetal loss rate after CVS at CHA Medical Center. Materials and Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 511 cases of CVS performed between 67 and 120 days of gestation for prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis from April 2000 to April 2010. Fetal karyotypes were obtained by direct and indirect culture methods. Results: The most common indications for CVS were abnormal ultrasonic findings including increased nuchal translucency (294/635, 46.3%). The positive predictive value of abnormal karyotyping according to indication for CVS was highest in cases with abnormal parental karyotypes (14/21, 66.7%). Mosaicism revealed by CVS comprised 3.1% of the sample (16/509). Amniocentesis revealed two cases of true mosaicism and 11 cases of confined placental mosaicism. The fetal loss rate within 4 weeks of the procedure was 1.2% (6/511). Conclusion: If CVS is performed by an expert clinician, it is a feasible and reliable procedure for prenatal genetic diagnosis. When CVS indicates mosaicism, the finding should be confirmed by amniocentesis to distinguish true mosaicism from confined placental mosaicism.

Development of Structural Glued Laminated Timber with Domestic Cedar (국산 삼나무를 이용한 구조용 집성재 이용기술)

  • In the southern part of the Korean Peninsula including Jeju-island, the production amount of domestic cedar has increased gradually. However, their low qualities, expected to be caused by the low density and frequent knots, have restricted their practical utilization as the high value-added products. In this study, it is aimed to look for the new uses of domestic cedar and to examine the applicability for lamination lumbers of structural glued laminated timber (glulam). Above all, machine stress ratings for individual sawn lumbers confirmed that modulus of elasticity (MOE) of cedar lumber was lower than that of other common softwood species in Korea. On the other hand, cedar lumbers have enough stiffness to manufacture the structural glulam in accordance with Korean Industrial Standard (KS). The bonding strength and durability also met the KS limitation. Nevertheless, from the result of bending tests for cedar glulam, it was shown that the modulus of elasticity (MOE) did not meet the KS limitation. Therefore, it was concluded that additional researches were needed for reinforcing the stiffness of cedar glulam.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore problems within bibliotherapy research of the 15 thesis papers aimed at improving self esteem, and then to explore development plan. In the current study on bibliotherapy, the problems with bibliotherapy are presented in five aspects. First, there is a lack of professionalism and role of counselor who plays the most important role in bibliotherapy. Second, the situation of the internalizer as an internalizer of bibliotherapy was not reflected in the bibliotherapy program. Third, the lack of diversity in the bibliotherapy program does not keep the reader's interest in bibliotherapy. Fourth, bibliotherapy reading material is limited to text material, which lacks the use of various media. Fifth, there is insufficient validity for the test paper that measures the effectiveness of the reader's bibliotherapy in terms of research methods. Several development plan are proposed based on the factors that affect bibliotherapy. First, it is necessary to develop and train teaching materials to secure expertise of bibliotherapy counselors. Second, it is necessary to develop data on the various media on suitable for bibliotherapy material. Third, it is necessary to review the test paper that can accurately measure the effectiveness of bibliotherapy.

Content Comparison of Proximate Compositions, Various Solvent Extracts and Saponins in Root, Leaf and Stem of Panax Ginseng (인삼의 근, 엽 및 경의 일반성분, 용매별 엑기스 및 사포닌 함량 비교)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effective components, especially saponins, in aerial parts of Panax ginseng. The contents of methanol and ethanol extracts in ginseng leaf were 35.9% and 27.3%, much higher than 15.4% and 8.37% in ginseng root and 21.7% and 16.3% in ginseng stem. And ginseng stem showed as high content of crude fiber as 39.2% which is very high compared with other two parts of ginseng. The contents of total crude saponin were 4.78%, 2.38% and 19.58% in ginseng root, stem and leaf, respectively. In ginseng leaf seven root ginseno-sides-ginsenoside-Rgl(3.32%), -Re(3.24%), -Rd(2.32 %), -Rc(0.65%), -Rb2(0.92%), -Rbl(0.29%), and -Rf(0.11%)-were analyzed by HPLC, Seven gisneno- sides-ginsenoside-Rgl(0.28%), -Re(0.3%), -Rd(0.05%), -Rf(0.01%), -Rc(trace), -Rb2(trace) and -Rbl(trace)-were detected in ginseng stem. Ginseng leaf contained high percentage of saponin and especially of ginsenoside-Rgl, -Re and -Rd. Therefore, ginseng leaf was good resources for ginsenoside-Rgl, -Re and -Rd.

  • Recently, concerns relating to the maintenance of large structures have been increased. In addition, the number of large structures that need to be evaluated for their structural safety due to natural disasters and structural deterioration has been rapidly increasing. It is common for the structural characteristics of an older large structure to differ from the characteristics in the initial design stage, and changes in dynamic characteristics may result from a reduction in stiffness due to cracks on the materials. The process of deterioration of such structures enables the detection of damaged locations, as well as a quantitative evaluation. One of the typical measuring instruments used for the monitoring of bridges and buildings is the dynamic measurement system. Conventional dynamic measurement systems require considerable cabling to facilitate a direct connection between sensor and DAQ logger. For this reason, a method of measuring structural responses from a remote distance without the mounted sensors is needed. In terms of non-contact methods that are applicable to dynamic response measurement, the methods using the doppler effect of a laser or a GPS are commonly used. However, such methods could not be generally applied to bridge structures because of their costs and inaccuracies. Alternatively, a method using a visual image can be economical as well as feasible for measuring vibration signals of inaccessible bridge structures and extracting their dynamic characteristics. Many studies have been conducted using camera visual signals instead of conventional mounted sensors. However, these studies have been focused on measuring displacement response by an image processing technique after recording a position of the target mounted on the structure, in which the number of measurement targets may be limited. Therefore, in this study, a model experiment was carried out to verify the measurement algorithm for measuring multi-point displacement responses by using a DIC (Digital Image Correlation) technique.

Optimization of Anion-exchange Chromatography for the Separation of Agarase from Culture Broth of Pseudoalteromonas sp. (Pseudoalteromonas sp. 배양액으로부터 아가레이즈 분리를 위한 음이온교환 크로마토그래피 최적화)

  • Degradation products of agarose are biologically active and thus used as an ingredient in pharmaceuticals or functional cosmetics. Furthermore, it has been strongly considered as a substrate for bio-ethanol fermentation. Recently, we isolated new agarase-producing microorganism, Pseudoalteromonas sp. from south sea of Korea. In this study, we aimed to separate and purify the agarase from culture broth of this strain. Separation of agarase was performed by ion- exchange chromatography on DEAE-Sepharose resin. Equilibrium pH and volume ratio of resin to the amount of protein were optimized for the efficient adsorption of protein. 410 ${\mu}g$ of protein was completely adsorbed to 3 mL of resin at pH 7.5. The total amount of eluted protein increased as NaCl concentration increased to 400 mM at isocratic elution. Agarase was separated by linear gradient elution of NaCl (0~1,000 mM). Three major protein peaks were observed and the presence or absence of agarase in these eluted proteins was measured by Lugol's staining technique. Only six eluted protein fractions showed strong agarase activity.
