  • 원적외선 방사특성은 방사체로부터 적외선이 방사되면 상대물체에 닿고 흡수되어 원자나 분자를 여기하여 발열하는 현상이기 때문에 방사체의 적외선 방사특성과 피가열체의 적외선 흡수특성과의 정합성을 고려하여야 한다. 또한 적외선 방사특성은 온도와 방사체의 표면상태 및 조성에 크게 의존하기 때문에 용도에 따른 선택이 중요시 되기도 한다. 현재는 적외선을 열에너지의 전파형태로서만 생각하는 것이 아니라 상온에 가까운 저온에 있어서도 미약한 에너지가 어떻게 생리, 생체적, 바이오 테크널러지(Biotechnology)면에서 효과가 있는지가 가장 관심을 끌고 있다. 그러므로 적외선 방사의 특성을 정확하게 평가하고 보다 깊이있는 연구를 하여 과학적 사실로 입증할 수 있는 노력이 이루어져야 한다.

  • 자동차 보수도료 경화는 주로 열풍방식을 사용하고 있지만 적외선 가열방식을 사용하면 품질이 향상 되고 에너지 절약 등의 이점이 있다. 따라서 자동차 보수도료의 경화용으로 사용할 적외선 방사체를 개발하였다. 자동차 보수도료의 적외선 흡수 스펙트럼과 적외선 방사체 방사 스펙트럼이 일치해야 도료의 경화효율이 우수해짐을 알 수 있었고 열풍방식과 비교하여 경화된 도막의 품질 및 경화시간에 대한 실험데이터를 분석하였다.

Non Destructive Technique for Steel Corrosion Detection Using Heat Induction and IR Thermography (열유도 장치와 적외선 열화상을 이용한 철근부식탐지 비파괴 평가기법)

  • Steel corrosion in concrete is a main cause of deterioration and early failure of concrete structures. A novel integration of electromagnetic heat induction and infrared (IR) thermography is proposed for nondestructive detection of steel corrosion in concrete, by taking advantage of the difference in thermal characteristics of corroded and non-corroded steel. This paper focuses on experimental investigation of the concept. An inductive heater is developed to remotely heat the embedded steel from concrete surface, which is integrated with an IR camera. Concrete samples with different cover depths are prepared. Each sample is embedded with a single rebar in the middle, resulting an identical cover depth from the front and the back surfaces, which enable heat induction from one surface and IR imaging from the other simultaneously. The impressed current (IC) method is adopted to induce accelerated corrosion on the rebar. IR video images are recorded during the entire heating and cooling periods. The test results demonstrate a clear difference in thermal characteristics between corroded and non-corroded samples. The corroded sample shows higher rates of heating and cooling than those of the non-corroded sample. This study demonstrates a potential for nondestructive detection of rebar corrosion in concrete.

Analysis of Temperature Distribution of the Glass Panel in the Infrared Heating Chamber (적외선 가열로에서 가열되는 유리 패널의 온도분포 해석)

  • Analysis has been carried out to investigate the temperature variation and the uniformity of the temperature distribution of the glass panel by infrared radiant heating. Halogen lamps are used to heat the panel and located near the top and bottom of the rectangular chamber. The thermal energy is transfered only by radiation and the radiation exchange occurs only on the solid surfaces and is considered by using the view factor. The results show that the uniformity of the temperature distribution of the panel is improved but the time for heating increases as the wall reflectivity is large. The temperature difference reaches a maximum in the early stage of the heating process and then decreases until it reaches the uniform steady-state value.

  • This study presents a technique to quantitatively measure the corrosion level of a reinforcing bar using infrared thermography system. We found out electric heating method having an important effect on thermal data in previous study. This study purposed an efficient way for grip standardization to reduce constriction resistance problem, and providing reliable thermal data using infrared thermographic method. Using vise type earth clamp, the surface resistance of rebar was smaller than that of traditional plier type earth clamp through temperature-distribution relationship. Also this study contains experiments with toque wrench to improve heating contact problem.

  • Temperature distribution and heating characteristic of the panel heater for infrared heating have been investigated. The temperature variation with time is firstly measured with the thermocouple to figure out the response time of the heater to the power input. The heater reaches faster to the steady state in comparison to the ceramic heater. The infrared thermal imaging system is utilized to investigate the temperature distribution over the heater surface. The measured thermal images show that the thermal boundary layer induced by the free convection near the heater surface affects the temperature distribution on the surface. The images also show the fairly good uniformity of the temperature distribution in the core region of the surface.

  • 요업 소성로에서 내화재로 흡수된 에너지는 피가열물에 방사열로 작용하며, 이때 내화물의 방사율이 높을수록로내의 온도를 상승시켜 소비되는 연료가 절감된다. 따라서 내열성과 방사율이 높은 세라믹 내열도료를 개발하여 구성물의 결정 구조, 열적특성, 적외선 방사량 및 에너지 절감실험에 대한 데이터를 분석한 결과 높은 내열성과 적외선 방사량 증가에 따른 에너지 절감에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • A two-dimensional mathematical model was developed to predict the temperature and moisture-content profiles of a tumble dryer during infrared drying. The model is based on the movements of liquid water and moisture in the object and on the fluid and heat transfer in the drying air. The model was solved by the finite volume analysis for the fluid, temperature, and radiation intensity fields. After deriving the governing equations and developing the two-dimensional tumble dryer models, numerical investigations were carried out to examine the effects of various parameters such as the heater temperature and the heating patterns on the drying mechanism of the tumble dryer. All the results show that the drying time can be reduced by using the IR heater.

  • We introduced a technology for reducing infrared radiation through the active cooling of hot surfaces by using a thermoelectric refrigerator. Certain surfaces were heated by aerodynamic heating, and the heat generation processes are proposed here. We calculated the temperatures and radiations from surfaces, while using thermoelectric refrigerators to cool the surfaces. The results showed that the contrast between the radiations of certain surfaces and the ambient environments can be removed using thermoelectric refrigerators.
