The purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors of pregnancy and the relationship between pregnancy experience and suicidal behavior in 284 pregnancy experienced adolescents aged 13-19 years. The suicidal ideation was 57.8%, the suicide plan was 37.7% and the suicide attempt was 37.3% among female adolescents with pregnancy experience. By multivariate logistic regression analysis, female adolescents who experienced pregnancy had 1.44 times more suicidal ideation, 2.39 times more suicide plans, and 2.38 times more suicide attempts than those without suicidal thoughts, plans and attempts. Because of the high correlation between pregnancy experience and suicidal behavior in female adolescents, school and education authorities need systematic education and countermeasures to prevent adolescents' pregnancy and risk of suicide after pregnancy. And above all, convergent support and interest in home, school and community comprehensive area should be supported.
The goals of the study were to examine if and how exposure to suicidal factors in social relationships affects suicidal ideation and behaviors and also analyze how family factors are associated with suicidal ideation and behavior. Data drawn from Korean General Social Survey(KGSS) collected in 2009 were analyzed. The findings show that exposure to the suicidal factors have statistically significant effects on suicidal ideation and behaviors. In the findings, respondents who have experiences of which socially close persons have suicidal ideation or completed suicide are more likely to have suicidal ideation and suicidal plan even in the models for which demographic factors and depressive symptoms are controlled. Also, family factors have significant effects on suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviors. Family stress increases suicidal ideation and behaviors whereas expectation on family support reduces the likelihood of having suicidal ideation and behaviors. This study shows that there might be possibility of behavioral contagion in terms of suicide through social connections and family has both positive and negative aspects on suicidal ideation and behaviors. Our study suggests policy implications for people who were exposure to suicide.
The purpose of this study was to validate the Suicidal Ideation Attributes Scale(SIDAS) which can measure the severity of suicidal ideation in a sample of 399 Korean adults. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted for two weeks from July 2020 to August 2020. First, there were differences in SIDAS scores among groups divided by gender, residence status, depression and anxiety symptoms, suicidal ideation, suicidal plan, suicidal preparation, and suicidal attempt. Second, correlations between SIDAS, C-SSRS suicidal ideation intensity question(3 items), and the Rosenberg Self-efficacy (RSE) were examined to confirm the validity of SIDAS. As a result, correlations between the SIDAS and suicidal ideation intesity items of C-SSRS were significant in all items, while correlations between the SIDAS and RSE items were negative or insignificant. Third, as a result of the confirmatory factor analysis of SIDAS on all respondents and respondents with suicidal ideation, a single factor structure was appropriate for both groups. Internal consistency of SIDAS was also good. Lastly, as a result of identifying the variables affecting the suicidal plan over the past year, controllability and age were identified as significant predictive variables. SIDAS which was designed to be administered through web, can be appropriately used in Korea. It was confirmed that SIDAS is a reliable and valid suicidal ideation scale which is applicable to adults in Korea.
Objectives : The study aimed to identify factors associated with suicidal attempt in Korean adults experiencing thoughts of suicide. Methods : This study analyzed outcomes of suicidal behavior in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2015, 2017, and 2019. This survey was administered by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC). The suicidal idea group was divided into individuals who had attempted suicide (n=92) and those who had not (n=831). Complex samples crosstabs analysis was conducted to compare the two groups' sociodemographic, psychiatric, and clinical characteristics. In addition, factors related to attempted suicide were investigated using complex samples logistic regression analysis. Results : The attempted suicide group had significantly higher rates of depression, recent psychiatric counseling, and suicidal plan (p<0.001) than the non-attempting group. In addition, the groups differed significantly in the frequency of binge drinking and smoking (p<0.05). Adjusted multivariate analysis revealed that the presence of a suicidal plan (Odds ratio [OR]=8.46, 95% Confidential Intervals [CI]=4.72-15.00), daily binge drinking (OR=3.14, 95% CI=1.26-7.84), psychiatric counseling within the past year (OR=3.03, 95% CI=1.75-5.23), low income level (OR=2.89, 95% CI=1.17-7.10), and history of depression (OR=2.39, 95% CI=1.29-4.42) were significantly associated with suicidal attempt. Conclusions : Factors associated with suicidal attempt among suicidal ideators in the general Korean population were identified across all sociodemographic, psychiatric, and clinical variables. Assessment of and intervention in suicidal plan, binge drinking, income level, and depression might prevent progression to suicidal attempt among those contemplating suicide.
The government has been promoting suicide prevention policies, but the elderly suicide rate has still not improved. This study focused on the role of local governments in solving suicide problems and analyzed three-year data from 2015 to 2017 at local governments level to investigate the relationship between suicide prevention policies and elderly suicide rates. Multiple regression analysis and logistic regression analysis was conducted to control social capital factors, demographic factors, and medical use factors that can affect the elderly suicide rate. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that suicide prevention ordinances were enacted and suicide prevention centers were established in areas with high suicide rates. In areas with high suicide rates, the suicide rate decreases if the elapsed period is long after the establishment of the center. From the perspective of suicide rates, it was analyzed that the local welfare support system was more affected. Accordingly, it was confirmed that the suicide prevention policy should be established in connection with the reinforcement of welfare policies

This study was to investigate the moderating effect of the protective factors in the relationship between impulsivity and suicide behavior of elementary school students. This study surveyed total 573 elementary school students located in Seoul. They completed survey questionnaires of impulsivity, suicide behavior and protective factors. Collected data was examined using correlation analyses and hierarchical multiple regression analyses. First, a total of 29(5.1%) students reported suicide plan, 17(3.0%) students reported suicide attempts and the rate of suicide behavior was 7.1%(n=41). Second, there was a negative relationship between impulsivity and protective factors and a positive relationship between impulsivity and suicide behavior. Also, it was found that the protective factors(individual factor, family factor, peer factor, school factor) moderated the relationship between impulsivity and suicide behavior of elementary school students. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

The purpose of the study was to provide basic data for planning and offering nursing intervention to prevent suicide attempts by identifying the factors influencing the suicidal thoughts of depressed adults. The subjects of this study were 1,202 individuals who answered clearly in 2013-2015 National Health and Nutrition Survey. A composite sample plan file was generated using the IBM SPSS 23.0 program, and then the data were weighted and analyzed. Suicidal ideation was influenced by income (50-60s), number of family members (50-60s), marital status (40-50s), subjective health (30-50s, over 70s), stress (30s, over 50s), economic activity status (50s), diabetes (60s or older), alcohol consumption (60s), and Body Mass Index (BMI) (40s). These results suggest that tailor-made interventions for the prevention of suicide need to take into account the general and health-related factors of the subjects.
