A Methodology for Integrating Security into the Automotive Development Process (자동차 개발 프로세스에서의 보안 내재화 방법론)

  • Conventional automotive development has mainly focused on ensuring correctness and safety and security has been relatively neglected. However, as the number of automotive hacking cases has increased due to the increased Internet connectivity of automobiles, international organizations such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe(UNECE) are preparing cybersecurity regulations to ensure security for automotive development. As with other IT products, automotive cybersecurity regulation also emphasize the concept of "Security by Design", which considers security from the beginning of development. In particular, since automotive development has a long lifecycle and complex supply chain, it is very difficult to change the architecture after development, and thus Security by Design is much more important than existing IT products. The problem, however, is that no specific methodology for Security by Design has been proposed on automotive development process. This paper, therefore, proposes a specific methodology for Security by Design on Automotive development. Through this methodology, automotive manufacturers can simultaneously consider aspects of functional safety, and security in automotive development process, and will also be able to respond to the upcoming certification of UNECE automotive cybersecurity regulations.

An Empirical Study on the Export Competitiveness of Korean Automobiles in the Local Chinese Market (한국 자동차의 대중국 수출경쟁력에 관한 연구 - RCA, CAC, ESI 지수 비교를 중심으로)

  • This study aims at analysing the export competitiveness of the six largest countries which have the highest market share in world automobile market, namely Japan, USA, China, Germany, South Korea and France for the last seven years between 2000 and 2006 in Chinese automobile market by using revealed comparative advantage index(RCA), comparative advantage index by country (CAC) and exporting similarity index(ESI). On analysis of the RCA index, it showed that the export competitiveness of Korean automobile in the world market was high following Japan and Germany, but it ranked the lowest competitiveness among the six trade competitors in Chinese automobile market. In other side, it is also made sure that the formidable competitors of Korean automobile export in global market are Germany and Japan. Therefore, South Korea needs to raise its ability to adjust to improvement of the international competitiveness in exports through close cooperation between government and automobile export enterprise and consistent monitoring about Chinese automobile industry and market.

  • 21 세기의 자동차 IT 융합 기술은 이동수단의 차량 운송 기술을 넘어 IT 첨단화 기술로 성장하고 있으며, 전장기술과 함께 정보통신 IT 분야의 핵심기술로 자리잡고 있다. 특히, 스마트-폰과 연계한 이동통신기술의 발달로 유,무선통신 및 인터넷을 결합한 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 기술이 급속히 발전하고 있음에 따라 Automotive-IT 첨단기술은 시간과 장소의 한계를 극복하여 언제 어디서나 자동차내에서 또는 통합관제 운용시스템을 통하여 운행정보와 ITS 지능형자동차 기술로 발전시킬 수 있는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 응용기술을 통하여 IT 융,복합기술로 급성장하고 있는 자동차 Automotive-IT 응용기술에 대한 향후 연구기술 방안을 제안한다.

A Demand forecasting for Electric vehicles using Choice Based Multigeneration Diffusion Model (선택기반 다세대 확산모형을 이용한 전기자동차 수요예측 방법론 개발)

  • Recently, the global warming problem has arised around world, many nations has set up a various regulations for decreasing $CO_2$. In particular, $CO_2$ emissions reduction effect is very powerful in transport part, so there is a rising interest about development of green car, or electric vehicle in auto industry. For this reason, it is important to make a strategy for charging infra and forcast electric power demand, but it hasn't introduced about demand forecasting electric vehicle. Thus, this paper presents a demand forecasting for electric vehicles using choice based multigeneration diffusion model. In this paper, it estimates innovation coefficient, immitation coefficient in Bass model by using hybrid car market data and forecast electric vehicle market by year using potential demand market through SP(Stated Preference) experiment. Also, It facilitates more accurate demand forecasting electric vehicle market refelcting multigeneration diffusion model in accordance with attribute progress in development of electric vehicle. Through demand forecasting methodology in this paper, it can be utilized power supply and building a charging infra in the future.

  • 자율주행자동차는 운전자의 개입 없이 스스로 목적지까지 도착할 수 있는 차량으로 세계 여러나라의 자동차 업체 뿐만 아니라 IT분야에서도 개발중에 있다. 일반 자동차와는 달리 차량에 카메라와 GPS, 각종 센서 등 IT 기술들이 도입되어 운전자와 차량 간에 소통이 이루어지면서 편리함을 가져다 준다. 그러나 자율주행자동차는 하나의 스마트폰이 탑재되었다고 볼 수 있을 만큼 지능적이고 다양한 기술이 적용되어 있기 때문에 취약점과 위협 요소가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 자율주행자동차의 운행으로 인해 야기될 수 있는 취약점을 분석하고 적용 가능한 보안 고려사항을 제시한다.

  • As the use of public transportation increases, many researches are being carried out to increase the fuel economy of car. The goal of this study is to design a front body in order to increase the fuel economy of car through three models of cars. All models were designed with CATIA program and the flow analyses on the air outside car by model were carried out with ANSYS program. At the driving speed of 90km/h, the longer the body, the less air resistance it received. So, it is thought that there is the effect to increase fuel economy. Through this study, it can be helpful to design the front car body that can maximize train efficiency. By utilizing the design data on flow analysis according to the position of radiator inside car in this study, the esthetic sense can be given by being grafted onto the real automotive part.

  • Number of vehicles in Korea is gradually increasing and it exceeded 16 million in 2007. Holding of vehicles is connected to disposal, owing to this reason the importance of ELVs recycling has been emphasized. The recycling of ELVs makes the disposal of ELVs easier as well as protects environment and it has the alternative effect economizing the insufficient resource. This study was carried out to evaluate the economic effect of recycling of ELVs compared with disposal of ELVs. The analysis showed that recycling process makes a profit in comparison to the disposal of ELVs. Therefore the government has to consider establishing the regulation related to recycling of ELVs or materials and car manufactures have to develop the efficient dismantling and recycling methods.

  • In order to minimize problems related to the performance and safety of automobiles, the "Age Limit for Vehicles System" which restricts the age of buses, taxis, and trucks, was implemented in 1973. This contributed to the reduction of accidents and increase of user's service satisfaction. However, the restriction system for trucks was abolished in August 1997 as it was deemed restrictive to economic growth. It is found that one of main causes of traffic accidents such as Changwon Tunnel accident occurred in recent years, is the aging of trucks. Thus, There is a growing need for the management of the age of trucks. In this study, the time when cargo vehicles need to be managed is suggested, by analyzing the safety of cargo vehicles using vehicles inspection data.

  • Autonomous vehicles can be exposed to severe danger when failure occurs in any of its components. For this reason many countries are making efforts on the legislative issue how to objectively evaluate failure safety of an autonomous vehicle when such a vehicle is commercially available to a customer in the near future. In level-3 automation, a driver must take over the control of his vehicle when failure occurs, and the driver's controllability must be secured for escape from the imminent danger. In this paper, quantitative methods have been developed for evaluating failure safety of the level-3 autonomous vehicle, and they were validated by simulation. And also, we confirmed that the proposed evaluation method can quantitatively evaluate the failure safety.

Study on Effectiveness of Accident Reduction Depending on Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEB 장치에 대한 사고경감 효과 연구)

  • This paper describes effectiveness of accident reduction on vehicles equipped with AEB using accident data occurring in Korea. During the statistical period, we used the number of vehicles which are covered by auto insurance and the number of accidents. To maximize the reduction effect of accidents caused by the driver's carelessness, the analysis was limited to Physical Damage Coverage that covers the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged vehicle caused by the driver's fault. Due to Personal Information Protection Law, it was not capable of comparing the same vehicle using Vehicle Identification Number in this study. Instead of that, we used it as a similar vehicle, so there are limits to the comparison and analysis results. As a result of this study, we have found that the effect of reducing accidents was different depending on the vehicle class, but it was generally concluded that the number of accidents decreased when the vehicle was equipped with an AEB system. Domestic research on the AEB effect of reducing accidents is not active yet. Therefore, it is absolutely essential to analyze the effects according to various conditions such as driver's age, occupation and gender as well as expanding the study models in the future.
