A Study on Structural Design of Natural Fiber Composites Automobile Body Panel Considering Impact Load (충돌 하중을 고려한 친환경 자연섬유 복합재 적용 자동차 차체 패널의 구조 설계 연구)

  • In this study, structural design and analysis of the automobile bonnet is performed. The flax/vinly ester composite material is applied for structural design. The Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding-Light (VARTML) manufacturing method is adopted for manufacturing the flax fiber composite bonnet. The VARTML is a manufacturing process that the resin is injected into the fly layered-up fibers enclosed by a rigid mold tool under vacuum. A series of flax/vinyl ester composite panels are manufactured, and several kinds of specimens cut out from the panels are tested to obtain mechanical performance data. Based on this, structural design of the automobile bonnet is performed.

  • This paper illustrates a case study of PLC logic simulation in a car manufacturing system. It was developed to simulate and verify PLC control program for automobile panel AS/RS. Because car models become varied, the complexity of supply problem is increasing in the car manufacturing system. To cope with this problem, companies use the AS (automated storage) and RS (retrieval system) but it has logical complexity. Industrial automated process uses PLC code to control the AS/RS, however control information and control codes (PLC code) are difficult to understand. This paper suggests a PLC simulation environment, using 3D models and PLC code with realistic data. Data used in this simulation is based on realistic 3D model and I/O model, using actual size and PLC signals, respectively. The environment is similar to a real factory; users can verify and test the PLC code using this simulation before the implementation of AS/RS. Proposed simulation environment can be used for test run of AS/RS to reduce implementation time and cost.

Empirical Analysis on Trade Pattern of Korean Motor Industry and Effect of Free Trade Agreement through Panel Gravity Model (패널중력모형을 통한 한국 자동차산업의 교역패턴과 자유무역협정의 영향 분석)

  • This study was done through Panel Gravity Model to analyze the trade pattern of Korean motor industry and empirical analysis was also performed on the effect of regional economies joining to the Korean trade is to draw out some implications. Compared with per capita pattern regarding the income levels of both the countries, the results indicated that trade of Korean motor industry followed GDP pattern in accordance with the overall market. The results of effect on regional economic integration to Korean motor industry reflected 179% and 198% increase in motor trade industry and motor parts trade, respectively. To expand the trade of Korean motor industry at the international competitiveness level, focus should be made on smaller, smarter and greener car with lesser impact on the environment. Hence, the present investigation suggested that government should not delay in retaining the core technology as well as private sector should also aggressively invest in the market.

Experimental Study on Spot Weld and Plug Weld of Automotive Body Panel (자동차 차체 패널의 점용접 및 플러그용접 특성에 대한 실험적 분석)

  • This paper presents a comparison of an experimental study on spot and plug welding of an automotive body panel. Spot welding is a common joining technology used in automotive body panel assembly. In automotive body repair, however, plug welding is widely used due to its technical simplicity and cost benefit. Some researchers have focused on the use of spot welding in the manufacturing process, but there has been very little research done with respect to the engineering analysis of the plug welding process. In this study, two kinds of specimens are considered to compare the difference of failure strength between spot weld and plug weld: normal tension and shear tension. The experimental results show, in both normal tension and shear tension, that spot welding has higher failure strength than plug welding. In addition, plug welding is more vulnerable to shear tension than normal tension. This study can be applied to further studies on practical optimization for maintenance and repair of automotive body panels.

발포금속의 현황과 장래 The Recently and future application of Metal Foams

  • 발포금속은 1948년에 Sosnik에 의해 알루미늄에 수은을 증발시키는 방법으로 발포 알루미늄을 제조한 이래, 1951년 Elliot에 의해 진보된 방식인 발포 매개체를 용탕에혼입하는 방법으로 발포금속을 제조하기 시작하였다. 현재 이들 선진국가의 생산방법 및 현황은 균질 기공의 조절, 연속주조 방식과 원가절감, 그리고 제조기술의 진보를 통하여 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 그러나 실용화를 위해서는 요구특성을 만족하고 동시에 가격 경쟁력을 가진 제조기술의 보유 및 개발과 독특한 특성을활용한 새로운 적용 분야의 개척이 필요하다고 생각되며, 이를 위해 Harvard, MIT, Aachen, HMI 등 구미 유수 대학과 NASA, 미국방성등의 연구기관, ERG, 신강(新鋼) wire등 산업체를 중심으로제조 및 특성평가에 관한 기초연구와 활용방안이 활발히 모색중에 있다. 그리고 일부 자동차 생산 업체를중심으로 발포금속을 적용한 초경량, 에너지 절감형의 자동차 부품 소재,항공기 방열판 등에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 특히 금속 기체의 GASAR 공법은 Lotus 공법으로 Osaka 대학에서 개발되어 열교환기, 항공기, 방열기 등으로 응용이 확대되고 있다 국내에서 완제품생산은 실내장식용 복합패널로서 한소 프라임이 운영상의 문제로 생산을 중단하였으며, 유닉슨(주), 금강(주)에서 Batch식, 금성산업에서 Pot식이 일부 생산 및 연구가 진행되었으나 현재는 본연구실의 협조로 (주) 폼텍에서 발포패널을 주로 생산하고 있고 (주)드림메탈과 (주)아크로폼텍에서일부 생산되고, (주)동일알루미늄에서는 폐 scrap을 이용한 발포 Al 제조가 연구단계에 있다. 생기원에서는 분말 가열 흡음패널이 개발되었으나 강도와 내열성이 낮아 이들 특성을 향상시크는 연구가 진행중이다. 이들 제품은 성능상으로는 동양강판의 흡음패널과 KIMM의 필터용은연구개발이 낮은 수준이며, 본 연구팀과 공동 개발한 (주)폼텍의 복합패널은 10여 가지의 실용특허로 건축마감재로서 오히려 선진국수준을능가한 상태이다, 한편, 발포금속 기능성 개발은, 이들이 가지고 있는 우수한 특성 때문에 군수용으로부터 민수 산업용까지 전분야에 적용이 가능한 소재이므로 수요처를확장하고 있으므로 제품의 균질성, 안정성과 기능성 개발 향상을 위해 지속적이고 체계적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.

Development of Two-Shot Injection-Compression Soft Instrument Panel (2샷 사출 압축 소프트 인스트루먼트 패널 개발)

  • In order to reduce the cost and weight of the soft-foamed instrument-panel (IP), it was developed the new IP which is made by the two kinds of injection methods. One is the compression-injection with back-foamed foil inserted, and the other is two-shot injection with the passenger airbag door. We named it 'IMX-IP' which means that all components ('X') of the IP with different resins are made in a mold. The development procedure of this technology was introduced (1) Design of the new injection mold through TRIZ method, (2) Optimization of the injection conditions and back foamed-foil for minimizing the foam loss and thickness deviation, (3) Development of CAE for two-shot injection compression, (4) Reliability performance test and application to the mass production. The reduction of the processes through the two-shot injection with back foamed-foil inserted made it possible to enhance soft feeling on IP and reduce the cost and weight simultaneously.

  • Springback after draw and flange is the critical factor affecting the product quality. It is very difficult to predict the amount of springback not only because of complex geometry and material characteristics of the stamping product, but because the methodology has not been established. In this study, springback mechanism is introduced, and experimental tryout an automobile panel is carried out for die design of automotive hood panel. Further, introduce adapting design and field springback was verified by trial experimental with the measured tryout result. Finally, introduced about general method in order to predict springback in computer simulation.

  • Cylindrical panels are widely used as aircraft fuselages and rocket etc, and the cutouts for weight reduction or wiring at such structures tend to cause the stress concentration and the local radial displacement so that seriously effect the stability of structures. In this paper, for the cylindrical composite panel with coutout at the center, the buckling and postbuckling behaviour regarding the shape and size of cutout is analyzed by finite element method. Also the lamination mechanism , changing bending stiffness and fiber orientation angle variation are researched to be regarded in studying the laminated composite materials.

  • 최근 자동차 인스트루먼트 패널은 디지털 콕핏으로써 차량 상태 외에도 다양한 정보와 기능을 제공한다. 그러나 무분별하게 표시되는 정보는 오히려 운전자의 주행 집중을 방해하기에, 운전자에게 필요한 정보만을 효율적으로 제공하기 위한 디자인 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 자동차 제조사 및 부품사의 양산 차량과 콘셉트카의 디지털 콕핏을 분석해 도출한 개인화, 연결성, 사용성이라는 주요 키워드를 토대로 글로벌 자동차의 UX/UI 동향과 기술개발 현황을 분석하였고, 이를 기반으로 미래 자동차 디지털 콕핏의 발전 방향을 키워드별로 제시하였다.
