Efficiency Optimization Control of IPMSM using Neural Network (신경회로망을 이용한 IPMSM의 효율 최적화 제어)

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has become a popular choice in electric vehicle applications and so of due to their excellent power to weight ratio. To obtain maximum efficiency in these applications, this paper proposes the neural network control method. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the error back propagation algorithm(EBPA) of neural network. The minimization of loss is possible to realize eHciency optimization control for the IPMSM drive. This paper proposes high performance and robust control through a real time calculation of parameter variation such as variation of back emf constant, armature resistance and d-axis inductance about the motor operation. Proposed algorithm is applied IPMSM drive system, prove validity through analysis operating characteristics con011ed by efficiency optimization control.

Recognition System of Car License Plate using Fuzzy Neural Networks (퍼지 신경망을 이용한 자동차 번호판 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method to extract an area of car licence plate and codes of vehicle number from a photographed car image using features on vertical edges and a new Fuzzy neural network algorithm to recognize extracted codes. Prewitt mask is used in searching for vertical edges for detection of an area of vehicle number plate and feature information of vehicle number palate is used to eliminate image noises and extract the plate area and individual codes of vehicle number. Finally, for recognition of extracted codes, we use the proposed Fuzzy neural network algorithm, in which FCM is used as the learning structure between input and middle layers and Max_Min neural network is used as the learning structure within inhibition and output layers. Through a variety of experiments using real 150 images of vehicle, we showed that the proposed method is more efficient than others.

Mathematical Model for Dynamic Performance Analysis of Multi-Wheel Vehicle (다수의 바퀴를 가진 차량의 동적 거동 해석의 수학적 모델)

  • In this study, a simulation program is developed in order to investigate non steady-state cornering performance of 6WD/6WS special-purpose vehicles. 6WD vehicles are believed to have good performance on off-the-road maneuvering and to have fail-safe capabilities. But the cornering performances of 6WS vehicles are not well understood in the related literature. In this paper, 6WD/6WS vehicles are modeled as a 18 DOF system which includes non-linear vehicle dynamics, tire models, and kinematic effects. Then the vehicle model is constructed into a simulation program using the MATLAB/SIMULINK so that input/output and vehicle parameters can be changed easily with the modulated approach. Cornering performance of the 6WS vehicle is analyzed for brake steering and pivoting, respectively. Simulation results show that cornering performance depends on the middle-wheel steering as well as front/rear wheel steering. In addition, a new 6WS control law is proposed in order to minimize the sideslip angle. Lane change simulation results demonstrate the advantage of 6WS vehicles with the proposed control law.

  • With the help of technical development in the electronic industries, the electronic devices employing the cutting-edged technology are spread in all the area requiring electromagnetic communications. Especially, because of the presence of electronic devices in a variety of research fields like automotive vehicle, train, and aircraft, the research area such as the malfunction and critical damage of the internal system and microwave devices due to the unexpected radiated high-powered EM effects are very important even for the possible occurrence of human damage. In this paper, the effects of electromagnetic fields into the cable connecting the electronic devices and many sensors inside the target structure is treated because of potential malfunction or hardware disorders. In addition, correlation function and transmission line theory have been employed for the analysis of the induced current on the cable inside an electrically large resonant structure.

  • As mobile devices evolve and digital convergence trend is here to stay, mobile phones are built with multiple functions including cameras, MP3s, TVs and game consoles. As a consequence, such multi-functional mobile phones come to spend more power, facilitating development of next-generation ultra-capacity lithium ion battery. In addition, environmental regulations and rising oil prices cause demand for hybrid cars to keep rising. Accordingly, more and more attention is being paid to medium and large batteries and more efforts are being made to realize lower battery prices, higher outputs and stability. This study presented a patent technology related to the lithium ion battery packing that allows reducing processes related, increasing productivity and recycling parts other than the body. The lithium ion battery pack to which protection circuits are elastically attached provides short circuit protection for the circuit and the body and makes electric connection of the circuit and the body easier.

  • This study presents a design of integrated management system for manufacturing company for the purpose of reducing operation cost and speeding up flow of processes. Since common commercial management package should be well customized to reflect inherent processes of each company with great deal of effort, this study chooses a manufacturing company that produces component parts of automobile as a target company and designs management system specified for that target company. System design focuses on the minimization of the indirect cost of manufacturing reflected on the manufacturing cost price for each functional modules consisting of entire system through adding a mechanism to reduce unnecessary occurrence of process transactions. In addition, this paper considers connectivity among the functional modules so that manufacturing situations can be influenced on the system to be implemented and includes the system design with monitoring modules and data flow between functional modules.

Failure Case Studies of Sensors for Electronic Controlled Engine in LPG Vehicle (LPG 자동차에서 전자제어엔진용 센서의 고장사례에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper analyzes and investigates the failure case studies of electronic control sensors for a LP gas engine. The malfunction of crank angle sensor, which controls a fuel injection volume of LP gas, displays an irregular and non-uniform pulse wave form. The pulse form, which is related to the noise of the crank angle sensor, displays at the rectangular peak with a saw-toothed shape and is intermittently generated with a level of 2.46V noise signal. The malfunction of No. 1 TDC sensor in which is caused from the internal disorder affects to the reduction of engine power and engine stop suddenly. If the malfunction of oxygen sensor is occurred due to a wiring problem of a sensor connector, the LP gas vehicle may produce a shaking and disharmony of an engine because of no signal supply from the oxygen sensor. The air cleaner replica produces the clogging of continuous supply of fresh air. This may cause the retardation of vehicle acceleration and engine disharmony intermittently.

Comparison of the neural networks with spline interpolation in modelling superheated water (물의 과열증기 모델링에 대한 신경회로망과 스플라인 보간법 비교)

  • In numerically evaluating the thermal performance of the heat exchanger, numerical values of thermodynamic properties such as temperature, pressure, specific volume, enthalpy and entropy are required. But the steam table or diagram itself cannot be directly used without modelling. In this study the applicability of neural networks in modelling superheated water vapor was examined. The multi-layer neural networks consist of an input layer with 2 nodes, two hidden layers with 15 and 25 nodes respectively and an output layer with 3 nodes. Quadratic spline interpolation was also applied for comparison. Neural networks model revealed smaller percentage error compared with spline interpolation. From this result, it is confirmed that the neural networks could be a powerful method in modelling the superheated water vapor.

  • A GNSS receiver installed in autonomous vehicles is the most essential device for its navigation. However, if an intentional jamming signal is generated, there is a risk of exposure to an accident risk due to deterioration of the GNSS sensor's performance. Research is required to prevent this, and accordingly, a jamming generating device must be provided. However, according to the provisions of the law related to jamming, this is illegal. In this paper, we implement an in-vehicle jamming device that complies with the provisions of the law and does not affect the surrounding GNSS sensors. Driving simulation is used to evaluate the performance of the GNSS algorithm, and the malfunction of autonomous vehicles occurring in the interference environment and data errors output from the GNSS sensor are analyzed.

Speed Controller Transition Method for I-F Operation and Sensorless Operation of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (영구자석 동기 전동기의 I-F 구동과 센서리스 구동을 위한 속도 제어 절환 기법)

  • Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(PMSMs) have a wider range of applications due to their high output density and high efficiency. PMSMs are used not only in high-power density, high-performance motor-driven systems such as vehicle and robots, but also in systems where cost-cutting is very important, such as washing machines, air conditioners and refrigerators. To reduce costs, position sensorless control is required, which is generally difficult to be used under conditions of starting the motor. Thus, the I-F speed control that rotates the current vector at any speed in the starting procedure should be used at first, and then the sensorless speed control could be applied after PMSM rotates above a certain speed. Speed control performance in I-F speed control and sensorless speed control is very important. And more speed control performance should be maintained even in the transient in which the two control techniques are changed. In this paper, the speed controller transition method from I-F speed control to sensorless speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor is proposed. Experiments were carried out on the washing machine drive system to verify the performance of the proposed technique.
