FADIS : An Integrated Development Environment for Automatic Design and Implementation of FLC (FADIS : 퍼지제어기의 설계 및 구현 자동화를 위한 통합 개발환경)

  • This paper developes an integrated environment CAD system that can design and implement an accurate and cost-effective FLC automatically. For doing this, an integrated development environment (IDE) (called FADIS; FLC Automatic Design and Implementation Station) is built by the seemless coupling of many existing. CAD tools in an attempt to the FADIS performs various functions such that (1) i~utomatically generate the VHDL components appropriate for the proposed FLC architecture from the various design parameters (2) simulate the generated VHDL code on the Synopsys's VHDL Simulator, (3) automatically compiler, (4) generate the optimized, placed, and routed rawbit files from the synthesized modules by Xilinx's XactStep 6.0, (5) translate the rawbit files into the downloadable ex- [:cution reconfigurable FPGA board (VCC's EVCI), and (7) continuously monitor the control status graphically by communicating the FLC with the controlled target via S-bus. The developed FADIS is tested for its validity by carrying out the overall procedures of designing and implementing the FLC required for the truck-backer upper control, the reduction of control execution time due to the controller's FPGA implementation is verified by comparing with other implementations.

Automatic Measurement Method of Traffic Signs Using Image Recognition and Photogrammetry Technology (영상인식과 사진측량 기술을 이용한 교통표지 자동측정 방법)

  • Recently, more accurate database information of facilities is being required, with the increase in importance of urban road facility management. Therefore, this study proposed how to automatically detect particular traffic signs necessary for efficient construction of road facility DB. For this study, central locations of facilities were searched, after recognition and automatic detection of particular traffic signs through an image. Then, coordinate values of traffic signs calculated in the study were compared with real coordinate values, in order to evaluate the accuracy of traffic sign locations which were finally detected. Computer vision technology was used in recognizing and detecting traffic signs through OPEN CV-based coding, and photogrammetry was used in calculating accurate locations of detected traffic signs. For the experiment, circular road signal(No Parking) and triangular road signal(Crosswalk) were chosen out of various kinds of road signals. The research result showed that the circular road signal had a nearly 50cm error value, and the triangular road signal had a nearly 60cm error value, when comparing the calculated coordinates with the real coordinates. Though this result is not satisfactory, it is considered that there would be no problem to find locations of traffic signs.

Robust Motorbike License Plate Detection and Recognition using Image Warping based on YOLOv2 (YOLOv2 기반의 영상워핑을 이용한 강인한 오토바이 번호판 검출 및 인식)

  • Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) is a technology required for many applications such as Intelligent Transportation Systems and Video Surveillance Systems. Most of the studies have studied were about the detection and recognition of license plates on cars, and there is very little about detecting and recognizing license plates on motorbikes. In the case of a car, the license plate is located at the front or rear center of the vehicle and is a straight or slightly sloped license plate. Also, the background of the license plate is mainly monochromatic, and license plate detection and recognition process is less complicated. However since the motorbike is parked by using a kickstand, it is inclined at various angles when parked, so the process of recognizing characters on the motorbike license plate is more complicated. In this paper, we have developed a 2-stage YOLOv2 algorithm to detect the area of a license plate after detection of a motorbike area in order to improve the recognition accuracy of license plate for motorbike data set parked at various angles. In order to increase the detection rate, the size and number of the anchor boxes were adjusted according to the characteristics of the motorbike and license plate. Image warping algorithms were applied after detecting tilted license plates. As a result of simulating the license plate character recognition process, the proposed method had the recognition rate of license plate of 80.23% compared to the recognition rate of the conventional method(YOLOv2 without image warping) of 47.74%. Therefore, the proposed method can increase the recognition of tilted motorbike license plate character by using the adjustment of anchor boxes and the image warping which fit the motorbike license plate.

Optimal Supply Calculation of Electric Vehicle Slow Chargers Considering Charging Demand Based on Driving Distance (주행거리 기반 충전 수요를 고려한 전기자동차 완속 충전기 최적 공급량 산출)

  • The transition to electric vehicles is a crucial step toward achieving carbon neutrality in the transportation sector. Adequate charging infrastructure at residential locations is essential. In South Korea, the predominant form of housing is multifamily dwellings, necessitating the provision of public charging stations for numerous residents. Although the government mandates the availability of charging facilities and designated parking areas for electric vehicles, it bases the supply of charging stations solely on the number of parking spaces. Slow chargers, mainly 3.5kW charging outlets and 7kW slow chargers, are commonly used. While the former is advantageous for installation and use, its slower charging speed necessitates the coexistence of both types of chargers. This study presents an optimization model that allocates chargers capable of meeting charging demands based on daily driving distances. Furthermore, using the metaheuristic algorithm Tabu Search, this model satisfies the optimization requirements and minimizes the costs associated with charger supply and usage. To conduct a case study, data from personal travel surveys were used to estimate the driving distances, and a hypothetical charging scenario and environment were set up to determine the optimal supply of 22 units of 3.5kW charging outlets for the charging demands of 100 BEVs.

  • Smart city is an urban development vision to integrate multiple information and communication technology(ICT) and Internet of Things(IoT). The goal of building a smart city is to improve the quality of life by using urban informatics and technology to improve the efficiency of services and meet residents' needs. Many devices in today have been used on various industrial regions. These devices use Internet to transfer their informations. We call these situations as the IoT(Internet of Things). We studied various application examples of IoT in smart city industrial region. In this paper, we described two actual cases such as smart park system and smart bin.

A Study on the Traffic Information System Development Using DSRC (DSRC를 이용한 교통정보시스템 개발 연구)

  • Recently, DSRC technology is used in the various fields such as parking system, BIS, ETC, etc. This paper suggests a traffic information system using this DSRC technology. The traffic information processing based on point detection using existing vehicle detection equipment is the system in which a collection and a service are operated separately while the traffic information system based on the link detection using DSRC is able to collect and provide the traffic information through the communication between RSE and OBU. The speed of a traffic congestion is high on the process converted from a point passing speed to a link average speed because the vehicle detection equipment makes the link traffic information into the point information. When the condition of traffic is deteriorated, traffic speed of the vehicle detection equipment becomes higher than DSRC. Especially, in this system, deflection by data of the traffic speed of the traffic information system is much decreased, and the unexpected condition detection and traffic condition are provided promptly.

Dropout Prediction Modeling and Investigating the Feasibility of Early Detection in e-Learning Courses (일반대학에서 교양 e-러닝 강좌의 중도탈락 예측모형 개발과 조기 판별 가능성 탐색)

  • Since students' behaviors during e-learning are automatically stored in LMS(Learning Management System), the LMS log data convey the valuable information of students' engagement. The purpose of this study is to develop a prediction model of e-learning course dropout by utilizing LMS log data. Log data of 578 college students who registered e-learning courses in a traditional university were used for the logistic regression analysis. The results showed that attendance and study time were significant to predict dropout, and the model classified between dropouts and completers of e-learning courses with 96% accuracy. Furthermore, the feasibility of early detection of dropouts by utilizing the model were discussed.

Demand Forecasts Analysis of Electric Vehicles for Apartment in 2020 (2020년 아파트의 전기자동차 수요예측 분석 연구)

  • The world has been replacing fast fossil fuels vehicles with electric vehicles(EVs) to cope with climate change. The government set a goal which EVs will be substitute at least 10% of the domestic small vehicles with EVs until 2020, and will try to build electric charging infrastructures in apartments with the revision the law of 'the housing construction standards'. In apartments the EVs charging infrastructure and parking space is, essential to accomplish the goal. But the studies on EVs demand are few. In this study, we predicted that the demand for EVs using time-series analysis of statistical data, survey results for apartments residents in the metropolitan area. As a result, the ratio of the EVs appeared to be 6~21% for the total vehicles in a rental apartments for the years 2020, 21~39% in apartments for sales. For the EVs, the maximum power required for 1,000 households in rental apartment is predicted to be about 4200 kwh on a daily basis, while the maximum power in the apartment for sales is predicted to be 7800kwh.

A Car License Plate Recognition Using Morphological Characteristic, Difference Operator and ART2 Algorithm (형태학적 특징 및 차 연산과 ART2 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 번호판 인식)

  • 2006년 11월 이후 신 차량 번호판 등장 후, 신 차량 번호판과 구 차량 번호판이 혼합되어 있다. 이에 따라 속도위반, 신호위반 단속, 무인 주차관리 시스템, 범죄 및 도주 차량 검거, 고속도로 톨게이트에서 통행료 지불로 인한 교통 체증현상을 해소하기 위한 자동 요금 징수와 같은 다양한 경우에서 자동차 번호판의 특징에 맞는 인식 시스템이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 형태학적 특징 및 차 연산과 ART2 알고리즘을 이용한 차량 번호판 인식 방법을 제안한다. 무인 카메라에서 획득된 차량 번호판 영상에서 차 연산을 이용하여 에지를 추출한 후에 블록 이진화를 한다. 이진화 된 차량 영상에서 신 구 차량 번호판의 형태학적 특성을 8방향 윤곽선 추적 알고리즘에 적용하여 잡음 영역을 제거하고, 차량의 번호판 영역을 추출한다 추출된 번호판 영역에 대하여 평균 이진화와 최대 최소 이진화를 적용하여 번호판의 개별 영역에 대한 형태학적 특성을 고려하여 잡음을 제거하고, Labeling 알고리즘을 적용하여 개별 문자를 추출한 후에 결합한다. 이렇게 분류된 개별 문자 및 숫자 코드를 ART2 알고리즘에 적용하여 학습 및 인식을 한다. 제안된 차량 번호판 추출 및 인식 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 녹색 번호판과 흰색 번호판 이미지 각각 100장을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 제시 된 차량 번호판 추출 및 인식 방법이 실험을 통해서 효율적인 것을 확인하였다.

A Study on the Improvement of Indoor Environment in the Underground Parking Lot of Apartments in Jeonju City (전주시 공동주택 지하주차장의 실내환경 개선에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of the research is to prevent residents who are using underground parking lot from being exposed to pollusion, and to allow them to enjoy clean indoor environment. The study subject for the research are underground parking lots in 20 different apartments, 4 of them were constructed before 2000, 10 were constructed from 2000-2010, and the rest were constructed after 2010. By analyzing the air quality in these underground parking lots, we found out that O3, NO2, CO, PM10, Radon in all parking lots were not excessive compared to the standard limit. TVOC rate was measured with the value in between 312 ~ 2,137㎍/m3, with CO2 value in between 193~1,824 ppm, and HCHO with the value in between 0.01~1.52ppm. The lightning system in underground parking lots in apartments constructed before 2000 were using manual light control system, while automatic light control system was used in all apartments constructed after 2000, and the brightness of parking lots in apartments constructed before 2000 was quite low. The apartments constructed after 2000 are performing cleaning and ventilation due to management agreement, while the apartments constructed before 2000 are not performing regular cleaning and there was no mechanical ventilation system installed. The difference of indoor air quality was significant seasonally, daily, and yearly (year of construction), while illuminance was significantly different yearly.
