  • In this study, track dynamic interaction characteristics caused by the vehicle running through transitional section such as bridge abutments were studied using the finite element analysis program. The geometric condition of track was generated by trigonometric function and allowable maximum track irregularity is determined by KORAIL track maintenance criteria. The sub-infrastructure under rail fastener system was modelled by 3D solid elements. To reduce computational cost only half track line is numerically considered and the roller boundary condition was applied to each side of model. In this study, the vehicle-track dynamic interaction analysis was carried out for standard Korean transition section of concrete track and the dynamic behaviors were investigated. The dynamic characteristics considered are wheel load variation, vertical acceleration at body, and maximum Mises stress at each part of transitional section.

  • The underground space which has been highlighted anew in view of urban scenery and environmental conservation through the control of ground development and solution of urban problems through making the utility of urban space efficient can promote the urban service, amenity, stability and others by arranging the urban function of ground area to the underground which is anticipated to be demanding the more in the future an also can be effective measures of confrontation in the solution of traffic, the complex in the heart of the city and lack of land through effective construction of the structure of urban space. But it has been understood to be extremely negative space at this time as limited to negative and fragmentary development and it has faced the necessity of constructing pleasant environment by overcoming every problem. After all, through the general research of underground space, this dissertation is reconsidering the development value of environmental design on the basis of the case study in international city development of underground space, and trying to extract design factors which should be treated in developing the underground space by establishing the evaluation model on the functional, techinical and behavioral elements factors.

Owing not only to this game-like fun but also to the educational effect, The Edutainment contents can be usefully applied to education and training in the areas of scientific technology and industrial technology. This study proposes the Edutainment that users can apply to biotechnology by using intuitive multi-modal interfaces. In this study, a stereoscopic monitor is used to make three dimensional molecular structures, and multi-modal interface is used to efficiently control. Based on the system, this study easily solved the docking simulation function, which is one of the important experiments, by applying these game factors. For this, we suggested the level-up concept as a game factor that depends on numbers of objects and users.

  • The marine life culture contents added with fun and learning factors are created in a 3D space, and the development of augmented reality contents concerning marine life resources in islands and the utilization method of experience-based learning are proposed. As a WYSIWYG-based authoring tool, an augmented reality authoring tool was made to easily use a authoring tool through a node structure and drag & drop. Marine life contents add the animation effect through a marker and event factors such as the change of modeling data, and also, they support real experience-based learning with the narration of marine life. Based on around 50 species of marine animals augmented reality contents, a marine animal AR book can be utilized as a textbook for elementary school classes, and as a 3D image education utilizing augmented reality, it enhances a learning effect by allowing realistic observation, various ways of thinking, and the maximum flow.

  • This paper proposes a hexahedral mesh generation scheme based on mapping approach and improves the drawback of sweeping algorithm. In order to improve the drawback, the algorithm in this paper generates hexahedral meshes by three dimensional element mapping first. Then hexahedral meshes are equivalent to geometry of the volume by mapping and smoothing. Sample meshes are constructed to demonstrate the mesh generating capability of the proposed algorithm.

  • The goal of using numerical methods in this study is two-fold: to replicate a set of measured, individualized HRTFs by a computer simulation, and also to visualise the resultant sound field around the head. Two methods can be wed: the Boundary Element Method (BEM) and the Infinite-Finite Element Method (IFEM). This paper presents the results of a preliminary study carried out on a KEMAR dummy-head, the geometry of which was captured with a high accuracy 3-D laser scanner and digitiser. The scanned computer model was converted to a few valid BEM and IFEM meshes with different polygon resolutions, enabling us to optimise the simulation for different frequency ranges. The results show a good agreement between simulations and measurements of the sound pressure at the blocked ear-canal of the dummy-head. The principle of reciprocity provides an effect method to simulate HRTF database. The BEM was also used to investigate the total sound field around the head, providing a tool to visualise the sound field for different arrangements of virtual acoustic imaging systems.

  • This paper proposes a new hybrid support structure by the driven piles which removes disadvantages of the existing type of support structure for offshore wind turbines. The hybrid type of support structure is combined with concrete cone and steel shaft, and is supported not only by gravity type foundations but also by driven piles. For three dimensional analysis of the huge and thick concrete structure, a solid-shell element that is capable of exact modeling and node interpolations of stresses is developed. By applying wave theory of stream function and solid-shell element in XSEA simulation software for fixed offshore wind turbines, a quasi-static analysis and natural frequency analysis of proposed support structure are performed with the environmental condition on Southwest Coast in Korea. In the result, lateral displacement is not exceed allowable displacement and a superiority of dynamic behavior of new hybrid support structure is validated by natural frequency analysis. Consequently, the hybrid support structure presented in this study has a structural stability enough to be applied on real-site condition in Korea. The optimized structures based on the preliminary design concept resulted in an efficient structure, which reasonably reduces fabrication costs.

  • The post-buckling behavior of slender members, such as the chord of truss structures generally implies extreme strength degradation. The buckling strength is usually determined as the performance of the compressed steel members, so it is important to understand the exact buckling behavior of a member in order to design the entire structure. A target analytical model is usually divided by beam or shell element when we simulate the buckling behavior of a compressed steel member such as atruss member. In this case, it is possible to accurately obtain the behavior, but such would be expensive and would require experience inanalysis even in monotonic loading. In this paper, we propose a consistent and convenient method to analyze the post-buckling behavior of elastoplastic compression members. The present methods are formulated to satisfy the second law of thermodynamics. Three numerical examples were tested to determine the validity of the proposed model in cyclic loading with comparable F.E.M results.
