Community Structure of Subtidal Macrobenthos in Hampyung Bay during Autumn in 1997, Southwest Coast of Korea (한국 서남해역 함평만 조하대의 가을철 저서동물 군집구조)

  • Community structure of macrobenthos was studied at forty one stations of Hampyung Bay, southwest coast of Korea. Three replicate sediment samples were taken at each station in October 1997, using a van Veen grab (surface area $0.1\;m^2$). The types of surface sediment in the sampling area were muddy sandy gravel between bay mouth and bay proper, and gravelly sandy mud between bay proper and inner bay stations. The particulate organic carbon content in the surface sediment was $0.23\sim0.69\%\;(0.44\pm0.10\%)$. A total of 168 species collected during the study period is composed of 58 of polychaetes, 54 of crustaceans, 34 of molluscs and 22 of miscellaneous. The former two taxa together were accounted for $66.6\%$ of the total number of species. The mean density was $1,168 ind./m^2$, comprising $684 ind./m^2$of molluscs ($58.6\%$), $381 ind./m^2$of polychaetes ($32.6\%$), and $90 ind./m^2$of crustaceans ($13.2\%$). The mean biomass was $358.65 g/m^2$, which is consisted of $302.97 g/m^2$of molluscs ($84.5\%$), $24.20 g/m^2$of echinoderms ($6.7\%$), and $19.16 g/m^2$of crustaceans ($5.4\%$). Major dominant species at the inner stations of the study area was Ruditapes philippinarum with a density of $520ind./m^2$($44.5\%$), and Lumbrineris lontifolia with $183ind./m^2$($15.7\%$), while that at bay mouth stations Pitar indecoroides with $56ind./m^2$. Reticunassa festiva, Heteromastus sp., Praxillella affinis, Chone sp. and Tharyx sp. were at from all stations. Based on the cluster analysis, the macrobenthic community in the bay was classified into five station groups depending on sediment types: Group A, a high gravel content in the sediment; Group B, stations with high mud content from bay mouth to bay proper, Group C, stations with fine and poorly sorted sediment from bay proper to the inner bay. The distribution pattern of the number of species, abundance and biomass is discussed in relation to environmental variables.

Net Shapes of the Model Set Net in the Flow (흐름에 대한 모형 정치망의 형상 변화)

  • A study was carried out to estimate the deformation of the set net according to the current by the model test in the circulation water channel. The tension of the frame line and the variation of net shapes were measured to investigate the deforming of the model set net in the flow. The results are obtained as follows; 1. The tensions (y) of the frame line according to the flow speed(x) from 0.0m/s to 0.6m/s were expressed by the experimental equation as follow : y= 1814.1x+115.12 2. In case of the upperward flow with fish court net, deformed angle in the upperward net was changed from 0$^{\circ}$ to 79$^{\circ}$, the inclined passage net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 56$^{\circ}$. Besides, the depth ratio of the first bag net changed from 1.0 to 0.42 and the second bag net was from 1.0 to 0.41, and deformed angle in the downward of the bag net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 87$^{\circ}$. 3. In case of the upperward flow with bag net, deformed angle in the upperward net was changed from 0$^{\circ}$ to 60$^{\circ}$, the inclined passage net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 13$^{\circ}$. Besides, the depth ratio of the first bag net changed from 1.0 to 0.27 and the second bag net was from 1.0 to 0.15. In the flow speed 0.3m/s, the inclined passage net rised up to the entry of the bag net and then prevented it more over 90% in 0.5m/s. A deformed angle in the downward of the fish court net was from 0$^{\circ}$ to 58$^{\circ}$. 4. To minimize the deformation of each part in model set net, it needs to attach the moving weight out of the fish court net, inclined passage net and bag net. Besides, it needs to adjust the tension of the net twine for the maintenance of the shape.

Numerical study of the influence of inlet shape design of a horizontal MOCVD reactor on the characteristics of epitaxial layer growth (수평 화학기상증착 반응기의 입구형상 설계가 단결정 박막증착률 특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • In this study, a numerical analysis of the deposition of gallium arsenide from TMGa and arsine in a horizontal MOCVD reactor is performed to investigate the effect of inlet diffuser shape of reactor on the flow and deposition characteristics. The effects of two geometric parameters (diffuser angle, diffuser shape) on the growth rate, growth rate uniformity, flow uniformity and pressure loss are presented. As a results, it is found that the optimum linear diffuser angle is in the range of $50^{\circ}$$55^{\circ}$ and parabolic diffuser in the range of $40^{\circ}$$45^{\circ}$ from the viewpoint of growth rate uniformity, flow uniformity and average growth rate. It is also found that variation of diffuser angle has greater impact on growth rate uniformity than average growth rate particularly in parabolic diffuser.

  • 현재 평화의 댐 배수터널은 직경 10m 원형 x 4 련의 콘크리트 라이닝 터널로 구성되어 있다. 배수터널내의 흐름특성은 터널직경, 모양, 터널결사, 조도계수 및 입구부와 출구부의 기하학적 성질, 터널의 상류수위와 하류수위 등에 따라 개수로 혹은 관수로의 흐름특성이 나타난다. 따라서 터널내의 흐름은 각각의 경우에 따른 수리학적 해석이 달리 적용되어진다. 화천댐의 수위와 연계하여 평화의 댐 방류량을 산정하기 위해서는 상$\cdot$하류 수위에 따른 관로내의 흐름특성이 다양하게 변화하는 바 이에 따른 수리학적 검토가 필요하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 배수터널의 흐름별로 계산 방법을 도출하였으며 상$\cdot$하류의 수위와 단면형태를 고려하여 먼저 배수터널내의 흐름특성을 규명한 다음 그에 합당한 유량산정공식으로 배수터널 내에서 유하하는 흐름의 유량값을 산정할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 본 검토에서 구축된 계산절차에 의해서 평화의 댐 수위가 급격하게 변화하는 시점인 2002년 1월, 6월 그리고 2004년 8월 시점의 평화의 댐, 화천댐의 수위를 검토하여 방류량을 산정하였다. 평화의 댐에서는 방류량을 결정하기 위한 계측시설이 없기 때문에 가장 가까운 하류부의 화천댐 유입량과 비교를 수행하게 된다. 강우가 지속되면서 화천댐의 유입량이 증가를 하게 되는데 화천댐 유역의 국지적인 호우에 따른 유입량으로 판단되는 부분을 제외하고는 화천댐 유입량과 계산된 평화의 댐 방류량에서 유사한 결과를 도출하고 있었다. 이와 같은 산정법을 바탕으로 하여 강우에 따른 평화의 댐 방류량을 정확히 산정함으로서 댐유역의 비상사태 발생 또는 임남댐의 방류 등을 추정하는데 크게 기여할 수 있을것으로 판단된다.2$으로 나타났다. 밸브 개폐도가 $100\%$일 때가 밸브를 $60\%$$80\%$ 개폐시켰을 때보다 $0.3kg/cm^2,\;0.29kg/cm^2$ 낮게 나타나 밸브를 전체 개방 했을 때 관로내의 수압이 상수설계기준에 적합한 수압을 유지함을 알 수 있다. 상수관로 설계 기준에서는 관로내 수압을 $1.5\~4.0kg/cm^2$으로 나타내고 있는데 $6kg/cm^2$보다 과수압을 나타내는 경우가 $100\%$로 밸브를 개방하였을 때보다 $60\%,\;80\%$ 개방하였을 때가 더 빈번히 발생하고 있으므로 대상지역의 밸브 개폐는 $100\%$ 개방하는 것이 선계기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 밸브 개폐에 따른 수압 변화를 모의한 결과 밸브 개폐도를 적절히 유지하여 필요수량의 확보 및 누수방지대책에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.8R(mm)(r^2=0.84)$로 지수적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유거수량은 토성별로 양토를 1.0으로 기준할 때 사양토가 0.86으로 가장 작았고, 식양토 1.09, 식토 1.15로 평가되어 침투수에 비해 토성별 차이가 크게 나타났다. 이는 토성이 세립질일 수록 유거수의 저항이 작기 때문으로 생각된다. 경사에 따라서는 경사도가 증가할수록 증가하였으며 $10\% 경사일 때를 기준으로 $Ro(mm)=Ro_{10}{\times}0.797{\times}e^{-0.021s(\%)}$로 나타났다.천성 승모판 폐쇄 부전등을 초래하는 심각한 선천성 심질환이다. 그러

  • The current research reviewed the design conditions that would maximize the efficiency of the hybrid collector that combines in one unit "cyclone-inertial impaction-bag filter". The computational analysis for the shape of cyclone entry predicts that a design that installs the guide vane at the entry of the tangential type cyclone brings a high-rpm and powerful vortex, very effective in promoting the deflection of coarse particles from the streamline at the cyclone. As the lower part of the cyclone is venturi-shaped, however, a strong flow downward of 4 to 5 m/sec persists through the lower part of the hopper, revealing the likely reentrainment of collected dust. And the removal of the venturi at the lower part of the cyclone would solve the problem of the reentrainment of collected dust. The acceleration of the flow velocity through the adjustment of the gap of the collision baffle would increase the effect of collision, but as the interference with the dust separation is expected, the original design should be kept for the baffle.

Numerical Study on the Characteristics of Dual-Mode Scramjet Isolator (이중 모드 스크램제트 격리부 특성에 대한 수치해석적 연구)

  • As one of the most promising propulsive systems in the future, the dual-mode scramjet engine has drawn the attention of many researches. Detailed flow features concerned with the isolator play an important role in the dual-mode scramjet system. The 2D numerical method has been used for the dual-mode scramjet with wind tunnel. To validate the ability of the numerical model, numerical results have been compared with the experimental results. Overall pressure distributions show quite good match with the experimental results. Back pressure has been studied for maximum pressure rising. According to the results, pressure distribution of supersonic inlet section is not influenced by back pressure. The shock train is pushed towards upstream as the back pressure increases. The maximum value of back pressure without inlet unstart goes up rapidly and then keeps constant when the isolator length increases. The optimal length of isolator section ($L/H_{th}$) is 8.7 in this model.

  • In this study, a thermoelectric power generation system was constructed for a waste-heat recovery. Thermoelectric modules were attached to a stainless steel duct, and a hot air blower was set such that it faced the duct inlet. We found that to achieve the maximum power out of the system, the temperature in the hot side of the thermoelectric module should be uniform. The optimum compressive pressure exerted on the module was observed. Further, the thermoelectric power performance was evaluated using the heat sink attached to the cold side of the thermoelectric module. In particular, when using a natural-convection heat sink, the power output difference is approximately five times.

  • Analytic solutions are derived for wave scattering by a semi-infinite breakwater or a breakwater gap with partially reflective front and fully reflective back. The water depth is constant and a regular wave train is normally incident to the breakwater. Wave scattering is studied based on the linear potential wave theory. The governing equation is transformed into ordinary differential equation by using the method of variation of parameters and coordinate transformation. Comparison with finite element numerical solution shows that the analytic solution obtained in this paper gives quite good results. Using the analytic solution, the tranquility of harbor entrance is investigated by changing the reflection coefficient at the breakwater.

  • Pholcus gosuensis sp. novo is described from the entrance zone of Gosu cave, Chungchengbuk-do, Korea. The species is characterized by male palpal organs with three expanded apophyses and developed callosity on procursus, two frontal apophyses of chelicerae and degrading appendix, and sclerotized arches on uterus externus. The species is related to P. crassus Paik 1978 and P. acutulus Paik, 1978 in having identical uncus and embolus but differentiated from those species by the combined characters of large apophyses and heavily sclerotized callosity on procursus, and structure of arches on uterus externus.

Primary Left Atrial Myxofibrosarcoma -A case report- (좌심방에 발생한 악성 원발성 점액섬유성육종 -1예 보고-)

  • Primary cardiac tumor has very low incidence, especially in cases of malignancy. A 29 year old male patient visited our cardiologic clinic for recent aggrevation of dyspnea on exertion and palpitation. Echocardiography showed a large tumor in the left atrium, which suggested the left atrial myxoma. Urgent open heart surgery was taken. The operative finding was fossa ovalis based a large tumor (35$\times$90$\times$50 mm) that invaded the posterior wall of LA and right superior pulmonary vein directly. The tumor was excised well by simple dissection, and the final pathologic report was malignant myxofibrosarcoma. His postoperative course was smooth and he was discharged in good health. Postoperative radiation and chemotherapy had taken with satisfactory clinical outcome.
