Objective: The purpose of the study was to analyze the difference in the importance and performance of the educational content of the community pharmacy practice and find the factors that influence it. Methods: A 5-point Likert scale questionnaire asked about the importance and performance of the pharmacy practice education items to community pharmacy preceptors, current students, and professors. Data were analyzed using Microsoft office 365 Excel and IBM SPSS 21.0. Results: A total of 117 people participated. The averages of importance and performance were 4.34±0.34 and 3.71±0.45, respectively. Except for the computational entry of prescriptions and medication history, the average score for the importance of all educational items was statistically significantly higher than the one for performance. Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) identified over-the-counter medication counseling, over-the-counter drug selection consultation, pharmacy management, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and understanding and implementation of drug use evaluation as the items that needed focused effort. Borich's needs were highest in the adverse drug reaction monitoring. Conclusions: Overall, high importance and low performance indicate a need for improvement in community pharmacy practice education. Since the demand for education was high in over-the-counter medication counseling, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and OTC drug selection consultation, various supports are urgently needed to strengthen pharmacy practice education in this area in the future.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the educational needs of virtual reality simulations that can be applied to novice nurses during the waiting period before starting work in a hospital. Methods: A convergent mixed methods was used. The survey data were collected from 230 novice nurses, and a focus group interview was conducted with 6 new nurses. The data were collected from November 2022 to January 2023. Descriptive statistics, a frequency analysis, independent t-test, and an Importance-Performance Analysis were performed using SPSS 24.0. Results: Appropriate topics for virtual reality simulation education were indicated to be medications and intravenous injections, which are high priority topics in quantitative and qualitative research. The novice nurses wanted group activity training three to four times a week for two weeks before beginning work in a hospital. They also wanted an immersive virtual reality system based on a real hospital environment. Conclusion: Based on the above results, this study provides basic data for the development of a virtual reality simulation education that can improve the adaptation of novice nurses to clinical practice. A strategy was suggested to utilize the waiting time before beginning work in a hospital as educational time.
This study was attempted to identify the difference between nursing competencies and major satisfaction before and after the first clinical practice of nursing college students and use it as basic data for efficient clinical practice education. Data collection by single group pre- and post-design was conducted from February 18 to April 23, 2019 for 201 nursing college students before and after clinical practice for 8 weeks. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, paried t-test, and Pearson's Correlation, Multiple Regression using SPSS/Win 23.0. As a result of the study, Nursing competency increased after the first clinical practice than before, but it was not significant(t=-1.73, p=.084). Among the sub-factors of nursing competency, educational ability(t=-1.97, p=.050) and ethical practical ability(t=-209, p=.038) was found to increase significantly. Major satisfaction was significantly increased after clinical practice than before(t=-2.45, p=.015). After clinical practice, it was found that general satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, and recognition satisfaction which are sub-factors of major satisfaction, had a positive correlation with nursing competency. As a result of analyzing the impact on nursing competency, it was found that recognition satisfaction explains nursing competency as 9.9%. Therefore, it is necessary to reorganize the clinical practice curriculum that can improve nursing competency, develop a program that can improve major satisfaction, and verify the effectiveness.
This study aims to figure out the current state of health insurance education provided to dentists and personnel in charge of insurance claim as well as the effects of experiences in education on their knowledge of health insurance standard and actual application. As a result of analysis on 100 data sheets related to dentistry and 100 data sheets related to personnel in charge of insurance claim (a total of 200 data sheets), following results were generated. Insurance claim personnels showed higher score than dentist in knowledge of health insurance standard and it was significant statistically. Knowledge of insurance claim personnel showed significant differences in educational experiences, in health insurance for the latest three years and average hours of education per session whereas that of dentists did not indicate any significant differences. The level of practical application of dentists was significantly different (p<0.05) according to experiences in insurance claim, and that of insurance claim personnel significantly varied (p<0.05) depending on age, experiences of insurance education and average hours of education. The longer average hours of education, the higher level of practical application. Experiences of insurance education turned out to affect on the knowledge of health insurance standard significantly (p<0.05) on the part of dentists and insurance claim personnel, and the level of experiences in insurance claim and knowledge of health insurance standard on the part of dentists and insurance claim personnel turned out to affect on practical application significantly (p<0.001). Judging from the result, continuous education needs to be conducted in order to enable dentists and insurance claim personnel to maintain the level of knowledge about health insurance and practical application.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify knowledge and the Need of pathophysiology, perceived connectivity between knowledge of pathophysiology and clinical practice, and confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying the knowledge to clinical practice, and to analyze the correlation between the knowledge, perceived connectivity, and confidence and satisfaction of clinical nurses. Methods: Subjects consisted of 149 clinical nurses who work at 7 general hospitals and 6 university hospitals located in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi province in Korea. Those who learned pathophysiology during their undergraduate program were recruited by using a convenient sampling. The data were collected between April 23 and May 24 in 2012. Participants responded to self-administered questionnaires about knowledge and the need of pathophysiology, and the perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice, and confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying knowledge to clinical practice. Results: Mean scores of knowledge and the need of pathophysiology were $2.88{\pm}0.34$ and $2.33{\pm}0.39$ each. Scores of knowledge and the need of 3 units such as fluid and electrolyte imbalance, acid-base imbalance, and alterations in the respiratory system were high among 23 units while that of adolescent disorders was the lowest. The mean score of perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice was $7.32{\pm}1.57$, and those of confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying the knowledge to clinical practice were $7.66{\pm}1.66$ and $7.42{\pm}1.67$ respectively. Knowledge of pathophysiology was positively correlated with the perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice, and confidence, and satisfaction with clinical performance. Conclusion: The results indicate that knowledge and the need of pathophysiology in clinical nurses is above average, and that knowledge of pathophysiology is important in promoting perceived connectivity with clinical practice and increasing confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying knowledge to clinical practice.
The purpose of this study was to compare emotional intelligence, facilitative communication ability and communication conflict among psychiatric nurse and clinical nurse to improve nurse's emotional intelligence and facilitative communication ability in each clinical field, it was attempted to provide basic data to search for alternatives to reduce communication conflict. Data were analyzed using ANCOVA with SPSS/WIN 20. Finally, emotional intelligence, facilitative communication ability and communication conflicts in clinical nurses higher than psychiatric nurses. These results indicate that need to develope a variety of clinical programs to promote facilitative communication ability and to enhance emotional intelligence of psychiatric nurses and to reduce communication conflicts of clinical nurses.
The purpose of this study was to develop a patient safety nursing activities scale for clinical nurses and to verify validity and reliability it. A preliminary scale was developed through various processes and pilot study. Data were collected from 900 nurses at 28 hospitals selected by proportionate stratified sampling with 331 general hospitals nationwide. The final scale was a 4-point scale, consisting of 72 items in 10 domains. The construct validity was found to be appropriate by exploratory factor analysis and 70.3% of the variance in the total scale and over .74 of factor loading. There was a significant correlation between scale and patient safety culture (r=.52, p<.001) and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .99. This scale developed to measure patient safety nursing activities of clinical nurses was found to be reliable and valid and will be a useful tool in practical field.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a new course entitled 'Clinical Research Management' to enhance nursing students' clinical competency in handling clinical trials. Methods: The goals and content of the existing current education program for clinical research professionals such as clinical research coordinators and clinical research associates provided by the Korea National Enterprise for Clinical Trials were analyzed to identify the core educational concepts. A focus group interview was performed to investigate essential competency levels for the professionals who were to begin their career in the area of clinical trials after graduating from the college of nursing. Through these initial processes, we identified the core competency required for clinical research professionals and the related course content. Goals and objectives based on the specified four competencies were set and confirmed by expertise review. Results: We developed a new course entitled Clinical Research Management, a 16-week elective subject consisting of various teaching and learning strategies based on four core competencies: basic knowledge on clinical trials, communication, risk management, and ethics. Conclusion: The results of this study will contribute to enhancing nursing students' clinical competency, including knowledge, skills, and attitudes relevant to clinical trials.
This study is a descriptive research on the subjects of hospital nurses to investigate the effect of job satisfaction and fatigue on their nursing professional attitudes. The subjects were 262 nurses working at five general hospitals in J and S cities. Data collection was conducted from December 2014 to January 2015 using structured questionnaires on job satisfaction, fatigue and nursing professional attitudes. As a result of the study, nurses' nursing profession attitude was high in 30 year old and married nurses, and in clinical experience of either less than a year or more than six years, and nurses' nursing profession attitude was higher in charge nurses and head nurses than in general nurses. The most influential factors affecting the nursing professional attitude were job satisfaction, clinical career, and fatigue in that order. These findings provide theoretical evidence to explain the importance of job satisfaction and fatigue variables in influencing factors on nursing professional attitude. Therefore, in clinical practice, it is necessary to develop and implement an education program to improve nursing professional attitudes by considering nurses' job satisfaction, clinical career and fatigue level.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among attitude toward caring for the elderly and geriatric nursing practice and the influencing factors on geriatric nursing practice of nurses in a general hospital. Data were collected from October 1 to October 30, 2017 by questionnaires from 228 nurses who work at a general hospital in B city. The data were analyzed by IBM SPSS statistics 20.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression. The average score of attitude toward caring the elderly was 3.39 and geriatric nursing practice was 3.21. Significant correlation were found among attitude toward caring the elderly and geriatric nursing practice. According to the research, the significant factors influencing geriatric nursing practice were attitude toward caring the elderly, total clinical careers, elderly education experience influences the attitude toward the elderly, the present working department, have a friendly elderly person, and these factors explained 30.4%. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and apply a program to improve positive attitude of care for the elderly to hospital nurses and a program to promote the geriatric nursing practice.
