  • For the past few years, there has been active seeking of archival practices outside of public institutions. For example, there is oral history archive which has an actual field of its own, community archive, archives of everyday life, cultural resources archive, digital archive, and post-modern archive with its discourse practical character. In this reading, such flow is organized through everyday paradigm, and examines new archival methodology that is suitable for it. Through such critical mind, semiotic approach is taken and the need, direction and alternative of archival methodology is offered. Especially, archival methodology, which can be applied to archives is thoroughly observed. Also, the way how sign practices can be executed in the archival field is explained through specific examples. Of course, it is clearly stated that this is an instance, and that it is an archival methodology that can be applied to public institutions. We hope this would be a discuss that would enable a comprehensive understanding of records.

  • An election is a major event in a country that elects the people's representatives. Currently, Korea's electoral system has a structure that limits the exclusion of the minority's opinion. Also, it has strengthened the monopoly of major political parties. Despite the harsh conditions, Green Party Korea has proposed an alternative to prevent even the minority from being excluded by practicing direct democracy and expanding proportional representation through the institutionalization of the democratic process within the party. Election campaigns should thus reflect this orientation of Green Party Korea. The local elections and the national elections reflect Korea's political and social status and show the course over two minority parties beyond such limits. Moreover, they provide evidence of the activities of Green Party Korea. The paper analyzes how the election archives of the party hold the values of democracy, how minor parties jump to another because of the unfavorable election system, and how the archives of Green Party Korea reflect its values on the political history of Korea.

  • This article delves into community archives based on the archival project of Dongjak-gu Public Library on the search toward sustainability. Dongjak-gu has conducted a local archiving project that involves collecting local records, focusing on the role of local public institutions as representative districts in the local region after the library was established in September 2013. Thus far, we are managing the project and records that are piled at the public library, and as the placement for archiving local records conducted in a local public library does not match its role, the national/city/province system for archiving local records faces a challenge for long-term sustainability. Therefore, we would like to present an idea for sustainability by discussing our concerns and experiences in this paper.

  • This study started with the question "Shall we apply the existing record management method to our trivial daily records?" For the general public, we focus on media that thinks more about daily recordings and suggests a better method, suggesting a 'social platform' as a plan, and using the user's visual approach through UX design methodology. The social archive proposed in this study aims to be a 'square' where various people can gather and communicate and share. A space that can record daily life using 'record' as a basic body Purpose It aims to provide the basis for basic research in various fields, and aims to function as a space for communication of various research things such as researchers and researchers, researchers and producers. In order to maintain, focus on the prerequisites of the existing construction, the items to be researched when constructing the daily archive are 'creative methodology to change research items when building a paradigm', 'network with related organizations', 'service plans for persistence', and characteristics of social media. We discussed the possibility of social media as a social archive platform. Finally, while looking at the user experience design process, I designed some features of the social archive and suggested things to do in UX design.

  • Throughout the 70 years of division, cultural heterogeneity between the two Koreas is accelerating. Under these circumstances, the archive of the everyday life of North Koreans could contribute to understanding the North. Here, everyday life is defined as social space where various practices and actions of individuals intersect with the social structure including institutions, social control, norms, and order. The purpose of the study is to apply this concept of everyday life to design an archive-building model rich in evidence and memories of everyday life in North Korea. To this end, a methodology that takes into account the characteristics of everyday life is needed, which is called 'cultural archiving'. By applying the 'cultural archiving' methodology, a model that includes the principles and procedures for building everyday life archives in North Korea is proposed. This also investigates how each building process could be applied through actual example(a database of life, culture, and history in North Korea). In addition, the actual case ("Database of Living History and Culture in North Korea for the Foundation of Unified Korea") is investigated as to how each construction procedure could be applied.

  • No one can deny the harsh reality that archival culture has not yet been permeated extensively into all the spheres of our society. Only fragmented records in fixed areas are in the custody of archives. Records to build a living memory for the history of our present are hard to find or remain minimal, if anywhere. Above all, there are few records in archives concerned with the everyday life of common people. No consideration has not been made about the reason for being of archives, not to mention of the strategy for establishing the archival culture. Accordingly, a paradigm shift is required for archives directly connected with the everyday life of common people. Archives of everyday life means one which interprets the behaviour and experiences of individuals(groups) within the context of society through categorizing everyday life of common people into the lesser fields. And archives of everyday life also means an organization or facility/place which documents the everyday life of individuals(groups), and collect, appraise, select and preserve the records from the view point of humanities for the reconstruction of history from the bottom. Archives of everyday life is an attempt to reconstruct memory and records on behaviour by and torment of the common people in the modern history of Korea, on the basis of which we can seek out the oppressive structure in the daily life of capitalism. Archival community should discuss about what is the meaning of records in the age of democracy unlike that of authoritarian era. We also need to have definite direction on the what kinds of records are to be created and appraised from the standpoint of common people. We are to make it possible to create Zeitgeist in the tackle of records and archives' content. on this kind of attempt archival community could make a practical contribution forward a more advanced democracy, resulted in having an opportunity to change the essence of archives.

  • This essay focused on mapping out the next archiving model during 15 years. This metaphorical 'JINGU PROJECT' is titled from Shinto relation in Japan rebuilding every 20 years. We need some kinds of self sustainable growth archiving model. It means that it's time to say about our archiving experiences in field for archiving technics and knowledges. We should know the fact that a few thousands archivists have been acting ih fields. Since 1999, we have tried to build up the best practices in public offices. So far, So good. However, we need another wing for better flying from now on. I believe in the power of silences in field because they will speak up their voices.

  • Growing interest in everyday-life archives and community archives leads to the establishment of small-scale archives in the private sector. Interoperability of descriptive information is necessary to be able to have a link between these factors. The purpose of this study is to explore how descriptive information can be interoperable in private archives, which participate in the archives network, and to suggest a direction in organizing the private and community archives network. For this purpose, it investigated the current situation of archival description in small-scale private archives in Korea, especially in terms of collection, and analyzed descriptive information applied to four foreign archives networks. Based on the analysis, it gives some suggestions for sharing descriptive information in Private and Community Archive Network (PCAN) in Korea.
