  • Currently, the robot is widely utilized in various educational settings such as after-school classes, and special classes for gifted students. The robot is widely recognized as a useful tool for helping students solve problems. The core activities of programming learning with robot need to provide various problem contexts to the students and guide students' problem solving process. Students gain cognitive and affective benefits when they solve problems with robots. This paper describes the impact of programming learning using robot based on schoolwide enrichment model on elementary school students' creative potential. As a result, the students of experimental group than the students of the control group improved creative personality and ideational behavior, and the gifted students of experimental group than the gifted students of control group improved ideational behavior.

Following things are conducted to meet this task; first, to look into compositions of the anxiety of elementary schoolchildren in middle grade, to prepare proper questions to measure it and to develop a test; second, to look into whether such questions are fully understood by schoolchildren; third, to look into whether reliability and adequacy thereof are proper or not. Conclusion of the study is as follows; anxiety test of elementary schoolchildren in middle grade showed all the things related to general anxiety, social anxiety, study anxiety, examination anxiety, announcement anxiety. However, there were differences as per subordinate factor and detailed area. And reliability and adequacy of anxiety test for elementary schoolchildren in middle grade were appropriate. and such data could be valuably used for preparing anxiety test. To summarize the study result above, the test developed in this study supplements weak point of existing test instrument and reveals anxiety experienced by elementary schoolchildren in middle grade, and harmoniously composes all the kinds. It is meaningful that the test lowered applicable object to schoolchildren in middle grade who are in anxiety formation stage and also feel anxiety most strongly. In addition, it may be used usefully for living guidance and consultation to efficiently cope with anxiety by measuring base line regarding anxiety of individual schoolchildren in middle grade.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the 5 OEs of Korean gifted elementary and middle school students and non-gifted, and to find out the gender differences and level of school differences to clarify the possibility of identification instrument of giftedness based on the 5 OEs as the affective factor of giftedness. Total subjects were 270 in this study. Among them, gifted group were 74, and non-gifted group were 196. Boys were 202, and girls were 168. Elementary students were 34, middle school students were 40 within the gifted group. OEQII (Kim, 2008) were modified and used for elementary students. The result of this study were as follows. First, the level of 5 OEs of gifted students was significantly higher than non-gifted students. Second, gender differences were found. Total OEs and sensory OE and emotional OE of girls were significantly higher than boys'. Third, there were significant interaction effects among gifted and non-gifted and gender factor in total OEs and psychomotor OE and sensory OE. Fourth, there was no significantly differences of 5 OEs between elementary and middle school gifted students, which may be interpreted that OEs were consistent affective factors of giftedness. OEs were discussed as the possibility of identification instrument of giftedness.

  • The study aims to gain information for developing educational content to support LPSMBs (low-performing students with multicultural backgrounds) in elementary and middle schools. The procedure involved surveying students about their personal characteristics, attitudes related to learning, and learning environment. I analyzed responses from 1,147 students from 200 elementary schools and 3,760 students from 320 middle schools who were LPSMBs and NPSMBs (normally performing students with multicultural backgrounds). LPSMBs in both elementary and middle school showed statistically significant lower scores on most questionnaires related to learning and learning environment than NPSMBs. LPSMBs in elementary schools showed higher scores on teachers' learning support, LPSMBs in middle school showed higher scores on classmates' learning support. LPSMBs born in foreign countries need to be given opportunities to learn Korean as well as their father's and mother's culture. I give suggestions for how to support LPSMBs' learning and learning environment based on the survey results.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the way of teaching the concept of pyramid in the elementary mathematics textbook and try to improve the problem. Although textbook present the general definition of pyramid as including regular pyramid, right pyramid, oblique pyramid, the textbook intentionally deal with right pyramid or regular pyramid. This intention reflect the intuition or familiarity of students. But, according to the analysis, this intention do not realized. The example of pyramid presented in the textbook do not coincide with mathematical definition and intuition of students. If we intend to deal with right pyramid in the textbook, we should treat of regular pyramid and right pyramid whose base is a rectangular in the textbook.

  • This study compared the characteristics and perceptions of science imaginary drawings done by scientifically-gifted and general elementary students. To do this, sixth graders (n=60) at three gifted science education institutes and sixth graders (n=51) at two elementary schools in Gyeonggi province were selected and administered the questionnaires. The analyses of the results indicated that the pictures of scientifically-gifted students included and integrated more academic fields and places than those of general students. The pictures of scientifically-gifted students were also more elaborate, but less painted. In addition, scientifically-gifted students perceived more positively the educational benefits of science imaginary drawing upon cognitive and affective aspects. However, there were no significant differences between scientifically-gifted students and general students in the understanding of science imaginary drawing, distribution of the pictures by times, perceptions on educational benefits of science imaginary drawing upon aesthetic aspects, and perceptions on difficulties in the processes of scientific imaginary drawing. A few scientifically-gifted students answered that science imaginary drawing was not more useful to them than to general students. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.
