Performance Evaluation of WUSB over WBAN Communication Structure for Wireless Wearable Computers (무선 웨어러블 컴퓨터를 위한 WUSB over WBAN 통신 구조의 성능 분석)

  • A recent major development in computer technology is the advent of the wearable computer system that is based on human-centric interface technology trends and ubiquitous computing environments. Wearable computer systems can use the wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) that refers to USB technology that is merged with WiMedia PHY/MAC technical specifications. In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. To construct the WUSB over WBAN communication systems, we propose a WBAN beaconing structure to assign WUSB communication periods. In the proposed structure, WUSB uses private periods of WBAN. In our performance evaluations, we compare theoretical results and simulation results about throughputs of WUSB under various WBAN channel occupations to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed structure in WUSB over WBAN communications.

  • The object of grounding of electrical facility is to protect human and machine damage from the power supply interruption high voltage by use of the accident current dissipating into the ground. Generally, it is not easy to make suitable ground design for inhomogeneous subsurface geology and the variability of accident current in magnitude and duration time. To make efficient ground, ground potential rise must be controlled in the way of overall lowering and evenness. This study shows the case of optimized ground design by use of subsurface resistivity structure from electrical soundings.

  • 모바일 쇼핑의 급속한 성장으로 인해 스마트 쇼핑과 같은 쇼핑시장의 새로운 패러다임이 발생하였다. 본 연구에서는 모바일 쇼핑시장을 이루고 있는 주된 의류분야에서 오프라인과의 통합된 시스템을 개발하여 새로운 의류 IT의 출현을 도모하고, 이를 통해 고객 만족도와 서비스를 높일 수 있는 방안을 연구하였다. 오프라인 매장에 스캐너를 개발하여 오프라인 쇼핑의 활용도를 높이고 고객에게 브랜드의 새로운 차별성을 제시할 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 스캐너에 키넥트를 이용하여 인체 골격 구조에 따라 신체를 측정하고 신체 측정 시 발생하는 사용자 인식률 및 스캐너와의 거리에 따라 변하는 오차 범위를 연구하였다. 스캐너는 의류 매장 안에서 신체치수를 측정할 뿐 아니라 의류 RFID 태그를 이용하여 직접 입어보지 않고 가상 Fitting할 수 있는 기능을 가진다. 또한 측정된 치수를 스마트 폰과 블루투스로 연결하여 가상 아바타를 생성 할 수 있고 이는 또한 스마트폰에서 가상 Fitting이 가능하여 오프라인과 모바일 쇼핑의 통합성을 추구했다.

Anti-aging Effects of Cedrol and Collagen-derived Peptide (세드롤과 콜라겐 유래 펩타이드의 피부노화 개선효과)

  • Skin aging is the phenomena finally expressed on the skin surface and related to the changes in the microstructure of the skin texture. Which is resulted in wrinkle formation and uneven tone of skin and so on. In this study, the synergy effect of Cedrol and a collagen-derived peptide in type III collagen synthesis was evaluated by in vitro test. The physiological skin state of 22 female volunteers was measured after using the cosmetics for 4 weeks. Results showed that Cedrol and a collagen-derived peptide had the excellent synergy effect in type III collagen synthesis. The cosmetics improved skin microrelief, star configurations, skin gloss, skin tone, hydration and elasticity except skin lightening. In conclusion, this study proved that Cedrol and collagen-derived peptide had the synergy effect of type III collagen synthesis in the cell level and cosmetics with those was improved skin aging in human volunteer test.

Inhibitory Effect of Beet Extract on Cancer Cell Proliferation (비트 추출물의 암세포 증식 저해 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the inhibition of human cancer cell proliferation by using various concentrations of Beet Extract containing various bioactive ingredients. The six cancer cell lines used in the experiment were prostate cancer cells DU-145, lung cancer cells A549, breast cancer cells MCF-7, cervical cancer cells HeLa, liver cancer cells SNU-182, and biliary tract cancer cells SNU-1196. Human-derived cancer cell lines were used. The inhibition of cancer cell proliferation at various concentrations of Beet Extract was measured by the CCK-8 method. As a result of examining the inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, Beet Extract significantly and concentration-dependently inhibited DU145 of prostate cancer cells at all concentrations, and Lung cancer cells A549 and DU-145 of prostate cancer cells at 100ug/mL and 1000ug/mL, cervical cancer cells HeLa, and liver cancer cells SNU- 182, biliary tract cancer cell SNU-1196 showed significant proliferation inhibition at 1000ug/mL. Experiment result, the cancer cell proliferation inhibitory mechanisms of Beet Extract using various human-derived cancer cell lines can be considered to provide cancer prevention effects and the possibility of developing functional foods.

Vasodilatation effect of Kirenol isolated from Sigesbeckia pubescens (털진득찰에서 분리한 Kirenol의 혈관 이완효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the vasodilatation effect of kirenol isolated from Sigesbeckia pubescens on the rabbit basilar artery. In this study, to determine the vasodilatation effect of kirenol on the rabbit basilar artery, arterial rings with intact or damaged endothelium were used for the experiment. And used an organ bath and force transducer were contracted by endothelin. Kirenol, major active constituents of S. pubescens, showed a moderate vasodilatation effect on the basilar arteries of rabbits. Therefore, treatment with kirenol may selectively accelerate cerebral blood flow through dilatation of the basilar artery. This result suggests a potential role of kirenol isolated from S. pubescens as a source of vasodilatation agent.

Fabrication of Piezoelectric Cantilever with Microcone Tip for Sensing Local Stiffness of Biological Tissue (생체 조직의 국소 강도 측정을 위한 마이크로 콘 팁을 가진 압전 캔틸레버 제작)

  • For diseases that are difficult to detect by conventional imaging techniques, the development of a diagnostic method that allows sensors to be inserted into the human body to aid the diagnosis of local spots of the target tissue, is highly desirable. In particular, it is extremely difficult to determine whether vulnerable plaque can later develop into atherosclerosis using only imaging techniques. However, vulnerable plaques are expected to have slightly different mechanical properties than healthy tissue. In this study, we aim to develop a piezoelectric cantilever-type sensor that can be inserted into the human body and can detect the local mechanical properties of the target tissue. A piezoelectric polymer composite based on $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticles was optimized for fabrication of a piezoelectric cantilever. Next, a micro-cone tip was fabricated at the end of the piezoelectric cantilever by thermal drawing. Finally, stiffness of biological tissue samples was measured with the piezoelectric cantilever sensor for verifying its functionality.

아크로 증착된 TiN 박막의 특성 연구

  • 티타늄 화합물은 뛰어난 물리적 특성과 인체 무해성을 가지고 있어 생체, 내식 및 내마모 재료 등에 널리 응용되고 있으며, 다양한 색상 구현을 통한 미려한 외관 등 기능성을 위한 표면처리 분야에도 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 이중 질화 티타늄은 금색을 대체할 수 있는 물질로 코팅방법과 기판온도, 바이어스, 질소유량 등과 같은 공정변수 제어를 통해 그 물성을 변화시킬 수 있어 기능적 측면과 함께 미려한 외관처리에 응용이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 아크(cathodic arc) 코팅 시스템을 이용하여 다양한 조건에서 TiN 박막을 제조하고 그 특성을 평가하였다. 아크 장비는 화합물 박막을 코팅할 수 있는 아크 소스와 시편 홀더, 가스 주입구, 시편 가열장치 그리고 배기 장치로 구성되어 있고, 아크 소스에 장착된 타겟은 99.5%의 Ti 타겟을 사용하였다. 시편과 타겟 간의 거리는 약 31cm이며, 시편은 알코올과 아세톤으로 초음파 세척 된 강판(냉연 강판), 실리콘 웨이퍼를 사용하였다. 시편을 진공용기에 장착하고 ${\sim}10^{-6}$ Torr까지 진공배기를 실시하고, Ar 가스를 진공용기 내로 공급하여 ${\sim}10^{-4}$ Torr에서 시편에 bias (Pulse : 400V)를 인가한 후 아크를 발생시켜 약 5분간 청정을 실시하였다. 플라즈마 청정이 끝나면 시편에 인가된 bias를 차단하고, 질소 유량, 온도, bias, 시간 등의 공정변수에 따라 코팅을 실시하였다. 질소의 유량이 80sccm 일 때, Ti 금속 결정구조가 나타났는데, 이는 질소와 충분하게 반응하지 못한 Ti이 기판에 코팅되어 나타나는 현상으로 판단된다. 색상변화에서는 질소 유량이 증가함에 따라 노란색이 짙어지며, TiN은 시편에 인가되는 bias 전압이 높아질수록 붉은색이 증가하고, 온도에 따른 큰 변화는 관찰되지 않았다. 공정변수에 따른 반사율 변화는 TiN의 경우 질소 가스 유량이 200sccm, bias 150V, 공정 온도 200도에서 반사율이 가장 높았으며, 코팅 시간이 짧을수록 반사율이 높아지는 경향을 나타냈다. 따라서 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 외관 코팅 분야에 응용한다면 장식성과 외관의 경도, 내마모성, 내식성의 향상 등 많은 장점을 가질 것으로 예상된다.

  • To manufacture a robot hand that essentially mimics the functions of a human hand, it is necessary to develop flexible actuators and sensors. In this study, we propose the design, manufacture, and performance verification of flexible actuators and sensors based on Electro Active Polymer (EAP). EAP is fabricated as a type of film, and it moves with changes in the voltage because of contraction and expansion in the polymer film. Furthermore, if a force is applied to an EAP film, its thickness and effective area change, and therefore, the capacitance also changes. By using this mechanism, we produce capacitive actuators and sensors. In this study, we propose an EAP-based capacitive sensor and evaluate its use as a robot hand sensor.

Trend on Development and Application of High Performance Surfactants for Detergents (세제용 고기능성 계면활성제의 개발 및 응용 동향)

  • The surfactants applied in household detergents and industrial cleansers should satisfy the requirement of not just the basic function such as emulsification, solubilisation, dispersion, detergency, wetting and foaming, but also the economical efficiency and the safety to human and environment. In the viewpoint of the sustainable development, the surfactants, moreover, have to reduce raw materials and energy consumption and waste disposal when they are being manufactured and also consumed for their purposes. New high-performance surfactants have been extensively studied and developed in order to respond the change in social and economical environment. Noticeable progresses have been achieved so far, which are the significant increase in solubility and surface activity through the minor modification of existing surfactant molecular structure and the synergistic increase in a surface activity shown in the mixed surfactant system of anionic and cationic surfactants. In this review, the important and meaningful progresses achieved recently in technological advance and practical application will be summarized and discussed.
