  • The objective of this study is to examine the factors affecting adolescents' intention to buy e-Learning web site, expecially focuses on the moderating effect of adolescents's conformity. The main results are as follows. First, teacher's ability, personalized service, easy for service search, interaction between students, service revival for joining e-Learning sites affect intention to buy e-Learning web site through perceptual usefulness, except for entertainment. Second, perceptual usefulness has positive effect on intention to buy. Third, According to conformity, personalized service has different effect on perceptual usefulness. The result shows higher in high conformity group than low conformity group. It means e-Learning companies should focus on reference group or special group to effect their marketing strategy on adolescents. Lately, preceded studies investigated using SERVQUAL or SERVERF which were suit to offline. But, this study found e-Learning factors which are suitable to online. So, the factors and the results are more useful to e-Learning companies.

  • Two primary objectives of this study were to determine important personal factors in performing cognitive distance mapping, and to understand how human's cognitive distance mapping capabilities were influenced by reference and subjects' locations using Global Positioning System (GPS). Undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Kansas, USA were interviewed and surveyed throughout the campus area giving them a paper-and-pencil test. Study results showed that females had more accurate cognitive mapping capability than males regardless of ethnic background and academic levels. Generally, subjects with longer affiliation with the university, higher ages and academic levels had less variability in their mapping accuracy. Subjects tended to more accurately map the target locations closer to the reference points than those located farther away, and subjects who were closer to a reference point performed their distance mapping better than those farther away. A correlation analysis reported that male subjects used reference-to-target and subject-to-reference distances more sensitively than females to estimate the locations of the targets. This result indicates that males might have used the reference point-based map scale more strenuously than females.

  • This study surveyed the medical staffs in Busan with regard to their awareness and to their performances of infection control in health care facilities. As a result of the survey, the level of awareness and performances showed a high scale regardless of the relation to infection control department, infection control guidelines, and infection control education in the health care facilities. Especially, the group educated on the infection control had shown a statistically significant result of 0.001 in the awareness and performances. The main reasons to failure on infection control practice resulted with a heavy workload and a lack of time. Moreover, it is concluded that the self-consciousness on the infection control have increased in reason that the 99.7% responded a need to infection control education. In general, level of the performance analyzed lower than the level of awareness and it seems that reforming such policy feasible is needed and being active in performing infection control individually is necessary in order to decrease the nosocomial infection.

  • Classifying digital games' genres is quite ambiguous work, as they have been using other media's genre classification such as film genre. Therefore this paper tries to propose a new way of classifying genres of digital games. There are two kinds of approaches to digital games genres: one is based on gamers' activities and the other is on game text. The former turned out to be limitative because the meanings of gamers' activities are sometimes overlapped and this overlapping causes lack of objectivity in deciding which activity belongs to which genre. On the other hand, the latter is comparatively clear and accurate as it is based on what a game text provides. After all. a new classification of digital games based on game text makes total of 7 digital game types, which are Physical obstacles, Mainly Physical & partially intellectual obstacles, Intellectual obstacles, Mainly intellectual & partially physical obstacles, Self-supporting games, Confronting games, Ranking games, and each type has its own convention and characteristics.

  • This study was conducted to explore whether an automatic evaluation effect (i.e.,congruency effect and positive priming effect) of emotional properties which have been found in the racial prejudice study can be applied to the gender properties. Experiment 1 employing a short SOA (150ms-250ms) naming task showed a priming effect was larger in the positive prime-positive target condition than negative prime-negative target condition but not congruent effect. Experiment 2 employing a long SOA (500ms-1000ms) naming task didn't yield either positive priming effect or congruency effect. The congruency effect and the positive priming effect which is ubiquitous phenomenon in the generic cognitive concepts network were not found in the gender properties. Therefore, it was suggested that the social information including prejudice or stereotype can be differently processed according to the value of emotionality.

  • Developmental disorders are impairments of brain and/or central nervous system and refer to a disorder of brain function that affects languages, communication skills, perception, sociality and so on. In diagnosis of developmental disorders, behavioral response such as expressing emotions in proper situation is one of observable indicators that tells whether or not individual has the disorders. However, diagnosis by observation can allow subjective evaluation that leads erroneous conclusion. This research presents the technological environment and data acquisition system for AI based screening of autism disorder. The environment was built considering activities for two screening protocols, namely Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Behavior Development Screening for Toddler (BeDevel). The activities between therapist and baby during the screening are fully recorded. The proposed software in this research was designed to support recording, monitoring and data tagging for learning AI algorithms.

  • This study conducted a 3-stage survey and simulation experiment to identify the impact of vehicle platoons on car-following behavior of manually-driven vehicles. Vehicle maneuvering data obtained from driving simulations was statistically analyzed based on three measures including average speed, acceleration noise, and offset to represent the deviation of lateral movements. Results indicate that MV drivers tended to have psychological burden while driving in automated vehicle platooning environments, which resulted in different vehicle maneuvers. It is expected that the outcome of this study would be useful fundamentals in developing various traffic operations strategies for managing mixed traffic stream consisting of MVs and autonomous vehicles.

  • The types and the characteristics of students' responses to anomalous data in studying 'boiling point' were investigated, and the degree of cognitive conflict and conceptual change were compared by students' cognitive variables. Tests regarding field dependence-independence and logical thinking ability, a preconception test, and a test of responses to anomalous data were administered to 137 sixth graders. Among them, 90 students whose preconceptions were consistent with the presented initial theory were selected. After learning the scientific concept, students' conceptual change was examined. Six types of responses identified were as follows: Rejection, reinterpretation, exclusion, uncertainty, belief decrease, and theory change. The main responses were rejection (33%) and theory change (39%). The results of Mann-Whitney U test indicated students who were field independent and had higher logical thinking abilities felt more cognitive conflict and exhibited more conceptual change.

  • This study aimed to examine the roles of perceived convenience and usefulness of restaurant customers' revisit intention. To achieve the purpose of this study, it reviewed the theoretical background about perceived convenience, perceived usefulness and revisit intention and conducted an empirical analysis of them. For the empirical analysis, a questionnaire was given to a total of 228 regular restaurant customers at Busan area. The results were as follows. 1) The regular restaurant customers' perceived convenience and perceived usefulness had a significant effect on their revisit intention. 2) The regular customers' perceived convenience had an effect on their perceived usefulness. 3) Time elements and experience of visiting a restaurant had an effect on the perceived convenience. 4) Utilitarian values and hedonic values had an effect on the perceived usefulness.
