Mesh Segmentation With Geodesic Means Clustering of Sharp Vertices (첨예정점의 측지거리 평균군집화를 이용한 메쉬 분할)

  • In this paper, we adapt the $\kappa$-means clustering technique to segmenting a given 3D mesh. In order to avoid the locally minimal convergence and speed up the computing time, first we extract sharp vertices from the mesh by analysing its curvature and convexity that respectively reflect the local and global geometric characteristics from the viewpoint of cognitive science. Next the sharp vertices are partitioned into $\kappa$ clusters by iterated converging with the $\kappa$-means clustering method based on the geodesic distance instead of the Euclidean distance between each pair of the sharp vertices. For obtaining the effective result of $\kappa$-means clustering method, it is crucial to assign an initial value to $\kappa$ appropriately. Hence, we automatically compute a reasonable number of clusters as an initial value of $\kappa$. Finally the mesh segmentation is completed by merging other vertices except the sharp vertices into the nearest cluster by geodesic distance.

What you see and what you want to see from public figures: Cognitive Representations of Politicians and Entertainers (이상적 공인에 대한 기대와 공인에 대한 실제 평가: 정치인과 연예인에 대한 인지적 표상을 중심으로)

  • Using social network analysis, this study examined cognitive representations of ideal public figures as well as politicians and entertainers who are often regarded as public figures in Korea. Participants expected ideal public figures to possess only positive characteristics, such as high morality, integrity, competence. However, their assessment of politicians and entertainers reflected in their cognitive representations turned out to be fairly different from the image of ideal public figures. Personality traits and behavioral characteristics featured in cognitive representations of politicians were dominantly negative. Cognitive representations of entertainers incorporated both positive and negative characteristics highly interconnected to each other. This study also explored how people respond affectively toward ideal public figures, politicians and entertainers. Participants showed only positive feelings toward ideal public figures. However, their' affective responses toward politicians were entirely negative and toward entertainers, both positive and negative affects were shown. We discussed the disjunction between the representations of politicians and entertainers and of ideal public figures and suggested directions of future research.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상처리 기법 중 하나인 이진 영상에 대한 골격화를 이용한 새로운 형상 기술자를 제안한다. 내용기반 영상 검색에서 형상을 이용하는 것은 가장 우세하고 인간이 가장 쉽게 인지할수 있는 방법 중의 하나이다. 형상을 이용한 검색을 위해 서는 인간이 인지하는 형상에 대한 정보를 간략화시킬 수 있는 기술자가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 골격을 이용한 형상 기술자는 물체의 중요한 정보 중 하나인 골격을 영상 검색에 이용함으로써 기존의 물체가 갖고 있는 복잡한 형상 정보들을 여러개의 직선의 조합으로 간략하게 표현하고 이를 검색에 사용하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 단순한 골격화 외의 다른 형태학적 영상 처리를 이용하여 효과적인 직선 추출을 위한 여건을 마련한다. 그리고 근사화된 직선들이 추출되면 스케일에 대해 정규화 하여 골격을 이루는 직선들의 양 끝점을 형상 기술자로 얻을 수 있다. 각 특징벡터에 대한 정합은 각각의 회전에 대해 유클리디안 거리를 이용한다. 실험 결과, 제안된 방법이 자세한 부분보다는 대략적인 형상 검색과 동일한 카테고리의 데이타 집합에서 부분적인 변화에 대해 우수한 성능을 나타낸다는 것을 알 수 있다.

  • 멀티미디어의 발전이 가속화 되어가고 실생활에서의 적용범위가 넓어 질 수록 사람의 신체에 의한 개인 식별 기술의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 이미 상용화되어 널리 사용되는 지문인식이나 홍채인식 등의 생체 인식분야 이외에 사람의 얼굴을 이용한 인식이나 인증분야는 다른 생체 인식에 비해 더 많은 필요성과 발전 가능성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 CCD로 입력된 얼굴 영상을 특징추출이 가능한 개체단위로 분할한 후 각 개체의 비율적인 특징인 거리와 각도를 계산하고 각 개체단위의 유사도 비교를 통해 유사성을 확인함으로써 사람 얼굴을 인지하는 방법을 제안한다. 실험에 의한 분석결과 성능향상에 대한 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • A virtual team is defined a group of people that use electronic communications for some or all of their interactions with other team members. Because team members of a virtual team are physically and temporally distributed, a team's transactive memory system(TMS) is considered to be crucial for the team's effectiveness and performance. TMS refers to a set of individual memory systems which integrate knowledge possessed by particular members through a shared awareness of who knows what. This paper seeks to understand (1) how a virtual team's TMS influences team performance, and (2) what factors contribute to developing the team's TMS. Given these purposes, through the extensive literature review, we first identified components and antecedents to develop a theoretical model that predicts a virtual team's performance. Using the survey data gathered from 172 virtual teams, this study found that expertise location, coordination, and cognition-based trust which were proposed as three components of TMS positively influenced a virtual team's performance. Furthermore, this study uncovered that perceived media richness, network tie strength, and shared norms significantly influenced the components of TMS, while geographical dispersion did not exert any significant influence on TMS.

The Magnitude of the Third-person Effect by Comparison Target: A Study on the Effects of Relation of Perceivers to the Comparison Targets and Their Involvement in the Issue (지각대상자에 따른 제3자 효과 지각 변화의 원인: 수용자와 지각대상자의 관계와 관여도를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this manuscript was to investigate the effects of issue involvement and relation of perceivers to comparison targets on the magnitude of third person perceptions. The investigation was expected to help us to understand the underlying process of third person effect hypothesis. Data was collected from adult residents in Ohio, United States by telephone survey in 2003(n=524). Like most other third person effect studies, this study supported the hypothesis: Respondents perceived more media effects on others than themselves for both 'Negative media portrayals of smokers' and 'News coverage of Roman Catholic priest's sexual scandals'. Results of five hypothesis tests suggest that when relationship between a perceiver and a particular comparison target is present third person perception is explained more by cognitive components than motivational components. In this case, third person perception varies with comparison target's issue involvement while it is independent of social distance between the perceivers and the comparison target. Also, perceivers' issue involvement positively correlates with the magnitude of third person effect. Based on the results, it is concluded that when perceives or a comparison target is involved in a message cognitive processes accounting for the relationship can impact the magnitude of third person effect. An important theoretical implication of the study is that third person effect is, to some extent, related with framing effect and priming effect.

  • 본 논문에서는 인간과 MR(Mobile Robot)이 일정한 거리를 유지하면서 인간을 추종할 수 있도록 퍼지 제어기를 이용한 지능적 추론 방법을 제안하였다. 로봇은 다중 초음파 센서와 PC 카메라를 사용하여 인간과 로봇의 거리와 위치를 인지하고 로봇의 진행 방향과 속도를 퍼지 추론하는 방법을 사용하였다. 먼저 초음파 센서와 카메라를 사용하여 주변 환경에 대한 정보를 획득하고 주변환경을 표현하는 것이 중요하다. 센서와 카메라에 의해 입수된 정보로부터 로봇을 제어할 수 있도록 속도와 방향을 이용하여 추론하고 로봇을 제어하였다. 논문에서 제안된 퍼지 로직 알고리듬의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 실제 Mobile Robot을 이용한 주행실험을 반복 시행하여 요구된 결과를 얻음으로써 퍼지로직 제어기의 우수성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 인터넷의 발달과 인터넷 문화의 보편화로 인하여 사용자들은 폭발적으로 증가하는 다양한 정보를 접할 수 있게 되었으며, 자체 생산하거나 다른 신문사들로부터 생산된 기사들을 단순 유통, 링크를 통하여 정보검색 사이트들뿐만 아니라 각종 포털 사이트, 인터넷신문사들은 많은 다양한 경로로 기사를 제공할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 따라 인터넷산문을 규정하고 법적, 테두리에 넣기 위한 법률이 제정되었으며, 인터넷신문사에 대해 기사의 자체 생산량이라는 요건 검증에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 본 논문은 인터넷신문 자체기사 생산량을 측정하기 위해 필요한 기술들을 조사하고 타당성을 검토하여 이에 적합한 기술을 제시한다. 제시한 방법은 대량의 기사의 비교를 빠른 시간에 수행한 수 있도록 하기 위해 인간의 단어 인지와 관련한 경험적 정보의 반영을 통하여 변형한 편집거리 기반 방법이다. 제시하는 방법의 정확성을 검증하기 위해 실제 소량의 인터넷 신문 기사를 대상으로 실험하였다.

A study for improvement of far-distance performance of a tunnel accident detection system by using an inverse perspective transformation (역 원근변환 기법을 이용한 터널 영상유고시스템의 원거리 감지 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • In domestic tunnels, it is mandatory to install CCTVs in tunnels longer than 200 m which are also recommended by installation of a CCTV-based automatic accident detection system. In general, the CCTVs in the tunnel are installed at a low height as well as near by the moving vehicles due to the spatial limitation of tunnel structure, so a severe perspective effect takes place in the distance of installed CCTV and moving vehicles. Because of this effect, conventional CCTV-based accident detection systems in tunnel are known in general to be very hard to achieve the performance in detection of unexpected accidents such as stop or reversely moving vehicles, person on the road and fires, especially far from 100 m. Therefore, in this study, the region of interest is set up and a new concept of inverse perspective transformation technique is introduced. Since moving vehicles in the transformed image is enlarged proportionally to the distance from CCTV, it is possible to achieve consistency in object detection and identification of actual speed of moving vehicles in distance. To show this aspect, two datasets in the same conditions are composed with the original and the transformed images of CCTV in tunnel, respectively. A comparison of variation of appearance speed and size of moving vehicles in distance are made. Then, the performances of the object detection in distance are compared with respect to the both trained deep-learning models. As a result, the model case with the transformed images are able to achieve consistent performance in object and accident detections in distance even by 200 m.

Relation between Character Cloning and User Perception for Real-time Game Environment (실시간 게임 환경에서의 캐릭터 복제와 사용자 인지의 상관관계 연구)

  • When creating large crowds, it is unavoidable that the models and motions of many characters will be cloned. McDonnell implemented experiments focus on appearance and motion of characters to test user perception of crowds. As a result, appearance clones were easier to perceive than motion clones. In this paper, I researched about relation between character cloning and user perception for real-time game environment expanding McDonnell's research. This paper focuses on the way to recognition of multiple clones in dramatic environment free to change view point and has crowds move to every directions by trajectories. In particular, this paper shows the possibility of character diversification applied various shapes, colors and patterns to game item have important elements for game characters. Also, I suggests range of distances between clones by a series of experiments of user perception for clones's moving direction and distance.
